On Sunday, the first batch of the last remaining Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan landed in India. India is to grant them permanent residency and eventually citizenship.
Earlier, a 55-year-old Nidan Singh Sachdeva, an Afghan Sikh community leader was abducted by extremist groups and was released after much effort by Indian and Afghan authorities.
The plot was allocated by the Islamabad city development authority to the local Hindu community to build a temple, the first Hindu temple in the Pakistani capital city.
