Muslims give death threats to activist Nazia Elahi Khan, call her ‘R*ndi’, and threaten to slit her throat: Here is what happened

On Sunday, 21st June, activist Nazia Elahi Khan said that she received fresh threats and abusive remarks from two Muslim men in separate videos circulating online. Sharing the clips on her X account, Nazia wrote that one of the individuals was a Muslim journalist who used derogatory language against her, while another openly threatened to slit her throat.

Nazia shares video of ‘journalist’ using abusive language

Nazia first shared a video and wrote, “This is Salman, a Muslim journalist! He is likely from Maharashtra! This journalist represents the fourth pillar of democracy, yet in this report, he is calling me a whore! Is it perhaps permissible for a Muslim journalist to hurl filthy, abusive insults at a woman? That is why he is openly calling me a whore!”

In the video, a man identified by Nazia as Salman can be heard expressing anger towards her and making several personal remarks. He says that her actions had made him so angry that he felt like beating her, although he claimed he was “helpless” and could not do so. He then went on to question her background and family upbringing and said, “ye aisi hai to iski maa kaisi hogi.”

Referring directly to Nazia, Salman said, “The woman you see in the background is Nazia Elahi Khan. She is neither Khan, nor Nazia, nor anything connected to Elahi.” He then used a derogatory Hindi term and called her “R*ndi” and added that he had not wanted to use the word but felt compelled to do so.

Another Muslim man threatens to slit her throat

Later on the same day, Nazia shared another video in which a man identified as Abdul from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, issued a direct death threat against her.

Sharing the clip on X, Nazia wrote, “This is Abdul from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, who is making a video threatening to slit my throat! And he is even ready to go to jail!”

In the video, Abdul openly declared in the video that he was willing to face legal consequences and imprisonment if necessary, while threatening violence against her.

The activist highlighted both videos as examples of the threats and abuse she has been receiving from Muslims online. The latest incidents add to a series of controversies involving Nazia Elahi Khan, who has often been at the centre of heated political and social debates on social media. As of now, there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities regarding the two videos she shared.
