The CPM candidate from Kannur Lok Sabha seat, MV Jayarajan, alleged that the Congress in Kerala is pro-BJP and claimed that the Kerala Congress chief is willing to join the BJP.
Although the Left parties and the Congress are part of a larger INDI bloc, they are opposed to each other in Kerala where the Congress is currently in opposition as part of the UDF alliance.
PM Modi said that Congress and CPM take a hypocritical stand as they are enemies of each other in Kerala but become BFFs (best friends forever) outside the state politics.
The leader meanwhile also criticized the National Education Policy (NEP) and said that the policy has been introduced by the Central government to 'saffronize' the education system and that the Governor of Kerala Arif Mohammed Khan was conniving against the state.

The letter written by Viswam is directly in contrast with the previous stance of the CPM government in West Bengal, which had ordered that there should be no mention of Muslim atrocities in textbooks during their tenure.
