This armed conflict lasted from 1990 to 2002. During this period, the village defence forces seized weapons such as machine guns and Sten guns and handed them over to the government. At one point, they possessed 16,000 weapons, including 9,500 licensed ones.

Songs with obscene visuals and cheap lyrics have been a part of poll campaigns in Bihar. However, RJD supporters are making songs with crowd brandishing guns, rifles and lathis, glorifying violence, implying dominance, caste-based intimidation, specifically a “Yadav Raj”, abduction of those who dare to oppose them.

Many users pointed out that the violent language echoed the brutal methods once associated with Mohammad Shahabuddin, who was infamous for burning people alive with acid.

The reason behind this perpetual lack of consensus and unity is that the alliance is a blend of political parties with different and sometimes opposing ideologies, which came together to put up a fight to throw the NDA out of power.
