Delhi Police continued to detain several leaders and protesters amid the imposition of Section 163 of the BNSS, in various parts of the national capital ahead of the CJP’s proposed unlawful protest in the national capital. After the detention of CJP leaders, Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das earlier in the day (October 10, 2026), the Delhi Police later detained AAP national convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal outside his residence while he was marching towards Jantar Mantar to join the protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Former Kerala Chief Minister and senior CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI(M) MP John Brittas and several other communist leaders were also stopped and detained by the Delhi Police while they were trying to reach the CJP’s unauthorised protest site at Jantar Mantar. The police also detained former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, preventing him from reaching the location.
#WATCH | Delhi: Former Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, along with CPI(M) MP John Brittas, detained by police following a protest outside Kerala Bhawan. John Brittas says, "Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan, former Chief Minister of Kerala and now the opposition leader in the Kerala assembly, and KN Balagopal, former finance minister and senior CPI(M) leader, and I, John Brittas. We were then taken in a police jeep. We were taken round and round in Delhi city. Thereafter, we were taken to Chhatrasal Stadium. After 30-45 minutes, we were again taken to a police jeep. And we don’t know where we are going. This is the situation… Delhi is under siege. Delhi has been completely taken over by the Delhi police. I feel that basic civil liberties are being taken away by the Delhi police and also the central forces… If PM Modi and Amit Shah think that they can protect Gyanesh Kumar, let us warn them that they also will sink along with Gyanesh Kumar. No fascist who has panicked and resorted to force has survived in history." (Source: Office of John Brittas)

Apart from this, the Delhi Police detained around 100–150 protesters affiliated with left students organisations, the All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), on Minto Road in Delhi after they tried to breach the police barricades. Some SFI and CJP supporters attacked police personnel and pelted stones at them near the PTI building in Connaught Place, close to Jantar Mantar.
The Delhi Police had ramped up security arrangements across the national capital after the CJP tried to create unrest in the guise of organising a protest demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The police had denied permission for the protest, considering the widespread violence that happened during previous CJP-led protests in June. Nonetheless, the CJP leaders and opposition politicians urged people to reach Jantar Mantar, and they themselves tried to march towards the spot, after which the police detained them to maintain law and order.
