Massive damage by earthquake in Nepal, here are some latest development and useful resources

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 in magnitude on the Richter scale followed by a series of aftershocks have hit several parts of Nepal on Saturday, causing huge damage to infrastructure, human lives and nature.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) has claimed that the epicentre of the quake was Lamjung district in western part of Nepal. Tremors were also reported from the many parts of India, including Delhi, Kanpur, Patna, Kolkata and Sikkim.

According to the latest available data, 14 casualties are reported in Bihar. The death toll has reached 688 in Nepal. The earthquake has triggered an avalanche on the Mount Everest, climbers have expressed fear for many people who have gone up for climbing.


The Indian Government has proactively acted to normalize things in Nepal by understanding the issue and extending required support. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a high-level meeting at 3 p.m. to discuss situation emerging due to earthquake. PMO and MEA are actively updating their action plan on the social media.
