Amid outrage against UK’s Muslim Grooming Gangs, Mehdi Hasan, who called Kafirs animals, is worried about ‘demonisation’ of Pakistanis – not the rapes

Discussions and debates around UK Grooming Gangs have been reignited across various political and social spheres both in the UK and on international platforms after Musk raised the issue, bringing global attention to the organized crime that went on for decades in the UK, with police turning a blind eye. Amid the ongoing uproar on how thousands of minors were raped by Pakistani Muslims in the UK, Mehdi Hasan is outraged – but not about the rapes of minors.

On the 6th of January, Mehdi Hasan, the former MSNBC host who was taken off the air because his Islamist rants found few takers, took to X (formerly Twitter) to rave and rant about how Elon Musk was ‘demonising’ Pakistani Muslims amid the ongoing debate on UK Grooming Gangs.

Hasan claimed that Elon Musk was demonising Pakistanis in the UK to please the racist far-right after being at odds with them over the H1B visa issue, where Musk spoke in favour of high-skilled Indian workers getting visas to the US.

Interestingly, Elon Musk only spoke about the Grooming Gangs, predominantly made up of Pakistani Muslims, and not Pakistanis in the UK as a generalised population. But Mehdi Hasan extrapolated that to demonising Pakistanis, essentially hinting that talking about rape gangs meant demonising all Pakistanis. Further, Hasan seems far more worried about the mythical ‘demonisation’ compared to the rapes of thousands of innocent young girls.

Mehdi Hasan has long held Islamist views. Years ago, his video calling all non-Muslims (Kafirs) animals went viral sparking backlash.
