The Madras High Court observed that 2000-year-old temples in the State are in ruins, which has facilitated miscreants to 'lay their hands on the idols.'
The Madras High court concluded that similar acts of 'resistance' by other religious groups would result in loss of lives, destruction of properties, riots, religious fights and chaos.
“The Central Government may consider imposing punishment, such as, 'hanging' or 'death penalty', for corrupt practices or for demanding and accepting bribes, like in China, North Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Morocco", the High Court bench said.
