Jaipur: News24 tries to hide the Congress link of a “farmer” leader who organised dairy farmers’ protest in Jaipur

A protest was organised in Jaipur, reportedly against unfair laws and the escalating crisis in the dairy industry. The participants released their own milk versions mixed with water to mock the government’s ethanol-blended petrol models. “Jaipur’s farmers erupt in anger over ethanol found in petrol. Farmers release M-20, M-50, M-100 milk,” wrote News24 while sharing a video of the event.

However, the “farmer” leading the charge against the government was soon revealed to be a Congress leader. His photographs with Rahul Gandhi and Yogendra Yadav were also posted on social media.

The man is Raman Yadav, a member of Jaipur Milk Producers’ Struggle Committee. Notably, he is also the national secretary for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Abhiyan. Yadav is also the national vice president of Yuva Halla Bol, a group linked with the Congress party.

The agitation was allegedly organised in response to the adulteration of milk and milk products. The demonstrators claimed that fake milk products are being sold at far lower prices while real milk producers are having difficulty obtaining reasonable prices.

“Dairy farmers” in Punjab had earlier spilt hundreds of litres of milk on roads, accusing the authorities of not acting to stop the spread of contaminated milk and dairy products. Farmers’ unions insisted that milk prices have not grown correspondingly to the rising costs of cattle feed and fodder, increasing their financial burden.

They complain that contaminated milk, purportedly made with dangerous replacements, is being sold in a number of markets. In addition to calling for higher milk prices, the demonstrators sought harsh punishment for individuals engaged in the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit milk and its byproducts. They threatened larger protests if authorities did not address their concerns.
