US President Donald Trump said he did not want PM Narendra Modi and other world leaders who visited him to see the tents and graffiti in Washington DC and has ordered the cleaning up of the American capital.
"Many leaders of states, among them the President of the People's Republic of China, the Prime Minister of India, the Presidents of Brazil and the Republic of South Africa are addressing this issue and give it a lot of their time. We are grateful to all of them for that because this activity is aimed at achieving a noble mission - the mission of ending hostilities and loss of life", Putin said.
Trump stated that the tariff hike was in response to Ontario Premier Doug Ford's decision to impose a 25% tax on electricity exports to the U.S.—a move that itself was a reaction to Trump's initial 25% tariffs on Canadian imports.
Trump's team is considering restricting NGOs from receiving foreign funding and limiting international collaborations involving USAID-backed entities. The administration is also investigating whether NGOs bypassed campaign finance laws by funneling money through ActBlue’s donation network.
The US President signed an executive order to delay 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods covered under the North American Trade Agreement dismissing any links to market turbulence.
Justifying reciprocal tariffs, the US President said that other countries have been unfairly taxing the US and therefore now it is the turn of the US to tax them.
Billionaire investor Warren Buffet has described Trump's tariffs as ' an act of war'. "Tariffs are actually-we've had a lot of experience with them-they're an act of war, to some degree," said Buffet. He said that tariffs are ultimately paid by consumers who purchase taxed goods. "The Tooth Fairy doesn't pay'em, " he added.
