Rahul Gandhi had tweeted a photo of a minor girl victim's family with a caption stating that they were the father and the mother of the victim child, thus disclosing the details of the minor victim.
The Court held that under Section 29 of the POCSO Act 2012, it is for the accused to defend himself once the prosecution proved the offence and the Court had drawn its presumption.
The pastor allegedly assaulted the minor girl on June 22. When the 10-year-old victim’s mother got to know of the incident, she filed a police complaint in the Sarpavaram police station.
As per reports, Arjun panicked after the incident and spread the rumor of the minor's accidental death. However, the autopsy report revealed sexual assault and a detailed investigation led to his arrest.
The accused include Harpal Singh Thapar, the director of the NGO and his wife Pushpa Rani Tirkey, the chairperson of East Singhbhum district CWC, the warden, her son and a staff member Tony Singh.
The police have also deployed additional teams in the area to contain the law and order situation that might flare up owing to the rape of a minor Dalit girl by perpetrator of another community.
