The Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has resigned from his post, and handed over the resignation letter to the Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. The CM was under pressure for the last 2 years after violences between Kukis and Meiteis broke out in the state.

In his resignation letter, Biren Singh said that he is extremely grateful to the Central government for time actions, interventions, developmental work and implementation of various projects for safeguarding the interest of every single Manipuri and hoped that the same may continue in future.
Biren Singh further hoped that the territorial integrity of Manipur will be maintained and there will be a crackdown on border infiltration. He also asked for a policy formulation to deport illegal immigrants. He also wrote that the fight against drugs and narcoterrorism should continue.
