On Thursday (19th March), the mother of the RG Kar rape-murder victim spoke to the media and expressed her desire to contest the upcoming West Bengal Vidhan Sabha election on a BJP ticket.
“I only decided that I want to contest this election as a BJP candidate. It was not decided at the last minute,” she was hearing saying.
The woman pointed out, “We were told about it before, but I was not ready for it. I realised that women’s safety and security, and the well-being of people, are greatly compromised here.”
“I have joined the BJP to uproot the Trinamool,” she reiterated. For the unversed, elections in West Bengal are scheduled to take place on 23rd and 28th April this year.
In August 2024, a junior doctor was brutally raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The accused, Sanjay Roy, was later sentenced to life for rape and murder.
