ISRO launches Young Scientist Programme for school students, read details on how to apply for the YUVIKA programme

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to organise a special programme for school children called the “Young Scientist Programme”, “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” (YUVIKA).

The key objective of this initiative is to impart basic knowledge on space science, space technology and Space Applications to younger students in emerging trends in space science and technology.

ISRO said it has chalked out this programme to “Catch them young”. Youngsters can be involved and excel in space science and technology if they get an opportunity because they are the future building blocks of the nation.

The YUVIKA programme is also expected to encourage more students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) based research and aligned careers.

The Young Scientist Programme – YUVIKA was conceived to impart basic knowledge on Space Science, Space Technology and space applications to younger students with a preference to rural areas of the country.

The programme is thus aimed at creating awareness about the emerging trends in science and technology amongst the school-going students. The programme envisages two weeks of class room training, practical demonstration of experiments, hands-on CANSAT, a Robotic kit, Model rocketry interactions with ISRO scientists and field visits.

The programme was conducted successfully in 2019, 2022 and 2023 with the participation of 111, 153 and 337 students, respectively, representing every State and Union Territory.

The course will cover classroom lectures, hands-on activities like robotics challenges, DIY assembly of rockets/satellites, sky gazing, etc., technical facility visits, and interaction with space scientists.

How to register for YUVIKA-2024?

The registration process for YUVIKA-2024 will be held from February 20 to March 20, 2024.

Step-1: Register in ISRO Antariksha Jigyasa Platform: https://jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/registration

Step-2: Verify your email as received after successful registration in above website. Please click on the verification link sent to your registered email ID.

Step-3: Participate in SpaceQuiz. Read Quiz guidelines carefully before appearing for the quiz.

Step-4: Fill in your personal profile and education details.

Step-5: Students need to take a photocopy of the certificates and attest the same by the Principal/Head of School signing the certificate for verification. The verified certificate needs to be scanned and uploaded to the website. The photocopy of attested certificates and certificate for verification need to be uploaded to the website.

Step-6: Generate your certificate for verification by your Principal/Head of School/ Parent/ Guardian (Any mismatch observed in the attached certificate(s) by the student and the certificate for verification submitted by the student will be liable for cancellation of the student’s candidature.).

Step-7: Scan and upload your document and submit the application.

Who can apply for YUVIKA – 2024?

Students studying in Class 9 as of January 1, 2024, within India are eligible to apply.

Applicants are advised to carefully review all the details entered in the application form, uploaded documents and certificates before submitting the application form. Ahmednagar: Pastor and his associates rape and threaten two 10-year-old girls in Church under the guise of ‘treatment from evil possession’, booked

On Friday (16th February), Maharashtra Police booked three individuals identified as Uttam Vairagar, Sanjay Vairagar, and Sunil Vairagar for sexually assaulting two 10-year-old minor girls from the Sonai region of Ahmednagar district. The accused persons worked as Pastors in a local church and threatened the minors to keep their mouths shut after they raped them multiple times under the guise of exorcism.

The incident is said to have happened in the Rajwada village of Ahmednagar’s Sonai region. The police have taken cognizance of the event and have booked the accused persons under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. Around 20 sections including rape charges have been imposed on the accused. A copy of the FIR has been obtained by OpIndia.

The FIR has been filed by a woman from Sonai identified as Supriya (name changed for security reasons). One of the girls who have been sexually assaulted by the Pastors is Supriya’s daughter while the other one is her niece.

As per the complaint, Supriya is a divorcee and stays with her parents in Sonai. She was introduced to the accused persons by one of the locals who said that all her problems would disappear if she went to the Church to see Pastor Uttam Vairagar and his associates. Supriya works as a daily labourer to earn a living. She stays with her parents, sister, 10-year-old daughter, and a minor niece.

Supriya, who got divorced from her husband 3 years ago, was struggling to survive. Meanwhile, she was also worried about her mother’s deteriorating health. To seek a solution to the escalating problems of her life and those related to her mother’s health, she agreed to see the Pastor at the local church.

After a couple of visits to the local Church, Pastor Vairagar suggested Supriya and her mother continue visiting the Church regularly. He also said that the two minor girls living with Supriya were possessed by evil spirits and that they needed immediate attention.

The Pastor then deceptively convinced the women that the 10-year-old girls needed to be treated in a closed room with no one else present inside. Supriya hesitated a bit but was assured after the pastors arrived at her residence to especially see her mother and check on her health.

The Pastor under the guise of offering a blessing, inappropriately touched Supriya making her feel uncomfortable. However, she opted not to doubt the intentions of the church authorities given their ‘religious position’. Later, the Pastor asked Supriya to send her daughter and niece to the church alone. He reiterated that the minor girls were possessed by evil spirits which resulted in the deteriorating health of her mother and that they both needed immediate personal attention.

However, as Supriya trusted the Pastor and sent her daughter and niece to the Church, the pastor and his associates sexually assaulted the girls and threatened them, as per the complaint. Vairagar asked them to remove their clothes and cooperate with the ‘treatment’ which involved inappropriate touching and sexual assault. The girls were threatened by the Pastor who asked them to keep their mouths shut.

As per the complaint copy, the minors were made to believe that their mother (Supriya) and grandmother would die if they uttered a single word about sexual assault to anybody. The accused also shot the video of the victim girls getting assaulted and shared the video with others.

The matter came to the attention of Supriya only after one of the locals showed her the derogatory video and warned her about sending her daughter and her niece to the Church. The woman was shocked to see the girls getting sexually assaulted in the video. On confronting the minors, they revealed that the Pastor had threatened them to keep her mouths shut.

The Police have filed a complaint against the three under sections 376(2), 376(2)(j), 376(2)(n), 376AB, 354A and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Sections 3, 4, 5f, 5m, 5l, 6, 7, 8, 9f, 9l, 9m, 10, 11 and 12 of the POCSO have also been imposed against the accused.

Further investigations into the case are underway.

An unidentified person was arrested by police on the morning of 16th February for allegedly shooting 20 street dogs dead and wounding five more in Ponnakal village of Addakula Mandal in Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district. He was booked under the violation of the Animal Cruelty Act and the Arms Act. Police reported that the wounded canines survived the rampage. The shocking incident transpired late on the 15th of February night.

Carcasses of dead dogs were discovered lying all over the place by the police. The motivation behind the crime is still not known. The animals were hit by bullets and not pellets. Authorities are now waiting for the post-mortem. Inspector M Ramakrishna of the Bhoothpur Police stated that the crime happened between 1.30 and 2.30 in the morning. The killings occurred in front of a few villagers. An eyewitness claimed that the accused drove up in a car and shot the dogs dead up close.

According to other reports, four individuals committed the horrifying crime. The locals mentioned that they arrived in a car and shot their weapons at the dogs. They asserted that the men were shooting dogs as they strolled around the village’s roads while donning masks.

The fear of firearms and howling dogs kept the people inside their homes. Some of the creatures that were hit by gunfire reportedly died instantly, while many of the injured dogs fled and died later on the streets. Many more animals were discovered hurt and over 20 dogs lost their lives.

After learning of the event, Bhutpur  Circle Inspector (CI) Ramakrishna, Addakula Sub Inspector (SI) Srinivasulu and the veterinary medical team arrived at the scene and found gunshots on the dead dogs’ corpses.

The images displayed various dog corpses scattered over the village. It was evident that some dogs were hurt and had trouble breathing. Additionally, locals were observed loading the dead bodies into a four-wheeler.

A panchayat official’s complaint led to the registration of a case at Addakal Police Station under section 429 (killing or maiming animals) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, besides the Arms Act.

West Bengal Minister Jyoti Priya Mallick was removed from his post on Friday (16th February) by Governor CV Ananda Bose with immediate effect reportedly on the advice of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

A statement from Raj Bhavan was released on the same. Mallick’s portfolios in the Department of Forests and the Department of Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction have been reassigned to Birbaha Hansda and Partha Bhowmick.

“In terms of Article 166(3) of the Constitution, Hon’ble Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose has relieved Shri Jyoti Priya Mallick, Minister in Charge, Department of Forests and Department of Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction of his duties as Minister with immediate effect and has been pleased to reallocate the Departments to Partha Bhowmick and Birbaha Hansda on the advice of the Hon’ble Chief Minister,” a release from the Raj Bhavan read.

While Minister-in-Charge Partha Bhowmick has been allotted the Department of Irrigation and Waterways and the Department of Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction, Minister of State Birbaha Hansda has been allocated the Department of Forests (Independent Charge) and the Department of Self-Help Group and Self Employment (Independent Charge), the Raj Bhawan stated.

The departmental reshuffle comes months after the Trinamool Congress formed a core committee for North 24 Parganas district after Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Mallick who was leading the district, landed up in Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody.

Mallick was arrested in a multi-crore ration distribution scam three months ago following an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the ration scam.

The central agency made the arrest late at night after conducting searches at Mallick’s residence in Salt Lake, on the outskirts of Kolkata.

As media persons jostled and gathered around the minister while he was being whisked away by the ED sleuths, with the help of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, the minister said he was the “victim of a grave conspiracy”.

Mallick was the food supplies minister from 2011 to 2021 and was later appointed as the Minister of Forest Affairs and Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy.

According to the ED investigation, Mallick’s wife and daughter held directorial positions in 3 companies allegedly involved in ‘routing’ funds in the scam.

Mallick received substantial loans from three companies, which he failed to repay. Several other individuals were arrested for their involvement in the scam.

Notably, TMC leader SK Shahjahan, who is an accused and absconding in the Sandeshkhali land grabbing and sexual assault case, is a close aide of Mallick.

ED summons: Arvind Kejriwal skips physical appearance in Delhi Court citing confidence motion he had moved in Delhi Assembly

On Saturday (17th February), Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal skipped physically appearing in response to the summons by the Rouse Avenue court. The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) complaint against the Chief Minister for repeatedly skipping summons for questioning in the Delhi excise policy case was set to be addressed in court. Arvind Kejriwal had earlier moved a confidence motion in the Delhi assembly seeking trust vote on the day of the court summons.

The Court summoned Kejriwal following a complaint by the ED, saying that the CM had failed to attend five of their summons for questioning regarding the liquor excise policy case. The matter is now listed for 16th March.

According to reports, Arvind Kejriwal appeared through video conferencing ahead of the assembly session. Kejriwal expressed his “intention” to physically attend the summons today but cited his inability to do so due to the confidence motion and the budget session in the Assembly. Just a day earlier, Kejriwal initiated a motion of confidence in the Assembly, asserting a conspiracy aimed at destabilising his government. The AAP convener is summoned for the sixth time by the central probe agency and he is supposed to appear on Monday 19th February.

This is the sixth time that Arvind Kejriwal has skipped a summons regarding the Delhi Liqour Scam. He skipped five summons by ED and this one by the court. Every time he cited different reasons for missing the summons. Kejriwal has so far skipped five previous summons issued by the ED on 2nd February, 18th January, 3rd January, 2nd November 2023 and 22nd December 2023, calling them “illegal and politically motivated”.

The ED wants to record Kejriwal’s statement in the case on issues like the formulation of policy, meetings held before it was finalised, and allegations of bribery. While skipping the fifth summons issued by the ED on 2nd February, Kejriwal termed it “illegal”, saying he was ready to cooperate but the agency intended to arrest him and stop him from election campaigning.

“All five notices sent to me (by the ED) are illegal and invalid in the eyes of the law. Whenever such general, non-specific notices were sent by the ED in the past, they were quashed and declared invalid by courts. These notices are being sent as part of a political conspiracy,” Kejriwal said after skipping the fifth notice.

A day after Kejriwal skipped the fifth summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate, the agency approached a Delhi Court against him for “non-compliance with the summons”.

Arvind Kejriwal skipped the summons dated 18th January saying that he was scheduled to go to Goa and meet his party workers. ED had issued a summons to Kejriwal on 13th January, asking him to appear before it on 18th January.

Kejriwal had previously refused to appear before the investigation agency on two occasions, on November 2 and December 21, opting instead to campaign for assembly elections and attend a 10-day Vipassana meditation camp on the two respective occasions.

Two senior AAP leaders–Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh–are already under judicial custody in the case. Sisodia, who was the then Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, was arrested by the CBI on 26th February 2023 following several rounds of questioning, and on 5th October 2023, the ED arrested Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha member from AAP.

Naseema Khatoon – a resident of Purnia in Bihar – converted from Islam to Hinduism and married her friend Mahesh Sharma according to Hindu rituals at the Agastya Muni Ashram in Bareilly on 16th February. Naseema Khatoon has now become Meenakshi Sharma after marrying Mahesh. Naseema said that her first husband gave her triple talaq six months ago. Following the divorce, she faced pressure from her husband and in-laws to undergo the practice of halala. She has a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter from her previous marriage.

Naseema Khatoon and Mahesh Sharma connected through the social media platform Instagram. Mahesh resides in the Bareilly area of Uttar Pradesh. Their initial contact led to gradual conversations, developing into friendship, and eventually blossoming into love. Subsequently, they decided to tie the knot.

Naseema Khatoon travelled from Purnia to Bareilly for the marriage. In Bareilly, on 10th January 2024, she submitted an application to the District Magistrate expressing her desire to convert. Naseema, a 20-year-old divorced adult, stated that she is fully capable of discerning what is beneficial or detrimental for herself. Hence, she requested prompt processing of her application.

Naseema wrote in her application, “Due to the terror of the Mughal invaders, my ancestors had converted to Islam. But my faith is in Hindu Sanatan Dharma. I worship Hindu gods and goddesses. There is no respect for women in Islam. Evil practices like triple talaq and halala are prevalent. I want to voluntarily return home and embrace Hindu Vedic Sanatan Dharma.”

Naseema Khatoon legally converted to Hinduism. Then she reached Agastya Muni Ashram in Bareilly. There Naseema Khatun met Pandit KK Shankhdhar. He checked the necessary documents and performed Ghar Wapsi of Naseema Khatoon in Sanatan Dharma by performing Vedic rituals. Naseema got her new name Meenakshi. Then she married her friend Mahesh Sharma.

After marriage, Naseema is now afraid of her family. She has written a letter to the SSP of Bareilly seeking protection. In the letter available with OpIndia, Naseema has written that her family is not happy with her returning to Sanatan and marrying her lover. She wrote, “They are after me and my husband, and in-laws. They want to kill us. They are threatening to kill us.”

Naseema Khatoon said that she was married in Agra and had a daughter from her first marriage. Her husband gave her triple talaq six months ago over some minor domestic issue. After triple talaq, she was being forced to undergo the halala practice. When she opposed undergoing the halala practice, her in-laws and her husband threw her out of the house. After this, she was living with her parents. During this time, she came in contact with Mahesh Sharma on Instagram.

Notably, two days before Naseema Khatoon’s Ghar Wapsi, on 14th February, in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim woman named Shahida did Ghar Wapsi and married her boyfriend Om Prakash. Now, she is known as Sharada. Shahida had already divorced her alcoholic husband. Shahida’s two minor sons will also now live according to the Hindu religion. Hindu organisations have helped Shahida in this Ghar Wapsi.

Amid the ongoing ‘farmer protests’ against the Union government, several videos have surfaced on social media wherein the demonstrations were seen attacking the police.

In one such video, the so-called farmers were seen pelting stones at the cops. This was despite being aware that their act was being caught on camera. One goon, dressed in blue, even took out his sword to intimidate the police.

“You cap-wearing people (referring to cops) can’t stop us. We will chop off your heads…We will crush you with our hands,” a farmer ‘protester’ was heard threatening the police.

In another video, a protesting farmer was seen celebrating after snatching protective equipment from the police personnel, who were maintaining the law and order situation at the Singhu border.

In another video, the so-called farmers were heard abusing DSP-rank police personnel with the choicest of expletives after he requested them to go back and halt their demonstrations.

In visuals that went viral on social media, pictures of cops injured by ‘protesting farmers’ have come to light. Popular X (formerly Twitter) user ‘Mr Sinha’ tweeted, “This is what so called “farmers” did with this innocent police officer… what about his family? What about his human rights? Or is it reserved for traitors only?”

The demonstrators also provoked the law enforcement authorities into taking strict action by flouting rules, breaking through police barricades and even driving their tractors on sidewalks.

In another video, the goons masquerading as farmers were seen attacking a police van with sticks and trying to bodily harm police personnel.

Another group of ‘farmer protestors’ created chaos after they were stopped from marching to the Parliament by the Noida police.

In a video that has surfaced on social media, ‘farmers’ were seen acknowledging that many of the demonstrators were injured while trying to attack surveillance drones of Haryana police. They had therefore devised the use of tennis balls in the hopes of destroying drones.

Some of the ‘protesting farmers’ also tried to destroy police drones with kites but failed miserably.

Haryana police attempt to pacify ‘protesting farmers’

In a tweet on Thursday (17th February), the Haryana police informed, “Violence cannot be allowed under the guise of farmers’ movement, protesters should not disrupt law and order and demonstrate peacefully.”

It further added, “Despite the assurance of peaceful protest at Shambhu border bordering Punjab, continuous efforts are being made by the protesters to provoke the policemen. Appeal of Haryana Police – Cooperate in maintaining law and order.”

25 personnel injured as miscreants pelt stones at Shambhu border

A sinister attempt is being made by anti-national elements to disrupt peace, law and order in the name of farmers’ protests. The Ambala Police has said that under the guise of farmers’ movement, miscreants are creating havoc at the Shambu border.

Haryana’s Ambala Police has informed that 25 personnel deployed at the border had been injured of which 18 are Haryana Police personnel and 7 are paramilitary forces. The police had appealed to the citizens to help them identify the miscreants. Additional SP of Ambala Police, Pooja Dabla addressed the media in this regard.

Sandeshkhali: “Criminals have joined hands with West Bengal govt,” says National Commission for Scheduled Castes, recommends President’s rule in state

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Friday (16h February) after its visit to Sandeshkhali in West Bengal submitted a report recommending the President’s rule in the state citing complete lawlessness.

The report was submitted to President Droupadi Murmu. NCSC Chairperson Arun Halder also met with the President. He said, “We have recommended that President’s rule be imposed in West Bengal over the situation there under Article 338 that aims to safeguard the rights of Scheduled Castes.”

Halder said the President had assured the NCSC team that she would look into the matter and take action. The NCSC team was also allegedly misbehaved with by several police officials when it tried to enter Sandeskhali to meet with victims of sexual assault.

Halder said, “Criminals in the state have joined hands with the government there.”

On 8th February, the women of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal hit the streets demanding the arrest of absconding TMC leader and Mamata Banerjee’s close aides Sheikh Shahjahan and two other TMC workers Shiba Prasad Hazra and Uttam Sardar, believed to be close to Shahjahan.

The women alleged that the accused forcefully grabbed lands of the poor in the region and sexually assaulted women “night after night and release them only when they are satisfied”. The accused also forced the villagers to provide free labour in the business run by them.

“We have recommended that President’s rule should be imposed in West Bengal over the situation there under Article 338 that aims to safeguard rights of SCs,” the NCSC cheif said.

Under Article 338 of the Constitution, the NCSC is dutibound to present to the President reports on the working of the constitutional safeguards of the Scheduled Castes (SCs) annually and at other times.

Halder added that the violence in Sandeshkhali is impacting the people from the Scheduled Caste communities noting that West Bengal has the second highest population of SCs in the country.

Moreover, the Commission has also sent a notice to the TMC government in Bengal ordering them to take immediate action against the absconding accused.

“The state is suppose to protect them (SCs) but that is not happening and they are in fact suffering under the state government rule,” he said.

A BJP central team also visited Sandeshkhali on Friday and a Congress delegation is due to visit today (Saturday).

The 6-member BJP delegation constituted by the party national president, JP Nadda, to visit Sandeshkhali was stopped by the police in West Bengal on Friday.

The team included party leaders Annapurna Devi, Pratima Bhowmik, Sunita Duggal, Kavita Patidar, Sangeeta Yadav and Brij Lal. BJP leader Agnimitra Paul is accompanying the delegation to Sandeshkhali.

Meanwhile, the Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha had summoned top police officers of West Bengal on the complaint filed by BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar.

The Privileges Committee on Thursday directed the top police officials of West Bengal to appear before them over a complaint from the BJP state chief on February 19.

On Friday (16th February), violence erupted in the Nagri area in Ranchi of Jharkhand as stones were pelted during a Hindu procession when it reached near a religious place. The situation quickly escalated as the two communities engaged in clashes using stones and sticks to attack each other. Meanwhile, the police have denied unverified claims that shots were also fired, and imposed section 144 of the CrPC. More than half a dozen people from both sides were injured in the violence.

A Hindu procession was taken out on Friday evening for Goddess Saraswati idol immersion in the Nagri area. At around 8 PM, the procession reached near a religious place on its route. People standing there asked the Hindus to immediately move on from there. This led to a heated argument. Stone pelting and clashes started following this argument.

Stones littered the road, sparking chaos throughout the area. Upon receiving word of the incident, police officials arrived at the scene, and tried to mediate between the two groups. However, they were initially unsuccessful. Thirty minutes later, reinforcements arrived, enabling the police authorities to regain control of the situation and disperse the crowd.

Following the incident, the Ranchi district administration has enforced prohibitory orders in the Nagri zone area until further notice. Acting on directives from the Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer of Ranchi, Section 144 was imposed in the zone area from 10 pm on Friday and it will remain imposed until further notice.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha, SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, Rural SP Manish Toppo, and City SP Rajkumar Mehta, along with the police force, promptly arrived at the scene.

Ranchi police said, “Section 144 has been imposed as a precautionary measure in the Nagri area after a clash broke out between two groups during the procession of Saraswati idol immersion. As of now, the situation is completely peaceful.”

A similar incident also took place in Chongakhar village of Udaipura panchayat of Madhupur in Jharkhand where stones were pelted on an idol immersion procession after a clash erupted between two groups on Friday evening. Two dozen people were injured in this incident. As soon as the information was received, the police force of several police stations reached the spot and the situation was calmed down. The police administration provided security and conducted immersion rituals.

According to police, the devotees were going to Gondlitand Pond to immerse the idol taken on a cart from Chongakhar. During this time, some people standing near a religious place opposed to playing music. There was a dispute about this. Security forces are deployed in the village.

Former US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) blasted a ruling by a judge in New York, ordering him and his companies to pay nearly USD 355 in the civil fraud case. He called the decision a “complete and total sham.”

In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform after the court’s decision, Trump said the justice system in New York State and US as a whole is under assault by “partisan, deluded, biased Judges and Prosecutors.”

Tish James has been obsessed with “Getting Trump” for years, and used Crooked New York State Judge Engoron to get an illegal, unAmerican judgment against me, my family, and my tremendous business. I helped New York City during its worst of times, and now, while it is overrun with Violent Biden Migrant Crime, the Radicals are doing all they can to kick me out,” Trump posted on Truth Social platform.

Calling the decision a “complete and total sham,” Trump said there were no victims and there were no damages caused. His remarks came after a New York judge on Friday ordered former US President Donald Trump and the Trump Organization to pay a fine of nearly USD 355 million in a civil fraud case.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Page 2: This “decision” is a Complete and Total SHAM. There were No Victims, No Damages, No Complaints. Only satisfied Banks and Insurance Companies (which made a ton of money), GREAT Financial Statements, that didn’t even include the most valuable Asset – The TRUMP Brand, IRONCLAD Disclaimers (Buyer Beware, and Do your Own Due Diligence), and amazing Properties all over the World. All the other side had was a ridiculous USD 18 million valuation of magnificent Mar-a-Lago, an unconstitutional Gag Order, a Consumer Fraud Statute never before used for this purpose, No Jury allowed, and a refusal to send this disgusting charade to the Commercial Division, where it would have been put to a deserving end.”

He also accused Judge Arthur Engoron of targeting him in the case. He called the decision in the New York case a “witch hunt” and said that he was fined USD 355 million based on nothing other than having built a “great company.”

ELECTION INTERFERENCE. WITCH HUNT (more to follow!).”

Trump also delivered remarks from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Friday. He stressed that the case was part of a broader effort aimed to damage him politically as he seeks another term in the White House, The Hill reported.

“If I weren’t running none of this stuff would have ever happened. None of these lawsuits would have ever happened. I would have had a nice life,” Trump said.

The former US President’s attacks extended beyond Engoron and James at times, which led to Engoron issuing a gag order that prevented Trump and his attorneys from making remarks about court staff, according to The Hill report.

According to the 90-page judgement, Trump has been barred from acting as a company director in New York state for three years. His sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, have also asked to pay a fine of USD 4 million each.

They have been barred from serving as directors for two years. Donald Trump and his two adult sons had already been found liable for massively increasing the value of their properties by hundreds of millions of dollars in a trial that ended in January. However, Trump and his sons have denied any wrongdoing.

Former Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg was ordered to pay USD 1 million. Weisselberg was also blocked from New York business for three years, according to the order. Furthermore, Weisselberg and former controller Jeffrey McConney were banned for life from serving “in the financial control function” of any New York corporation or business entity.

In a statement to The Hill, Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba termed the ruling a “manifest injustice” and the culmination of a “multi-year, politically fueled witch hunt that was designed to ‘take down Donald Trump.'”

The trial of the case lasted for more than two months, with testimony — sometimes tempestuous from 40 witnesses, including the former US President himself, top Trump Organization executives and Trump’s adult children.
