On 13th May (Wednesday) morning, 38-year-old Prateek Yadav, the son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav with his second wife Sadhna Gupta and half-brother of current party supremo Akhilesh Yadav passed away in Lucknow. He was the husband of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Aparna Yadav who was in Assam at the time and returned right away after learning about the demise.
Dr GP Gupta, the director of Civil Hospital, verified the development and stated how a team of medical professionals hurried to his home after receiving information that he was unwell at around 5 in the morning and added, “When the doctors reached there, his condition appeared critical. He was brought to the hospital, and despite all efforts by the medical team, he was declared dead at 5:55 am.”

A call was received from Yadav’s place alerting about his deteriorating condition and requesting immediate assistance at around 4:55 am. He was reportedly taken to the hospital at almost 5:30 am. Civil Hospital CMS Dr DC Pandey conveyed that the man’s heart had stopped beating and his pulse had entirely stopped. According to Gupta, a postmortem examination would be necessary to determine the precise cause of death.
The body underwent an autopsy by a team of doctors from the King George Medical University and hospital. It was known that a panel of three or four doctors did the procedure which was videotaped. According to preliminary findings, he showed no obvious evidence of injuries.
Yadav had long suffered from lung-related problems. He was receiving therapy for a pulmonary blood clot. He even went abroad for treatment. On 30th April, he was admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow. Three days later, he apparently showed improvement and came back home without obtaining a formal hospital discharge.
After completing his higher education at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, Yadav landed in India to pursue a career in real estate and fitness entrepreneurship. He ran a gym in Lucknow named “The Fitness Planet” and was well-known in local business circles. He also oversaw “Jeev Ashray,” an organsation dedicated to the care, feeding, treatment and rescue of stray dogs.
Yadav steered clear of politics and public attention but captured headlines when he alluded to separation and discord with his wife in January. “I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants is to be famous and influential. Right now, I am in a very bad mental condition ad she does not bother. All she bothers about is herself. I have never seen such a bad soul. I was unfortunate to get married to her,” he wrote on social media, terming her a “family destroyer.”
However, it was later indicated that things had improved, and the pair even posted their photos, suggesting that tensions had subsided. In 2017, Yadav bought a Lamborghini for Rs 5 crore, leading to a controversy after which he claimed that it was on loan.
