SC to expedite hearing in the Unnao rape case, set to transfer all 5 cases out of Uttar Pradesh

Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is the prime accused in the 2017 high profile rape case.

The hearing in Unnao rape victim’s car accident case is underway in the Supreme Court.

In the latest, the Supreme Court on Thursday, said all the 5 cases related to the Unnao rape case will be shifted out of Uttar Pradesh. It has also sought the presence of all CBI officers involved in the cases at 12 noon today to get the status report.

Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi has sought full information on the investigations both in the rape case as well as on the accident, in which the survivor and her lawyer are critical, while two of her aunts were killed. “We want a full report,” the Supreme Court said.

The Supreme Court has sought the CBI reports by today noon. The CJI pulled up the CBI and Uttar Pradesh police and refuse to adjourn the hearing in the Unnao rape victim’s accident case.

Chief Justice of India asks Solicitor General to interact with CBI Director, regarding the Unnao rape and road accident. Supreme Court said that if necessary, chamber hearing may take place.

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has also taken up the letter written by the family of the Unnao rape survivor, alleging threats to their lives from rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. In a letter, the lawyer Mahendra Singh had requested the District Magistrate to get him a weapon licence as he perceived threat to his life.

The Unnao rape victim had also written to the CJI on July 12, fifteen days prior to the tragic road accident she met with on July 29, about the threats she was allegedly receiving from Kuldeep Sengar’s men.

Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is the prime accused in the 2017 high profile rape case. The case pertains to how the victim was lured and raped by a host of people, including the BJP MLA and how co-ordinated and meticulous schemes were hatched to silent the victim and intimidate her relatives by framing them in police cases based on flippant charges.

On Sunday, the victim of the Unnao rape case was travelling to Rae Bareli with her two aunts, and her lawyer Mahendra Singh when their vehicle was hit by a truck, rendering them critically injured. The vehicle collided with a truck going in the opposite direction towards Lalganj in UP. The victim is now battling for her life.

Two of her aunts were killed in the accident while her lawyer also sustained serious injuries. The woman’s family has filed a complaint alleging “conspiracy” behind the car crash.
