On December 23, there was report of an incident of sexual assault in Anna University in Tamil Nadu. A girl from the University, who had been in a two-year romantic relationship with a fellow student, met her boyfriend at their usual secluded spot on campus. Two unidentified individuals confronted them, assaulted the boyfriend, and sexually harassed the woman.
Reportedly, the perpetrators forced her to undress, then filmed her without consent. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the Kotturpuram police. Student organisations in the state have been demanding the arrest of the perpetrator.
As per reports, the perpetrator, Gnanasekaran, is a repeat offender and affiliated with the DMK. There are allegedly photographs circulating showing him alongside prominent DMK figures, including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister M. Subramanian.
