Tamil daily Dinamalar reported that the DMK-led-Tamil Nadu government had given 'unofficial verbal directive' to temples against conducting special prayers and offering Annadanam (free food) on the occasion of Ram Mandir Pran Prathistha.
On 3rd October PM Modi while addressing a rally in Telangana's Nizamabad remarked that the state government had captured the temples and that the temples were being looted through a conspiracy involving governments.
SC agreed to look into a series of petitions alleging that the Tamil Nadu govt is trying to appoint 'non-believers' as archakas (priests), contrary to the age-old Agamas governing temples in the State
Despite its initial reluctance to hear the petition, the SC eventually agreed to issue notice to the TN Govt and the DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his anti-Sanatan remark
