Bhajan Lal Sharma's appointment is seen as a major deviation from the general political trend. Usually, seniority and political growth had been adjudged by the number of times a leader has been elected to the state assembly or Lok Sabha. However, 56-year-old Sharma is a first-time MLA.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Sharma’s name was proposed by Former state CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia which was seconded by many senior MLAs including Kirodi Lal Meena.
"Jharkhand Congress MP is only the owner of the company. BJD govt was managing it in Odisha. What was the Vigilance, Crime Branch, Excise, EOW doing when the company was amassing such wealth, and how the state govt had no information about it? This liquor business is the source of money for BJD during elections", the BJP has asked.
