Maharashtra: Jayant Patil to replace Ajit Pawar as NCP legislative party leader, SC to hear NCP-Congress-Sena joint plea tomorrow

The joint plea by the trio against the decision of Maharashtra Governor inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form the government on November 23 will be heard by the Supreme Court, tomorrow at 11.30 am in the morning.

The meeting which was being convened at the YV Chavan Centre by NCP chief Sharad Pawar has concluded. After the meeting, NCP leader Nawab Malik told the media that a resolution was passed that the party does not endorse Ajit Pawar’s decision to ally with BJP to form the Maharashtra government and that the party has removed him as NCP legislative party leader.

Jayant Patil, supposedly a close aide of the party supremo is set to replace Ajit Pawar as NCP legislative party leader.

The new BJP-led government in Maharashtra will be defeated in the Assembly Speaker’s election, NCP leader Nawab Malik told reporters. He expressed confidence that the NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena combine will come to power in the state.

After the meeting, which the party claimed was attended by 50 out of the total strength of 54 MLAs, all the MLAs are being shifted to the Renaissance Hotel in Mumbai.

Failing to form the government NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena submitted a writ petition in the Supreme Court against Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra. They are demanding that the governor’s actions in the morning should be declared illegal and Sena-NCP and Congress should be invited to form the government in Maharashtra.

As per recent reports, the joint plea by the trio against the decision of Maharashtra Governor inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form the government on November 23 will be heard by the Supreme Court, tomorrow at 11.30 am in the morning.

The political drama in Maharashtra is becoming more and more intriguing ever since BJP along with Ajit Pawar of NCP threw a curve in the wee hours of the morning to end the Maharashtra impasse. Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as the CM whereas NCP’ Ajit Pawar as his deputy.

NCP and Shiv Sena strongly voiced their resentment over Ajit Pawar switching sides and giving his support to BJP.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar had earlier in the day alleged that the list of supporting MLAs submitted to Governor B.S. Koshyari by ‘rebel’ Ajit Pawar was not an official list of the party.
