CJI DY Chandrachud rebuked advocate Manish Tewari after he anticipated the Centre abrogating the special provisions in Northeast under Article 371

More than 20 petitions are pending before the Supreme Court challenging the Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370.

Rayees Mattoo said that he waved the Indian flag as the emotions for doing it came from his heart. He categorically asserted that he waved the Indian Tricolour without any pressure from anyone. He further stated that there can’t be a better nation than India, stating “Saare Jahaan se acha, Hindustan hamara”

The constitutional bench comprised of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai and Surya Kant and CJI DY Chandrachud noted that back in 1957, the constitution Jammu and Kashmir constituent assembly accepted was the Indian constitution with certain modifications and exceptions.

A report by Asian Lite said abrogation of Article 370 has improved the economic state of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
