The BNP leader claimed that India's provision of shelter to Sheikh Hasina violates its commitment to democracy. According to Fakhrul, 'fascist' deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country due to the student-led 'revolution'.
Downplaying the anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh, The New Yorker’s reporter Isaac Chotiner said that there are ‘fears’ that Hindus have been targeted in this ‘revolution. This comes despite the fact that more than 205 attacks on Hindus by Islamist mobs have been reported.
While responding to a query on atrocities against Hindu Americans and Hindus in Bangladesh, the official White House Spokesperson said that they are continuing to monitor the situation but they don’t have anything else to add.
While the denouncement of the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh is appreciated, Vivek Ramaswamy missed some crucial points in his post. The 2024 anti-quota protests led by students were never anti-government protests since it was the Sheikh Hasina-led government which scrapped the quota for government jobs.
Following the incident on 5th August, sources linked with family of Rahul Anand family and the founding member of the band had mentioned that a mob attacked and “torched” the musician’s house.
