Manipur: Hindu policeman stabbed to death by Md Naobi during an anti-drug operation in Thoubal, accused arrested

A Manipur police personnel was stabbed to death during an anti-drug operation at Moijing Meena Bazar in the Thongkhong area of Thoubal district on Wednesday night (3rd June). The deceased personnel has been identified as Head Constable Khoirom Suresh, of the 4th India Reserve Battalion (IRB), who was attached to Commando Unit (CDO) Thoubal.

As per reports, Suresh was part of a police team which launched an anti-drug operation after receiving intelligence inputs relating to drug trafficking. The police detained two suspects, including Naobi, for questioning. As the police personnel were questioning Naobi, he suddenly launched an attack on Suresh, inflicting serious injuries on him. Taking advantage of the situation, both detainees fled the spot.

“While they were being questioned, accused Md. Naobi suddenly attacked Khoirom Suresh with a knife, inflicting grievous injuries,” police said, adding that both the accused fled the spot. Suresh was taken to Thoubal District Hospital, where he later died during treatment. After the incident, a team of police commandos raided Moijing Khongkok and arrested Md Naobi on Thursday morning, while the other detainee remains at large. The police have launched an intensive search operation to nab the other suspect.
