Vctim Pulak Kumar informed, "I and my brothers had been living on this land, which was purchased about 40 years ago. We have all the documents. Bitan and his aides trespassed into our land, created chaos and began a fight."
While speaking about the matter, temple caretaker Uttam Karmakar stated, "I went to the temple on Sunday (2nd March) morning to offer puja and found the idol broken."
The victim Supta Saha Anik is a student of Rajshahi University and a member of the Chhatra League, the banned student wing of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League.
"What is very troubling for India is the spate of attacks on minorities. It obviously is something that impacts our thinking. It is something we have to speak up about, which we have done," S Jaishankar said.
"Many people say many things on social media...We cannot respond to everything said there as government authorities," the cultural adviser to Muhammad Yunus said when asked about the threats.
"Sumon Kumar Pal was hit on the head. It was only after that they robbed the shop. If the purpose was robbery, then they would not have hit him with the intention to murder," the locals told Ajker Patrika.
The attack was carried out by extremists, who came to the temple in a white car at about 3:45 am on Thursday .Thereafter, they vandalised the idols of the Hindu deities and fled the scene.
