A woman who flew to Kuwait for domestic work has appealed for assistance. She has been identified as Vanitha (or Anitha). She has two teenage children and is from Tamil Nadu. The woman has stated that she has been severely abused and tortured, as well as denied salary for the last two months. She submitted that she has been living without adequate food for more than fifty days.
A few months ago, the woman was helped by intermediaries or agents to reach Kuwait for employment. She mentioned that she has stayed in the country for three months and endured extreme abuse and torture for at least two of those months. She pleaded with the Superintendent of Police and the Kallakurichi District Collector to step in, save her and return her to India.
“It has been three months since I came here. They are torturing me and treating me very cruelly. I request the Collector madam and the SP madam to somehow rescue me alive and help me return to my motherland, India. I cannot bear it anymore,” the woman expressed in a video.
“They have not even paid me my salary for two months. They are treating me very badly. Please somehow save me and take me back. Please save me and take me back somehow. I am unable to bear this. I am afraid they will kill me. I cannot take it anymore,” she further highlighted.

Anila, her mother, also pleaded with the authorities to take action and repatriate her daughter as soon as possible. She disclosed that her daughter was being “treated very cruelly and tortured” and the family had been duped by an agent. Additionally, she requested the authorities to guarantee her daughter’s safe return to India. “The agent cheated her. She has a son and a daughter. They took her for domestic work, but they torture her. Please get my daughter home alive, Madam Collector. I ask you with folded hands,” Anila conveyed.
Authorities in Tamil Nadu were able to identify Vanitha’s mother and other family members after seeing the footage and confirming that she is from Kallakurichi. Since then, the family has filed a complaint asking for her to be saved and brought back to India. Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police Shahnaz informed, “We have confirmed Vanitha is from this district. We have located her family and received a complaint. We have connected them with the right authorities to follow it up and rescue her,” while talking to NDTV.
This is not the first time an Indian citizen has made such an appeal from Kuwait. In 2024, Gara Kumari, a widow with three children, made a video unveiling that her employers had tortured her. “They are not giving me proper food. They are trying to kill me. Please save me and send me back to my children,” she begged at the time. She was from the Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh.
