Singer Badshah summoned by Haryana State Commission for Women over vulgar lyrics in his latest song Tateeree

Rapper and singer Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, has been issued a summons by the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) following complaints about allegedly indecent and derogatory lyrics in his latest Haryanvi track, ‘Tateeree’.

The commission has scheduled a hearing for 13 March in Panipat, where the artist is expected to appear and explain the song’s content. The summons has been issued on the basis of complaints filed by several persons, Savita Arya, Chairperson of Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti, and Shiv Kumar, Director of Shiv Aarti India Foundation.

The summons asks both the complainants, along with Badshah, to be present during the hearing on 13 March at the HSCW office in Panipat.

The controversy erupted shortly after the song’s release on 1 March 2026, a collaboration featuring Haryana state-level boxing champion Simran Jaglan and producer Hiten.

Described as blending raw Haryanvi culture with modern hip-hop vibes, ‘Tateeree’ has amassed views but also drawn sharp criticism for lyrics accused of objectifying women, promoting indecency, and potentially influencing minors negatively.

Complainants, including local groups and social activists, argue that the track contains vulgar language that offends cultural norms and modesty, with specific concerns over its portrayal of schoolgirls. Netizens also pointed out that in the video of the song, dancers were appearing school uniforms, indicating objectifying minor schoolgirls.

HSCW chairperson Renu Bhatia confirmed that the commission took cognisance of the matter after receiving multiple complaints.

“The lyrics are indecent and violate cultural boundaries,” Bhatia stated, emphasising the panel’s role in protecting women’s dignity under the Haryana State Commission for Women Act, 2012.

Additionally, a separate complaint was filed with Punjab Police by advocate Kamal Anand, alleging the song glorifies drug use and obscenity.
