Shaista's boyfriend Brijesh Patel has accused her family of honour killing.

At the Republic summit, Prime Narendra Modi regaled the audience with an amusing joke about a professor fussing over the spelling of a word after his daughter pens a suicide note saying she will end her life at the Kankariya Lake.

In his complaint, Brijesh alleged that Shaista's family members are behind her death because they opposed their relationship.

According to police, Sampath J Ram was suffering from depression for not getting desired opportunities in the Kannada film and serial industry. 

SP of the Beed district said, "The police will initiate action against anyone spreading rumours about the incident and giving it a communal colour."
