“Start-up in politics… launched again and again”: PM Modi at Startup Mahakumbh takes a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s re-launches

On Wednesday (20th March), Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing the ongoing Startup Mahakumbh event in Delhi. Addressing the entrepreneurs, PM Modi took a dig at the Congress leader stating that many startups are launched in politics which has to be re-launched again and again adding that they (political entrepreneurs, reference to Congress leadership) fail to do experimentation or focus on another startup.

He said, “…Start-up toh bohot log launch karte hain, aur politics mein toh zyada. Baar baar launch karna padta hai. Aap mein aur unme fark yeh hai ki aap log prayogsheel hote hain, ek agar launch nahi hua to turant doosre par chale jaate hain…” (Translation – So many people launch startups, but the difference between you and them is that you are experimental and shift to the next startup in case of its failure.)

During the event, PM Modi highlighted that India’s startup ecosystem has undergone a transformative change. He asserted that it is not limited to metro cities rather it has now become a social culture.

“Earlier, when someone talked about business, he used to talk about money and not about ideas. It has to be done, but where will the money come from, this startup ecosystem has broken that notion,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the government’s Startup India initiative gave a platform to innovative ideas, connected them to funding, and began ‘Tinkering Labs’ and ‘Incubating Labs’.

He further stated, “All such efforts helped the youth from tier 2 and tier 3 cities to incubate their ideas.  Today, we can proudly say that our startup ecosystem is not limited to megacities. In fact, youth from small cities are pioneering the revolution in the startup ecosystem…”

PM Modi highlighted that India now has more than 1.25 lakh startups and around 110 unicorns. A unicorn is a designation for a privately owned startup company valued at more than $1 billion. He also emphasised the need for Indian entrepreneurs to patent their startups at the earliest.

“India is the world’s 3rd largest startup ecosystem. There are over 1.25 lakh registered startups which generate employment for over 12 lakh people.  India has over 110 unicorns… Our startups have registered over 12,000 patents. I request all of you to get your patent as early as possible…,” PM Modi added.

PM Modi asserted that Indian youth are no longer job seekers but are keen on becoming job providers.

He said, “Today, India has startups across sectors. From agriculture to space, we can find Indian startups everywhere. The space sector, which was once in shackles of the government, now has over 50 startups. The world sees the capability of Indian youth. Trusting their capabilities, we decided to fuel their aspirations… We have transformed people’s thinking; instead of being a job-seeker, the youth is now keen on becoming a job-provider…”

‘We used to go to their shop for a haircut’: Badaun victims’ father and brother refute ‘personal enmity’ angle peddled by media

On 19th March, the brutal murders of 11-year-old Aayush and 6-year-old Ahaan also known as Honey at the hands of Sajid and his brother Javed sent shockwaves in the country. Now, the grieving family members, including the victims’ father Vinod and 6 to 7-year-old brother Piyush who was also attacked by the accused but miraculously survived, have come forward to share their horrific ordeal and counter the ‘personal enmity’ narrative disseminated by the media in a despicable attempt to provide a reason behind the crime.

The distraught father expressed his continued horror at the incident and his lack of comprehension of its cause. He added that he was unaware of the encounter of one of the culprits, Sajid, by Uttar Pradesh Police when he tried to escape. He mentioned that he stayed at a different place and never interacted with the perpetrators.

His son Piyush voiced, “The man from the salon came and took my brothers upstairs and killed them. I don’t know why he killed them and also tried to do the same with me. However, I shoved the knife aside, pushed him back and ran downstairs. I suffered injuries in my hand and head. We regularly visited his salon for haircutting. The two accused had come to attack us.” He also did not know any hostility or arguments between the two sides.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Badaun, the alarming incident transpired at 7:30 in the evening at the deceased’s residence in the Civil Lines neighbourhood of Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun. Sajit attacked the three young boys when they were playing on the terrace where he succeeded in murdering two of them. A crowd did attempt to prevent him from absconding when he reached downstairs but he managed to flee.

The senior official conveyed that Sajid was eliminated when he fired bullets at the cops. The murder weapon and his revolver are already with the authorities. The First Information Report featured the names of both Sajid and Javed and the cops are searching for the latter. He also highlighted that the two asked for Rs 5,000 from the family members of the victims.

On the other hand, police held a flag march throughout the city, the next morning due to the increasing tension brought on by the horrifying event. The locals were furious over the incident which led to massive protests and were urged to maintain law and order in the area.

The victim’s family lives on a house’s third story in Baba Colony in Civil Lines. The mother works at a salon providing beauty services while the father is employed as a water tank contractor in Ghazipur. The couple was not at home when the instance happened.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, two minor Hindu children were murdered by accused Sajid after slitting their throats. A third child also suffered severe injuries on the neck and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sajid, who was subsequently gunned down in an encounter with the police, was accompanied by his brother Javed.

The father and uncle of the deceased Sajid, who was killed in a police encounter, have been detained by the Uttar Pradesh police for questioning regarding a double murder case in Budaun district. Two children were brutally murdered on Tuesday in Badaun’s Baba Colony. Subsequently, one of the suspects involved in the crime was killed in a police encounter.

“The children were playing on the terrace. The accused arrived, waited for a while, and then ascended to the terrace where they were and brutally murdered them,” stated Bareilly Inspector-General of Police Rakesh Kumar in an interview with news agency ANI.

At the Baba colony near the Mandi Samiti outpost, extensive police security was deployed as locals protested the horrific double murder. Budaun District Magistrate (DM) Manoj Kumar stated that some individuals became agitated following the incident and have been urged to maintain peace.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Danish Azad Ansari commented on the Badaun double murder, stating, “It is a tragic incident. The Yogi government, known for maintaining law and order, swiftly took action in the matter.”

The surviving brother of the two deceased children, who was also an eyewitness to the incident, recounted that two individuals came to their house and took his brothers to the terrace. Speaking to ANI, he mentioned that the accused attempted to attack him as well, but he managed to fend him off and escape.

“The man from the barber shop came here. He took my brothers upstairs; I don’t know why he killed them. He tried to attack me as well, but I defended myself against his knife, pushed him away, and ran downstairs. I sustained injuries to my hand and head. Two individuals, the accused, were here,” he recounted.

86 Muslim traders asked to leave Dharchula town of Uttarakhand after barber was arrested for abducting two Hindu minor girls, Muslims call it ‘elopement’, play victim

In Dharchula town of district Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand, the local traders’ association has asked 86 traders of the Muslim community to leave the town. The association cancelled their licenses after the police arrested a barber of the Muslim community for allegedly abducting two Hindu minor girls and taking them to his UP hometown, Bareilly, in February this year.

On 8th February, Pithorgarh Superintendent of Police Lokeshwar Singh said in a statement that they arrested a man named Irfan for abducting two minor Hindu girls from Dharchula, Uttarakhand. Irfan and his associate took them to Bareilly intending to marry them. A case against the accused was filed under Sections 363 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and appropriate Sections of the POCSO Act.

Reports suggest that Mohammad Irfan came in contact with the girls and lured them. He was working as a barber in Dharchula town. During interrogation, he revealed that he wanted to take them to Bengaluru. The girls were abducted on 1st February and recovered on 4th February.

Islamists and left-liberals cry foul

After the ultimatum given by the local traders, Islamists and left-liberals cried foul on social media, and a social media account, “Hate Detector”, published a post on the matter, painting the Muslims in the area as “victims”. The handle wrote, “In #Uttarakhand’s #Dharchula, local trader association cancelled the registration of 91 shopkeepers almost all #Muslims and locals are being urged not to rent out their shop and house to ‘outsiders’. Campaign to drive out “outsiders” is on in town after #Muslim man eloped with a local girl. Following the elopement on 1 February, the police arrested a man from #Bareilly two days later. However, local people continued their campaign against “outsiders”. Boycott calls were given during the campaign. “We will not give the shop and house on rent to the outsiders. Neither, we will buy anything from them,” said a speaker while addressing a crowd.” Interestingly, they painted abduction as “elopement” and targetted the locals who were horrified by the incident as if they were oppressing the Muslim traders.

X user Mukarram Hussain wrote, “One fish contaminates the entire pond. This is an example of that. Their decision is wrong. Nothing will be achieved by doing this but it ends the sense of belonging. People should always talk about unity.”

Fake news peddler Md Asif Khan wrote, “Muslim traders are being targeted in Uttarakhand.” He conveniently ignored to mention why Muslims were asked to leave the region.

Source: X

X user djjwsksdjwjjd called Hindus “terrorists” and called for their boycott in Islamic countries.

Source: X

X user book_of_evil claimed it was discrimination based on religion and claimed the minority religion was being persecuted. Interestingly, he also ignored the reason behind the demand for Muslims to leave the region.

Source: X

X user Seher presented as if Muslims were asked to leave just because they were “outsiders”. She questioned what would happen if the shops of Uttarakhandis in other states were forced to shut. She also called for arresting the locals for trying to save their women from Islamists.

Source: X

Dr Sumedh Anathpindika brought “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” into the argument and called the proclamations “unconstitutional”. However, Sumedh forgot to explain why local traders took such drastic steps.

X user PageBlank also called Hindus “terrorists” for asking Muslims to leave the region. The handle conveniently ignored the reason behind the call and wrote, “Hindutva terrorists have asked all the Muslim traders (86 in total) to leave the area and handover their properties to them in Utrakhand’s Dharchula town of Pithoragarh district. Local BJP officials are supporting these goons so Police is reluctant to take any action.”

It is interesting to note that none of the usual Islamists playing the victim on X mentioned that the action by the Hindu community came after the pandemic of Muslim men abducting minor Hindu girls in Uttarakhand. The Islamists want to paint this as the unilateral targeting of Muslims by the Hindu community in Uttarakhand, however, that is far from the truth. This is not the first time that the Hindu community has protested Muslim men luring minor Hindu girls.

Tensions in Uttarakhand after multiple cases of Love Jihad were reported in 2023

Cases of Love Jihad were reported in 2023 from the Purola and Chamoli regions of the state. On May 31, massive protests erupted in the Purola region after two boys one of whom was a Muslim abducted a Hindu minor girl. The Muslim boy had trapped the girl in a love affair and had promised her marriage. Later, the Hindu residents in the region demanded verification of ‘outsiders’ (most of whom are Muslims) residing in the city. Weeks after the incident, several Muslim shop owners left the place after Police began verification of outsiders.

On June 7, two Muslim youths attempted to elope with a minor Hindu girl in Gauchar town in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Gulzar alias Nitin (26) and Aslam (21) lured a 15-year-old Hindu girl and took her to a hotel on Tuesday, June 6. They told the hotel staff that the girl was the daughter of their maternal aunt. However, the hotel owner grew suspicious and informed the police about it. Meanwhile, one of the accused escaped along with the minor girl. The Hindu activists then protested outside the Gauchar police station and demanded action against the Muslim youths.

On June 18, two Muslim brothers from Bijnor in UP deliberately hid their real identity and posed as Hindus to trap two real sisters who were practising Hindus in Dehradun. Reportedly, the elder brother, Mohammad Salik, also raped a girl on the pretext of marriage. He worked as a junior advocate in the Dehradun court for a year. Meanwhile, his younger brother is studying for an MBBS in Bangladesh.

To gain the trust of Hindu girls, the accused duo tied kalava, bad-mouthed Muslims, and even took the sisters to watch ‘The Kerala Story’. However, the elder brother got exposed while making an online payment to the landlord for a flat in Panditwadi, and slowly, everything unravelled.

OpIndia also went to the Purola town in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, to investigate the facts to dispel the ‘secular’ narrative being peddled by the leftist media in the wake of the May 26 incident which involved the attempted abduction of a minor Hindu girl by accused Uved Khan.

When OpIndia inquired about this issue with certain individuals connected to Hindu organisations in Uttarkashi, the situation was contrary to what had been reported. Hindu organisations alluded to the Hindus of Uttarakhand as being the victims of the rapid demographic changes and land, business and love jihad happening in the state, rather than the Muslim migrants whom the leftist media and the ‘liberal’ coterie are busy projecting as victims.

While propagandists like Arfa Khanum Sherwani ran a narrative that Muslims were in danger, OpIndia’s investigation revealed the local Hindus in Devbhoomi were the ones who were truly terrified. The Uttarakhand police also denied that Muslims in Uttarkashi town were under any threat.

Why terming it ‘elopement’ is nothing short of whitewashing crimes against children

One of the Islamist handles, Hate Tracker, tried to whitewash the kidnapping of the minors by calling it ‘elopement’. This is a classic technique used by Islamists to whitewash religiously motivated gender crimes by Muslims. It is pertinent to understand here that when an adult lures a minor into what we call a “relationship”, it is not a consensual relationship per se because a minor would not have the maturity or agency to give consent to running away with the accused. Even according to the law, the minor would have less than adequate understanding of the consequences of her actions and therefore, her consent is not considered when evaluating the actions of the adult. The Islamists have often termed adult Muslim men luring minor Hindu children as consentual relationships in an attempt to whitewash the targeting of Hindu girls on religious lines.

‘I don’t believe that a Muslim killed them’; Sajid slits throats of Hindu minors in Badaun, Islamists and liberals on social media call it a fabricated story

On Tuesday (19th March), one Sajid killed two Hindu children Ayush and Honey by slitting their throats in their house in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. The accused Sajid has been killed in an encounter. Another accused Javed is also involved in this incident and is on the run. However, now Islamic fundamentalists have also come to the defence of these killers.

Islamic fundamentalists and liberals are trying to prove in this case that there was an old dispute between Sajid-Javed and the families of the deceased children. Through this, they are trying to present this gruesome murder as an outcome of a mutual dispute. Some fundamentalists are worried about why the common people of Badaun vented their anger at Sajid and Javed’s shop and set it ablaze.

One Md Sameed wrote, “Ram Rajya in Uttar Pradesh. Double murder in Badaun district. Brothers Ayush (14 years) and Honey (6 years) were murdered with razors. The accused are salon operators Sajid and Javed. The public set fire to the salon kiosk of the accused. There was some old dispute between both the parties!!”

Shadab Chauhan, who constantly spreads hatred on Twitter and calls himself a spokesman of the Peace Party, seemed more worried that the general public took out anger at Sajid and Javed’s shop. Shadab insisted that anger should not be shown against Javed and Sajid. He wrote, “Remember people, no one has the right to take someone’s life. If someone commits such a heinous crime, we strongly condemn it and demand strict action against the criminals, but this does not mean that some stray mob will go and kill someone. Burn the house. He will also become a criminal in the same way or the police will start doing the work of the court in the name of encounter, it is the job of the court to provide justice to the victims and punishment to the criminals. There can be many differences among the neighbours, there can be a dispute over something but it does not mean that someone becomes a murderer and on the other hand, the people on the other side, in a spirit of revenge, torch the house of a criminal to take revenge. , We condemn both the incidents.”

He also tried to peddle the narrative that there was a dispute between the two families and that is why the murder took place and then the house was burnt. However, it is clear that the house of the accused was not burnt but the salon run by the accused was vandalised. Shadab also said that the encounter killing of Sajid was wrong.

Another account named Babu Khan asserted that the rich get away with murder and that those who slit children’s throats are poor Muslims. Babu Khan, not expressing sensitivity to the murder, saw the Hindu-Muslim angle in this case and said that the killer was Muslim, which is why he was killed in an encounter.

He wrote, “Whoever commits murder, he must be punished. No matter what religion he belongs to. But the new law of India is that if the murderer is a Muslim, he should be punished, but if he is a Hindu, welcome him with garlands of flowers, and take out rallies, this is the new law of India, only for the poor. If the rich commit murders they become a leader, and people also welcome them.”

Another user Abrar Ansari highlighted issues like mob lynching rather than Muslim killers. He wrote, “An accused is accused. His place is in jail and he should get punishment. Otherwise, some people try to save the criminals by taking out rallies and celebrating mob lynching.”

Another person said on this matter that it is a conspiracy of ‘Sangh’. He said that the murder of children by slitting their throats with a razor is a made-up story. He also linked it to elections. He wrote, “The ‘Sangh’ got the job done. Javed was caught so quickly and was even killed. It’s all a ready-made story, many more such stories will come before the elections. Now all the Hindus are pouring out like a flood, praising Yogi and the police and abusing Muslims with hatred. The election atmosphere heated up. This is called the ‘Sangh’ politics.”

He even refused to believe that the murderer was Muslim. He wrote, “I do not believe that a Muslim killed, it is all a lie and a fabricated story like Godhra.”

News channel Aaj Tak also published news in this regard. In the comment section of the news channel Aaj Tak, many Muslims started calling it false news. They insisted that the accused was killed in an encounter because he was a Muslim.

Right now the police investigation is going on in this case and the accused Javed is being searched. Post-mortem of the children killed in the Badaun double murder case is yet to be conducted. A large police force is deployed to maintain law and order in Badaun.

The family of the victim has denied any existing dispute with Sajid and Javed, and said that they used to visit their salon for haircuts. The kids were killed when the two brothers visited their house to borrow ₹5000, and therefore the angle of existing dispute can be dismissed.

Anti-Hindu Delhi riots 2020: Sharjeel Imam terms his seditious speeches as ‘Gandhian’, Police opposes bail plea saying ‘he left no room for peaceful protest’

On Tuesday (19th March), the Delhi Police opposed the bail plea of Sharjeel Imam filed in the Delhi High Court. The bail plea was submitted in a sedition and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) case filed against Sharjeel Imam for his provocative speeches in Jamia Millia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University during anti-CAA protests in Delhi on December 13, 2019, and January 16, 2020, respectively.

The police mentioned Imam’s provocative speeches to argue that he rallied people of the ‘minority community’ and propagated ‘chakka jam’ as a means of disruption with “no window for peaceful protest.”

Notably, Sharjeel Imam, United Against Hate founder Khalid Saifi, and several others, including Umar Khalid, have been charged under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and provisions of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly being the masterminds of the February 2020 anti-Hindu riots in North-East Delhi, which killed 53 people and injured over 700 during anti-CAA protests.

On Tuesday Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad said that the protests were part of a scheme by the accused to incite violence during then-US President Donald Trump’s visit. Prasad added that Sharjeel Imam, in his public speeches, advocated the idea of ‘chakka jam’ as a plan of action, adding that “confrontational violence has to happen.”

“His speeches are completely for the purpose of mobilisation. It is targeting ‘you will be finished if you don’t come on roads, you will have nothing left’. All speeches are identical. All are about chakka jam, Babri, triple talaq, CAA and article 370. So mobilisation has been done, chakka jam has been done, confrontation has been done and then the riots happen,” Prasad said.

The Special Public Prosecutor further highlighted Imam’s speech wherein he spoke about “cutting off” the Northeast from the rest of the country by blocking the “chicken neck” corridor.

Meanwhile, Imam’s counsel contended that the accused’s means of disruption was ‘Gandhian’ and that he did not make calls for violence or terrorist act in his speeches.

This comes after the court rejected Sharjeel Imam’s statutory bail plea last month. While rejecting the plea, the Court had noted that even though Sharjeel Imam did not ask anyone to pick up weapons, his speeches captured the minds of people of “a particular community” and might be the reason for the outbreak of riots in the city. The next hearing in the matter is to take place on 20th March.

Sharjeel Imam was arrested by Delhi Police on 28th January 2020, from Bihar over inflammatory speeches against the Citizenship Amendment Act, advocating for the secession of Assam from the rest of India.

The accusations against Sharjeel Imam were framed under sections 124A (sedition), 153A, 153B, 505 of the IPC, and 13 of the UAPA as per Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat.

Imam has been charged with sedition, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, imputations prejudicial to national integration, and public mischief under the Indian Penal Code, and indulging in unlawful activities under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet against Sharjeel Imam in the matter, alleging that he offered statements inciting hatred, contempt, and disaffection toward the central government, as well as instigating the people who resulted in the December 2019 riots.

In January 2022, Delhi’s Karkardooma court slapped a fresh sedition charge against Sharjeel Imam over his provocative anti-CAA speeches.

Multiple FIRs were filed against Imam for a speech in which he allegedly asked the protestors to cut off Assam from India. FIRs were filed at Police stations in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. He also got bail in the cases filed at Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Imam was accused of making provocative speeches outside Jamia Milia Islamia University in December 2019 that led to violence outside the campus. In April 2020, he was charged with sedition by Delhi Police. According to the FIR, his speech promoted enmity between communities that led to the riots at the area where the University is located.

Another FIR in the Jamia case was registered against Imam in the Aligarh district. Both FIRs were registered in January 2020 under Sections 124 A (sedition) and 153 A (promoting or attempting to promote disharmony or feelings of enmity on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, caste or community or any other ground whatsoever), 153B (making statements provoking breach of peace) and 505(2) (statements made which are alarming, false intention to create disharmony) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Badaun: After barber Sajid killed two Hindu children, enraged locals set fire to the shop of the murderer, take to the streets demanding justice

Tensions flared up late night on Tuesday, 19th March, after Sajid slit the throats of two Hindu boys identified as Ayush, 14 and Honey, and injured a third child named Piyush. Sajid was killed in counter-fire by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

As per reports, as soon as locals heard the screams of the mother, they dragged her outside the house and shut the door. However, Sajid managed to escape. He was chased by the police and encountered.

Enraged, locals assembled in the area and vandalised Sajid’s salon shop and set it on fire. Some more shops near the salon were set ablaze by the angry crowd. As per reports, the angry crowd were nearing the place of worship of a particularly community, implying a mosque, in the area when the police stopped them.

Videos doing the rounds on social media show angry residents confronting the police authorities at the spot and raising slogans against the administration. They can be heard narrating to the police the brutality of the crime.

The angry locals also reached the police station and began sloganeering. As per reports, the SSP tried to reason with the crowd. Heavy police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the area to prevent the tensions from escalating.

Suspecting that the accused was inside the police station, the crowd also attempted to set fire to the police station by pouring petrol on the premises.

It was reportedly after the demonstration by the locals that Sajid was killed in the encounter. SSP Alok Priyadarshi gave orders to shut all markets in the city.

Vehicle movement was stopped on Majhiya road leading to a crowd jam near the police station. The crowd was eventually disbursed. Demonstrations were made by locals at the site of murder too.

As per reports, the police also raided the family of the accused Sajid in Sakhanu in the Alapur Police Station area where his family lives.

Meanwhile, SSP Priyadarshi has said that the situation is under control now and there is no problem in the city. The police are also closely monitoring social media.

A flag march was held by the police on Wednesday morning, 20th March.

Further investigation has revealed that Sajid used to frequent the house of the victim as his shop was located right opposite their residence.

After murder of Hindu children by Sajid, Taliban-loving Islamist Shadab Chouhan condemns police encounter, had incited violence in Haldwani too

A horrific double murder of two minor Hindu children in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district has sent shockwaves across the country. The minor children were murdered by accused Sajid and Javed after slitting their throats on the 19th of March. While the gruesome murder of two innocent Hindu children has angered the country, the Islamists have come out in defence of accused Sajid who was neutralised by the Uttar Pradesh Police in an encounter last night.

On Tuesday, Shadab Chouhan, a Peace Party spokesperson and full-time Islamist said that the Police should not have killed the accused Sajid in an encounter. The Taliban-loving Islamist was also miffed with the ‘stray mob’ for allegedly burning down the accused’s barber shop.

In an X post (archive), Shadab Chouhan wrote, “If someone commits such a heinous crime, we strongly condemn it and demand strict action against the culprits, but that does not mean that a bunch of stray mobs can go and burn someone’s house. He will also become a criminal in the same way or the police start working in the name of encounter, it is the job of the court that the victims get justice and the criminals are punished.”

“There can be many differences among the neighbours, there can be disputes about something, but this does not mean that someone becomes a murderer and on the other hand also the people in front of him burn his house to take revenge on a criminal, we condemn both the incidents,” Chauhan continued.

Unsurprisingly, Islamist Shadab Chouhan adopted a Janusian approach in the matter since the accused are his co-religionists. On one hand he is ‘condemning’ the heinous crime of Sajid and another accused Javed, on the other he is calling the agitated locals as ‘stray mob’ for allegedly burning down the “someone’s” house. Moreover, the Islamist also criticised Uttar Pradesh Police for killing accused Sajid in an encounter, as if it was a revenge exercise. However, contrary to his assertions Badaun SSP Alok Priyadarshi has informed that accused Sajid was trying to escape and had opened fire on police officials. Consequently, he was killed in a retaliatory fire.

“The accused Sajid…entered the house yesterday at around 7:30 pm and went to the terrace where the children were playing. He attacked the two children and murdered them. He then came down where the crowd tried to hold him back but he escaped…Police teams swung into action when they got to know that the accused had escaped…The accused fired at the police and was killed in retaliatory fire. The murder weapon and the revolver have been recovered…In the FIR, the family of the deceased children has also named the brother, Javed of the accused. Teams are working to find him and he will be arrested soon…According to the family, the accused had demanded Rs 5,000 from the father of the deceased children…” Badaun SSP said.

Notably, the agitated locals had reportedly burnt down the accused’s barber shop after learning about their horrifying deed. It is impossible for an Islamist like Shadab Chouhan to condemn a crime involving his co-religionist as accused without downplaying the crime, criticising the police and angry locals more than the criminal. In his post, Chauhan said that no matter how heinous the crime is, an “Aawara Bheed ka jhund” cannot burn “someone’s” house as if the locals burnt down a random person’s house. While violence in any case is not justified, the burning down of the accused barber shop is merely a reaction of the people over the gruesome murder of two innocent children.

If the crowd actually wanted to exact revenge, or deliver ‘mob justice’ they would have burnt the accused Sajid, not his shop.

Shadab Chouhan had a different reaction during Haldwani violence, he didn’t believe in ‘court justice’ then

Interestingly, while Shadab Chouhan is upset with the locals setting accused Sajid’s shop ablaze he himself had been at the forefront of inciting the riots in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani earlier this year. As we reported last month, Shadab Chouhan had posted provocative posts on X to instigate his co-religionists against the Uniform Civil Code.

“Open your ears and listen, CM Pushkar Dhami. No one has the guts to stop the Muslims in India from following the diktat of Allah and the ways of Prophet Muhammad. You are committing a big mistake if you consider us as weak. You do not have any idea of our power and might. We are ready for all forms of ‘constitutional struggle’,” one such post by Chauhan read.

It must be recalled that Islamists had resorted to stone pelting and arson in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani area on the 8th of February this year. The frenzied mob attacked authorities who went there to demolish a madrasa, which was built on illegally encroached govt land near the Banbhulpura police station, as per a court order. The Islamists pelted stones at the policemen and Haldwani Municipal Corporation workers present there. Later, they surrounded the police station and went on to set fire to the vehicles stationed outside the Banbhulpura police station. The rioters injured over 100 police personnel.

Notably, back in 2021, Shadab Chouhan had hailed the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban. “On the auspicious occasion our #IndependenceDay we got information that #Talibans entered in #Kabul peacefully. We congratulate them and hope they will run govt as per Ahkam e Ilahi Nizam e Mustafa, where any discrimination didn’t have place. We believe in peace & justice”, Shadab posted on X on 15th August 2021. The Islamist, however, deleted his X post later after facing backlash (not from his Indian co-religionists though).

Shadab Chouhan also has a history of threatening journalists like Aman Chopra in addition to supporting the persecution of Muslim women, protesting against the imposition of hijab in Iran.

‘Pelted stones, kept attacking, wanted to kill’: Union Minister Nitish Pramanik says TMC goons led by West Bengal minister Udayan Guha attacked him. Read details

On Tuesday (19th March), West Bengal’s cabinet minister Trinamool Congress Party’s leader Udayan Guha and his supporters allegedly attacked Union Minister of States Nisith Pramanik in Dinhata of West Bengal. The incident took place when Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Coochbehar Nisith Pramanik was returning from his campaign at Chowdhury Hat. Reportedly, Udayan Guha was coming back from Dinhata municipality chairman Gourishankar Maheshwari’s house where Maheshwari’s birthday was celebrated in the presence of several TMC workers.

These workers accompanied Guha on his way back where they encountered the union minister, tried to halt his convoy, and attacked him. Nisith Pramanik said in a media interaction that the TMC goons led by Udayan Guha wanted to kill him.

Dinhata SDPO Dhiman Mitra got injured in this incident. He received a head injury and was immediately admitted to a hospital. SDPO Mitra, arriving at the scene with a contingent to restore order, was struck on the head with a stick. He was not in uniform at the time. Additionally, two others suffered injuries.

A heavy police force was deployed in the area even after the police pacified the matter. Meanwhile, the TMC has called for a 24-hour bandh on Wednesday (20th March) after this incident. This is the first attack by the TMC goons on the BJP leaders and workers in West Bengal since the announcement of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.

BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya posted from his X handle, “TMC goons attack Union Minister and BJP’s Coochbehar candidate Nishith Pramanik. The cars in his convoy were vandalised. Udayan Guha, minister in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, lead the gang of armed criminals… This kind of state-sponsored crime signals the complete breakdown of law and order.”

While talking to the media about the incident, Nisith Pramanik said, “While returning from our scheduled campaigning program, we witnessed a TMC program. However, a group of TMC workers suddenly pelted stones at us, targeting our vehicle. They started attacking our vehicle with sharp objects. My convoy advanced a little then and the vehicles behind my convoy were under attack. My vehicle was also damaged.”

He added, “Later, I got down from my car when our vehicles were attacked. Udayan Guha with his TMC goons kept advancing towards us and attacking us. It’s really shameful how a public representative does hooliganism publicly. Before this, we have seen a close associate of Udayan Guha threatening the local businessmen in Cooch Behar. Tomorrow is Holi and TMC calls for a bandh before Holi Celebration. First, they attacked my convoy today, then they have called for a bandh ahead of Holl celebrations.”

TMC Minister Udayan Guha called for a 24-hour bandh in Dinhata, Coochbehar tomorrow in protest of what he called the “torture by central forces and Nisith Pramanik on people and police.” He said, “I was celebrating Municipality chairman Gourishankar Maheswari’s birthday when Nitish Pramanik’s convoy was crossing. He said certain things from his car and the TMC workers raised slogans ‘Jal Bangla’, later the BJP people came with sticks and bamboo in their hands and started beating people up, even people in the street were injured.”
