Annamalai’s ‘En Mann, En Makkal’ padyatra garners massive support across Tamil Nadu as BJP looks to expand its base ahead of 2024: Details

Tamil Nadu BJP’s “En Mann En Makkal” (my land, my people) padyatra helmed by state president K Annamalai has entered day 20 today amid much pomp and show. The six-month-long yatra was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 28th July from Ramanathapuram with an aim to strengthen BJP’s foothold in the state ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

PM Modi’s statue is also part of the padyatra with his speeches playing in the background. Huge crowds can be seen joining the yatra from wherever it passes and excitement is visible amongst the people underlining that BJP’s Annamalai has become a household name in the DMK-ruled state. The party under Annamalai has been working to fill the cultural gap between itself and the people of the state and also cornering the DMK government over charges of corruption.

Implying the success of the padyatra, a first-level constable named Karthik has said that he will resign from his job after he got inspired by the political journey of the BJP leader. Interestingly, Annamalai himself was a Karnataka cadre IPS officer who resigned from service in 2019 and joined the BJP in 2020.

The TN BJP President has been extensively conveying the benefits of the several schemes of the Central government. He has also taken on the Stalin government for its anti-NEET bill. Accusing Stalin of fostering enmity between the State and the Centre on the NEET issue, Annamalai said that the CM should release a White Paper on the performance of NEET students of Tamil Nadu in the past five years. He said this would “expose the lies of the DMK government.”

He has also been talking about the issue of dynasty politics. On 16th August, Annamalai hit out at the Kerala and Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers over nepotism. He has been taking on the local DMK leaders of the constituencies he is visiting in order to alter the mood of the people in favour of the BJP. The padyatra is scheduled to pass through Kanyakumari, and Nagercoil today.

The padyatra has also taken internet by the storm. The sea of supporters of Annamalai is sure to expand BJP’s base in the state which has for decades been dominated by Dravidian politics. Annamalai’s growing popularity is sure to make a dent in the traditional politics in the state.

The Stalin government has taken to its traditional language war issue in order to counter the Saffron party. Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on 17th August reportedly said that any attempt to impose Hindi will be opposed. In a recent controversy, a short video of a teenage boy identified as Fayazdeen talking about how he paid Rs 25 lakhs to get into the medical school run by DMK MP Jagathrakshakan got viral on social media.

In the video, the boy stated that financially strapped students would not be able to cover the complete course costs at the medical college owned by the DMK leader, which would total up to Rs 1.5 crores. Sree Balaji Medical College & Hospital was accused of fraud cases earlier in 2011 for allegedly collecting thousands of rupees in capitation fees while refusing applicants’ seats. The college apparently received almost 18 lakhs in capitation fees in 2010 but did not provide students with spots.

In the past two months, the BJP state President has released the “DMK Files” in a bid to shed light on the alleged corruption under the Stalin government. On 26th July, just two days ahead of the yatra being launched, Annamalai submitted a “trunk” of “DMK Files-2” that contained documents on the corruption charges against nine DMK ministers.

Unacademy sacks Karan Sangwan after he praises British-made laws, uses it to make a politically motivated speech to students: Details

Days after an educator named Karan Sangwan at the e-learning platform Unacademy courted controversy by asking students to vote for ‘educated politicians’, Roman Saini, the co-founder of the ed-tech platform sacked the teacher on August 17.

Releasing his official statement on the matter, Saini on Twitter (X) said that the platform had to sever its relationship with Karan Sangwan since he had broken the terms of the agreement. Saini emphasized the fact that Unacademy is an educational platform committed to providing outstanding education. “To ensure that our students have access to fair knowledge, we have put in place a stringent Code of Conduct for all of our educators. Everything we do is focused on our learners”, he said.

Saini went on to say that the classroom is not the place to express personal opinions since it can inadvertently sway students. “In the current situation, we were forced to part ways with Karan Sangwan as he was in breach of the Code of Conduct,” Unacademy’s co-founder added.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal raised the issue and pondered whether urging people to support educated candidates was a crime. “Is it a crime to appeal to vote for educated people? If someone is illiterate, personally I respect them. But public representatives cannot be illiterate. This is the era of science and technology. Illiterate public representatives can never build the modern India of the 21st century,” he tweeted.

What did Karan Sangwan say?

Sangwan on August 13, courted controversy by asking students to vote for ‘educated politicians’. He also lauded the British colonizers for doing an excellent job by crafting the perfect statute and criticized the recently announced three new laws replacing IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act.

The incident happened when he was discussing the latest bills tabled in Lok Sabha by the Narendra Modi government, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and The Bharatiya Sakshya, which replace the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Indian Evidence Act respectively.

“It is a complete lie that the law formulated by the British has been repealed. The government claimed that they have changed the law. It is not possible. You cannot do it. The law is beautifully drafted by the British,” he could be heard saying in a video uploaded on his Youtube channel called, Legal Pathshala.

On the other hand, he lamented that all the notes he had prepared on the existing criminal laws have become useless now. A segment of his rant is not available on the channel where he further complained, “Even I don’t know whether to laugh or cry because I also have a lot of bare acts, caseloads, and notes that I had prepared. It is hard work for everyone. You also got a job at your hand.”

“But keep in mind one thing. Next time vote for someone who is well-educated so you don’t have to go through this ordeal again, okay,” he asked and added “Elect someone who is educated and understands things. Don’t elect someone who only knows how to change names. Make your decision properly.” The video of his rants was posted on Twitter after which it went viral.

As reported earlier, Sangwan joined Unacademy in 2020 and has completed a master’s in Criminal Law and another Provincial Civil Service (Judiciary), according to the official Unacademy site. He has more than 7 years of experience and studied at Himachal Pradesh National Law University in Shimla. He is an expert in bare acts.

Direct Action Day: The declared and undeclared agenda of the Hindu massacre and how Islamists are implementing it even today – From Sharjeel Imam to PFI

In the last article of the series about the Direct Action Day, we discussed the political developments which formed a background for the Direct Action Day observed by the Muslim League government on 16th August 1946 in the Bengal province of United India under British rule. We discussed how Muslim League won a decisive majority in most of the Muslim constituencies it contested in the provincial elections, how it presented its victory in those states as a referendum in favour of the formation of Pakistan, and what led it to pass the resolution of the Direct Action Day which was essentially a call for anti-Hindu pogrom. In this article, we will see what happened after the resolution of the Direct Action Day was passed by the Muslim League.

Decoding the resolution of the Direct Action Day

The Muslim leaders in Bengal were preparing for their Jihad well before this resolution was passed. Some of the statements given by Muslim League leaders are a testimony to that. Abul Hashim – a Bengali leader of the Muslim League – said, “Where justice and equity failed, shining steel would decide the issue.” Nazimuddin – a leader of the Muslim League and the former Prime Minister of Bengal province said, “There are 150 different ways to cause trouble particularly as the Muslim League is not restricted to non-violence. The Muslim population of Bengal know very well what Direct Action would mean and so we need not bother to give them any lead.”

Suranjan Das, in his book ‘Communal Riots in Bengal’ (published in 1993 by the Oxford University Press) says, “In accordance to such schematic approach, it was seen before one week of 16th August 1946, that League had already instructed the inmates of all Muslim hostels, how they would act on 16th August 1946. How they would have knives, kerosene oil, methylated spirit etc. And how they would set tram cars and military vehicles ablaze having taken a strategic position on 16th August 1946.”

Suranjan Das also mentions, the Prime Minister of Bengal, H.S.Suhrawardy interacted with a few journalists in Delhi well before the week of 29th July, 1946. In this meeting, he said that he considered it would be difficult to control the disturbances at Calcutta if something like a Direct Action Day is observed.

Prior to 16th August 1946, a meticulously organised assembly took place in Calcutta on 4th August 1946. During this meeting, local Muslim leaders, Muslim trade union representatives, activists, and various other participants convened to strategise the execution of the impending Direct Action Day and determine its precise course of action.

On 5th August 1946, Bengal’s prime minister Husyen Shaheed Suhrawardy wrote an article in ‘The Statesman’ in which he said, “Bloodshed and disorder are not a necessary evil in themselves if resorted to for a noble cause. Among Muslims today, no cause is dearer or nobler than Pakistan.” Essentially, he was giving clean chit to rioters eleven days before the Direct Action Day. And the word Direct Action practically meant – ‘to kill Hindus’.

Mohammed Ali Jinnah had a non-violent pistol

On the occasion of passing the resolution of Direct Action Day, Mohammed Ali Jinnah said, “What we have done today (the day when the League Council passed the Direct Action resolution) is the heroic act in our history. Never have we…done anything except…by constitutionalism. But now…we bid goodbye to constitutional methods.”

Jinnah added, “Now the time has come for the Muslim Nation to resort to direct action. I am not prepared to discuss ethics. We have a pistol and are in a position to use it.” This was a call for the genocide of innocent Hindus for no fault of theirs. By making this statement, Jinnah appealed to Muslims that Hindus should be massacred. This stems from his two-nation theory which states that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations that cannot co-exist on this land.

Turning Dar-Ul-Harb into Dar-Ul-Islam is a key concept embedded in Islamic theology. This essentially means that it is the duty of every Muslim to ensure that a nation ruled by “Kafirs” is turned into an Islamic nation. Unfortunately, such divisive concepts are still believed, accepted, agreed upon, and practised in many cases even today under the garb of the freedom to practice, preach, and propagate one’s religion in a democratic state. It is better to leave it to the reader’s choice to check the similarities between the two and draw conclusions.

Jinnah was essentially an Islamist and those who praise Jinnah for his contribution to the freedom struggle, those who advocate keeping his portrait in the Aligarh Muslim University, and those who call his acts a historic work need a serious course correction irrespective of the ideology they follow. It is also pertinent to note here that the two-nation theory was propagated by the founder of AMU, years before Jinnah. Syed Ahmad Khan said in 1876, “I am convinced now that Hindus and Muslims could never become one nation as their religion and way of life was quite distinct from each other.” Khan made several statements in the following years proposing the two-nation theory and gaining support from Muslims. He said that after the British leaves with their army and weapons, it will be impossible for Hindus and Muslims to live together and share power. He had said that they will need to conquer the other, and there will be no peace until that happens.

Dinesh Chandra Sinha and Ashok Dasgupta mention in their book ‘1946: The Great Calcutta Killings and Noakhali Genocide’, “Jinnah said he did not restrict Direct Action to non-violence, we have also forged a pistol that is non-violent. We mean every word of it. We do not believe in equivocation.

The declared program of the Direct Action Day

On 13th August 1946, the newspaper Star of India published the program of the Direct Action Day. This program was directed by the secretary of the Calcutta District Muslim League. Calcutta, Howrah, Hooghly, Metiaburz, and 24 Parganas were the areas covered by this program and the Muslims of these areas were asked to abide by it. This program is also given in detail by Dinesh Chandra Sinha and Ashok Dasgupta in their book ‘1946: The Great Calcutta Killings and Noakhali Genocide’. On a superficial level, it appears like a bandh or hartal or protest in a democratic peaceful manner where people gather together, raise some slogans, ask others to observe the bandh, and in some cases resort to verbal exchange if they get offended by things. All in all, it appears like a congregation of people for certain demands which may disperse away after some time.

But when Muslim mobs come to the streets, the protests take an unprecedented violent turn and India has witnessed it in the last few years. The anti-Hindu pogrom after the Shaheen Bagh protests by Islamists against the CAA is one such example. Its background was also created in the same way as that of Direct Action Day. Islamists were taking dedicated efforts to escalate the religious sentiments of Muslims in India for two months before the Delhi anti-Hindu riots of 25th February 2020. Let us now read the program published in the newspaper.

The declared program included a general strike and a rally

Complete hartal and a general strike in all spheres of civic, commercial and industrial life save and except the essential services of water works, hospitals, physicians’ clinics, maternity centres, light, electricity, gas and postal services.

Processions, “Kafelas” and “Akharas” with music bands and Tabaljungs will start from all Mahallas in Calcutta, Howrah, and Hooghly. Metiabruz and 24-Parganas and coverage at the foot of the Ochterlony Monument (present ‘Shaheed Minar) between 3 and 6-30 P. M.

A joint mass rally and meeting of Calcutta, Howrah, Hooghly, Mctiabruz and 24-Parganas will be held at the foot of the Ochterlony (present ‘Shaheed Minar’) Monument from 3 PM on Friday the 16th of August. Mr H. S. Suhrawardy – the leader of the Bengal Muslim League Parliamentary Party and Prime Minister of Bengal – has consented to preside.

Representatives of Minority suppressed and oppressed people and anti-Fascist parties who have been unjustly by-passed by the British Government and who are ready to make common cause with the League in its fight for the equal freedom of Muslims, the Hindus, the Scheduled castes, the Adivasis, the Tribals, the Christians and other peoples are welcome in the meeting.

Interestingly, the 2047 vision document of the banned Islamic terrorist organisation Popular Front of India also included sections that talked about taking Dalits, OBCs, tribals, etc. together to establish an Islamic rule in India by 2047.

Nothing starts without a Friday Namaz and the Taqrirs after prayers

Every Ward and Branch League must prepare a complete list of mosques in its area, and depute three workers in every mosque on Friday the 16th of August to explain the new policy and action plan of the League before JUMA prayers and to report to the District League about this arrangement. A manifesto on the Subject has been specially published and is available from 8, Zakaria Street, Calcutta.

Special Manajat (Prayer) should be offered in every mosque on Friday after Juma prayers for the freedom of Muslim India, the Islamic world and the peoples of India and the East in general. The “Munajat” has been printed and published and is available from 8, Zakaria Street, Calcutta.

I appeal to the Musalmans of Calcutta, Howrah, Hooghly, Matiabruz and 24-Parganas to rise to the occasion and make the rally a unique success. We are in the midst of the rainy season and the month of Ramzan fasting. But this is a month of real Jehad of God’s grace and blessings, spiritual armament and the moral and physical purge of the Nation. It is a supreme occasion of our trial. Let Muslims brave the rains and all difficulties and make the Direct Action Day meeting a historic mass mobilization of the Millat.

Readers should note that 16th August 1946 was a Friday. In 2022, Islamists in India held massive protests across the country against the allegedly insulting remarks by Nupur Sharma against the Prophet Muhammad in a TV debate. All of those protests were held on Fridays in the month of June 2022. One Friday after the other, Muslims would offer collective prayers in the mosques and come out on the streets and pelt stones and set things ablaze and spread violence vandalising public properties. This Friday’s connection with riots is not a new trait.

The theological basis of the Direct Action Day

Muslims must remember that it was in Ramzan that the Quran was revealed. It was in Ramzan that the Battle of Badr, the first open conflict between Islam and Heathenism was fought and won by 313 Muslims and again it was in Ramzan that 10,000 Muslims under the Holy Prophet conquered Mecca and established the Kingdom of Heaven and the Commonwealth of Islam in Arabia. The Muslim League is fortunate that it is starting its action in this holy month.

It is notable that the Battle of Badr is the first battle fought by the companions and the followers of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad after he received a divine revelation that authorised the Muslims to launch attacks on the polytheists (read non-Muslims) without being attacked first. That battle took place on the seventeenth and eighteenth day of the month of Ramzan according to the Islamic calendar in the year 624 AD. This theological basis mentioned in the program published in the newspaper was a signal for Muslims to unleash violence; because the 16th of August 1946 was also the same 17th/18th day of the Ramzan month in that year. However, despite this plan getting published in a newspaper, Hindus, and Congressmen did not know what Muslims were planning to do.

This is because the common Hindus and many of the Hindu leaders – in 1946 and also in 2023 – do not know the theological details of Islam and the various concepts encompassed in its scriptures. Therefore, even today they fail to understand that what they think of to be an act of violence can be a religious duty for someone else; what they think of as a call for violence, excluding others, or alienation of those who don’t believe a certain set of things can be holy gospel for someone else tracing its roots to the definitions of that person’s religious faith.

The undeclared agenda of the Direct Action Day

As clear from the above discussions, the declared program of the direct action day did not contain direct orders to kill Hindus. However, the mention of the Battle of Badr was a signal which would be completely understood only by Muslims. The undeclared agenda of this Direct Action Day was secretly circulated throughout the Muslim community and it was a systematic and guided program of annihilation of Hindus.

Muslims who were by then become very eager to observe the Direct Action Day were told to follow certain steps. It was not an official declaration but the leaflets and posters inciting the religious sentiments discussed in the next article in this series are proof of the prevalence of such messages being spread in the community through various religious preachers and community leaders among the Muslims in India.

Direct Action Day was a systematic Hindu pogrom

This undeclared agenda of the Direct Action Day is included in G.D. Khosla’s ‘Stern Reckoning’ published by the Oxford University Press, New Delhi. It is as follows –

  1. All Muslims of India should die for Pakistan. With Pakistan established whole of India should be conquered. All people of India should be converted to Islam. All Muslim kingdoms should join hands with the Anglo-American exploitation of the whole world. One Muslim should get the right of five Hindus, i.e. each Muslim is equal to five Hindus. Until Pakistan and Indian Empire is established, the following steps should be taken –

All factories and shops owned by Hindus should be burnt, destroyed, and looted and loot should be given to League Office. All Muslim Leaguers should carry weapons in defiance of the order. All nationalist Muslims if they do not join League must be killed by a secret Gestapo. Hindus should be murdered gradually and their population should be reduced. All temples should be destroyed. Muslim League spies in every village and district of India. Congress Leaders should be murdered, one in one month by a secret method. Congress’s upper offices should be destroyed by a secret Muslim Gestapo, a single person doing the job. Karachi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Goa, and Vizagapatam should be paralysed by December 1946 by Muslim League volunteers. Muslims should never be allowed to work under Hindus in Army. Navy, Government services or private firms.

Readers should notice that in contemporary India, RSS workers and BJP workers are the victims of target killings by Islamists. This phenomenon is pan-India but more frequently seen in states like West Bengal, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Muslims should sabotage the whole of India and the Congress Government for the final invasion of India by Muslims. Financial resources are given by Muslim League. Invasion of India by Nizam, communists, few Europeans, Khoja by Bhopal, few Anglo-Indians, few Parsis, few Christians, Punjab, Sind and Bengal will be places of manufacture of all arms, weapons for Muslim Leaguers invasion and establishing of Muslim Empire of India. All arms and weapons should be distributed to Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi, Madras, Bangalore, Lahore, Karachi, and branches of the Muslim League. All sections of the Muslim League should carry minimum equipment of weapons, at least a pocket knife at all times to destroy Hindus and drive all Hindus out of India.

Readers should notice that PFI’s weapon training camps in Nizamabad in Telangana which was earlier part of the Nizam state were busted by the NIA in 2022. Even common Muslims involved in various organised or unorganised crimes are found carrying either a weapon or making a weapon out of anything they are carrying. For example, the Islamist Jihadi in Mangaluru bomb blast was carrying a pressure cooker that contained an improvised explosive device.

All transport should be used for the battle against Hindus. Hindu women and girls should be raped, kidnapped and converted into Muslims from October 18, 1946. Hindu culture should be destroyed. All Leaguers should try to be cruel at all times to Hindus and boycott them socially, economically and in many other ways. No Muslim should buy from Hindu dealers. All Hindu-produced films should be boycotted. All Muslim Leaguers should obey these instructions and bring them into action by September 15, 1946.

Readers should notice that religiously profiled sexual grooming of non-Muslim girls by Muslim youths, adults, and old men is not a new thing. In fact, love jihad has become a frequently committed crime in contemporary India so much so that multiple states have made acts against it. Temple vandalism is not limited to Bangladesh and Pakistan either. Attacks on the Hindu processions on various occasions like Ram Navami, Kanwar Yatra, Navaratri and Hanuman Jayanti are repeatedly seen. There are striking parallels in the conduct of Muslim mobs then and the Muslim mobs now. At that time, the conduct of the Islamic mobs led to Bharat being torn into two and perhaps, India still has time to recognise that it never recovered fully from the threat of Islamism.

If Direct Action was started in the Battle of Badr, then it is still practised.

Thoughts similar to the declared and undeclared agenda of the Direct Action Day are expressed by certain Muslim leaders and organisations in contemporary India. Sharjeel Imam, Umar Khalid and Popular Front of India are prime examples. This undeclared plan of the Direct Action Day is similar instigation of violence as seen in Sharjeel Imam’s speech before the anti-Hindu riots that took place in Delhi in 2020. The aim of capturing political power in India as expressed in this undeclared plan is similar to the intent of the 2047 vision document of the banned Islamic terrorist organisation Popular Front of India. There is no difference between Muslim League and any other contemporary terrorist outfit like PFI. There is no difference between Muslim leaders like Jinnah, Surhawardy etc of 1946 and Sharjeel Imam, Umar Khalid, etc. of the contemporary times.

This explains how Muslim leaders decoded the resolution of the Direct Action Day before the common Muslims inciting them to violence against innocent Hindus. In fact, the declared and undeclared agendas of the Direct Action Day confirm that Muslim leaders were asking their followers to do what they actually meant. All this was done by providing a firm theological basis from the Islamic religious scriptures including Quran, Hadiths, and hence Sharia as well because the Bengal province was under an Islamic rule however democratically elected.

In the next article about Direct Action Day, we will take an account of the various editorials, leaflets, and posters published before Direct Action Day. We will discuss how the contents of these leaflets and posters which were then secretly and widely shared among Muslims are now shared and spread in the open in the current times, and how it is being normalised as a freedom of speech and expression rather than rightfully banning such expressions which have once led the country to partition, horrors of which are yet remembered. We will also see what were the reactions of the Congress to this Hindu massacre, and what MK Gandhi – who did not like violence at all – said about this bloodshed.

Pakistan: Yasin Malik’s wife Mushaal Hussein Mullick appointed as a special assistant of caretaker PM

Mushaal Hussain Malik, the wife of Kashmiri separatist and terrorist Yasin Malik, has been included in Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar‘s caretaker government, which took the oath of office on 17 August. This is a rare development because a Kashmiri separatist leader rarely serves in Pakistan‘s federal ministry. However, she has been appointed as the prime minister’s special assistant for human rights rather than a full minister.

On 17th August, the 19-member cabinet of the caretaker took oath in Islamabad, where 16 federal ministers and 3 advisers to the PM took oath. On the other hand, Mushaal Hussein Mullick has been appointed as a special assistant of the Prime Minster on human rights. Khalil George has been made the cabinet minister in that portfolio.

In the interim cabinet, former central bank chief Shamshad Akhtar was appointed as finance minister and Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States, Jalil Abbas Jilani, was named foreign minister. Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Thursday administered oath to members of newly appointed caretaker PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s cabinet.

Earlier there were reports speculating that Yasin Malik’s wife will be included in the cabinet as an adviser, but later it was reported that she has been made a special assistant of the PM. Dawn has published the full list of 16 ministers and 3 advisers appointed today, and her name does not feature in this list.

While advisors and special assistants are permitted to hold dual citizenship, full ministers are required to be Pakistani citizens. Mushaal Hussein Mullick is from Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, called Azad Kashmir by Pakistan, and has long advocated against Indian Kashmir.

She married Yasin Malik in Rawalpindi on 22 February 2009. The two reportedly got acquainted in 2005 while he was touring Pakistan. She lives with her 12-year-old daughter Razia Sultana in Islamabad. She is a London School of Economics alumnus.

Yasin Malik is the Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, which originally spearheaded armed militancy in the Kashmir Valley. He pleaded guilty to charges of criminal conspiracy and waging war against the state in May 2022 and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was arrested in early 2019 in connection with a 2017 terror-funding case registered by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Yasin Malik is also charged with the murders of four Air Force officers in January 1990. Squadron leader Ravi Khanna was one of the four members of the Indian Air Force assassinated by him and other JKLF terrorists when they were waiting to board buses at Sant Nagar Crossing.

A female officer was among the 40 personnel that were wounded in the occurrence that happened on 25 January during the shootout that he himself commanded. He has also been one of the primary figures who led the Kashmiri Hindu genocide in the 1990s. He is presently lodged in Tihar Jail.

Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister has selected a new cabinet ahead of the national elections due in early November. Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, a relatively lesser-known political figure believed to have military ties, assumed office as Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister on 14 August. He was picked at a time when the country is facing both political and economic difficulties, and he will serve as president until a new administration is formed.

Hawaii wildfire: Death toll in Maui reaches 111 with over 1000 still unaccounted for

0

Maui’s death toll has reached 111 as responders continue to look for traces of more than 1,000 people still unaccounted for since last week’s wildfire, officials in Hawaii said, CNN reported.

Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said on Wednesday: “No one has ever seen this who is alive today – not this size, not this number, not this volume. And we’re not done.”

“Realize that the responders that are going out there are recovering their loved ones and members of their families,” he said, as per CNN.

Pelletier said that about 38 per cent of the burn zone had been searched as of Wednesday afternoon, as authorities hope to cover much of it by the weekend.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green said combing the ashes of what used to be homes, businesses and historic landmarks is difficult, and identifying those killed won’t be easy, as remains are largely unrecognizable and fingerprints rarely found.

Complicating matters is uncertainty over how many remain missing after the fires sparked quickly and spread erratically, engulfing thousands of homes on the island. “Probably still over 1,000” people are unaccounted for, Green told CNN on Wednesday. The precise sum is hard to nail down due to telecommunications gaps, authorities have said.

A genetics team will help identify remains, “so that we can make sure that we’re finding who our loved ones are, and that we make the notifications with dignity and honour,” Pelletier said, urging patience. Authorities have asked relatives of the missing to provide DNA samples, with 41 provided through Tuesday, county officials said, as per CNN.

Times Now Navbharat exposé “Operation PAAP” comes to haunt Kejriwal govt as purported audio between AAP MLA and gangster Kapil Sangwan goes viral

0

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has landed in fresh trouble yet again. In an exclusive report, Times Now Navbharat has released an audio clip claiming that it contains a conversation allegedly between AAP Uttam Nagar MLA Naresh Balyan and gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu. In the report titled “Operation PAAP”, it is claimed that Balyan and Sangwan are allegedly talking about the extortion of two businessmen in the audio.

It has been alleged that the AAP MLA used to provide the gangster with the number of the businessmen in order to extort money from them which was then divided between Balyan and Sangwan. The extortion money was allegedly divided into 70-30 shares. Times Now Navbharat has claimed to have accessed the audio clip which includes a conversation between the Uttam Nagar MLA and the gangster.

One of the two persons (Person A) can be heard saying, “Hello Hello…yes brother first turn off the loudspeaker, can’t hear clearly.” Another person (Person B) responds, “Loudspeaker is off.” And then both individuals purportedly talk about extortion.

Person B: kis par (inaudible) karna hai yeh bata (who is the target?)

Person A: Meri nazar mein ek toh kya Guru Charan Builder aur ek Puran Store hai aap karwa do toh main kar dun phone (See I have in my mind one Guru Charan builder and one Puran Store. You get it done then I will make the call)

In another audio reportedly accessed by Times Now Navbharat, gangster Kapil Sangwan has accepted that he extorted money with the help of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan. Sangwan alias Nandu can be heard in the purported audio clip saying that Naresh Balyan used to give him numbers for extortion and then the amount would get divided between the two. “MLA Naresh Balyan had given me the numbers of Guru Charan and Puran Store. He had said that first Guru Charan builder’s matter will get resolved and then will call Puran Store. He (Balyan) had provided the photo and office address as to what time he (victim) arrives and leaves,” Sangwan allegedly said in the audio released by Times Now Navbharat.

Kapil Sangwan is a gangster who is accused of murdering BJP leader Surendra Matiyala and is also reportedly close to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He is a declared fugitive and operates his gang in India from UK. A red corner notice has also been issued against Sangwan by Interpol.

Taking to Twitter, the AAP MLA Naresh Balyan has said that he will pursue legal action against channels running such reports. “Some comedy channels are running anything for entertainment, Such channels should be ready for legal action,” Balyan tweeted.

Interestingly, a month ago, a report claimed that Balyan was being threatened by Sangwan from London with the latter asking Balyan to work for him. Balyan was reportedly contacted by Sangwan over WhatsApp call from international numbers. Sangwan reportedly told Balyan that the builders, and property dealers he extorts money from, he should take money from them and hand it over to his associates.

Meanwhile the BJP took to the streets today in protest against the Kejriwal government over the charges levelled against his MLA. The protests were led by Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva.

The fresh controversy comes just months after in May Times Now Navbharat in its expose titled Operation Sheesh Mahal detailed the splurge worth crores by Kejriwal on the renovation of his bungalow.

Madhya Pradesh: Islamists claim Bajrang Dal, VHP ‘provoked’ Muslims during Tiranga Yatra in Guna & ransacked shops, here’s what actually happened

Citing the occasion of Independence Day, several leftist Islamists had claimed that a Tiranaga Yatra in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna carried out by some Muslims was ‘interrupted’ by the members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) who later ‘provoked’ the Muslims and forced the nearby market area to shut the shops.

‘Journalist’ Meer Faisal posted the videos of the incident claiming that when Muslims were holding a Tiranga Yatra, the VHP and Bajrang Dal members brought their own Tiranga Yatra in front of them and raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ which provoked the Muslims. “The Muslims were provoked, and later When there was a scuffle between the two groups, the workers of the VHP and Bajrang Dal started forcibly closing the market. The shop whose shop was not closed was ransacked and closed by the Bajrang dal and VHP”, he alleged in the tweet.

He further added that the Muslim individuals reached the police station and lodged a complaint. According to Faisal, the police also began reviewing the matter based on the viral videos.

The said tweet was amplified by several Islamists who demanded serious action against the alleged members of VHP and Bajrang Dal who according to them engaged in a scuffle with the participants of the Tiranga Yatra organized by the Muslims in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna.

However, it was discovered that there was no scuffle between the two communities and that no members of VHP and Bajrang Dal were present on the spot when the incident happened. The incident is said to have happened on August 15 but the videos of the incident were posted by the Islamists on August 16.

No scuffle, no VHP or Bajrang Dal members involved; Here’s what actually happened

As per the reports, two Tiranga Yatras were scheduled to be conducted in Guna on the eve of Independence Day, one by Muslims and the other one by the other local Hindus. While the routes of both the scheduled Yatras were different, confusion erupted when some Hindus accidentally joined the Tiranga Yatra organized by Muslims. They thought they had joined the Yatra organized by local Hindus. On realizing this, the Hindus decided to move out of the place but their bikes broke down.

Meanwhile, some of the Muslims approaching on bikes towards the same spot also faced the issue of bikes breaking down. There was no scuffle but the market was made to assume that the two communities had engaged in a fight. Later, some more local Hindus who were conducting another Tiranga Rally in different areas came to know about the incident and reached the spot.

As per the Dainik Bhasker report, several active Muslims and Hindus asked the shopkeepers in the market to shut the shops. The police also immediately reached the spot after being informed about the matter.

Police pacified the matter, no FIR lodged

CSP Shweta Gupta, and PI Anup Bhargav pacified the matter in the market and allowed the members, Muslims and Hindus, to conclude their respective Tiranga rallies. Members from both communities then reached the police station and accused each other of starting the scuffle. Members of both communities were then heard and suggested to maintain peace, to which they agreed. Hence, no FIR in the case has been lodged.

‘No rally was organized by VHP or Bajrang Dal’, confirms VHP

OpIndia meanwhile talked to Rakesh Pandey who is the National Social Media Head of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. He confirmed that no member of VHP or Bajrang Dal was involved in the incident as is being claimed by Islamist journalist Meer Faisal.

“There was no such Tiranga Rally organized by the VHP or Bajrang Dal. If there would have been any rally, official permission would have been taken. Nothing of this sort happened. VHP and Bajrang Dal have nothing to do with this incident,” Pandey said.

On asking about the claims made by ‘journalist’ on social media, Pandey said that it has now become fashionable to defame VHP and Bajrang Dal. “This is sheer propaganda which is being run by the Islamists. They only know to spread lies. People like these should stop calling themselves as journalists,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh: Construction of Kalki Mandir on private land was blocked during SP govt after Muslims objected, Allahabad HC terms the order unconstitutional

On August 9, Allahabad High Court said that the right to construct a Temple on private land is protected under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India. The court further observed that such construction cannot “offend” the religious sentiments of any other community. The judgment by the bench of Justice Salil Kumar Rai and Justice Surendra Singh came in a 2016 matter where Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam Ji Maharaj was given permission to construct Kalki Bhagwan Temple on private plots without obtaining permission from the district administration. Notably, Acharya Pramod has made headlines for Muslim appeasement.

Acharya Pramod bought the land with a plan to build the Kalki Dham Temple in Achora Kambo village of Sambhal district in 2016, with the laying foundation stone scheduled in November 2016. However, the National President of the Muslim Kisan Union, Inamur Rahman Khan, objected to it, claiming the Muslims in the area did not want the construction to happen. He approached District Magistrate in the matter, after which the DM passed a stay on construction.

It is notable that at that time Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government was in power in Uttar Pradesh.

An application to recall the 2016 order was dismissed by the DM office in 2017, saying that Sambhal was a communally sensitive area and the temple’s construction might disturb law and order. The DM stated that Acharya Pramod could not claim Freedom of Religion under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India.

The District Magistrate further pointed out that if people visit the temple, they will encroach on the government land around the plots for parking. Furthermore, a mosque just 144 meters away from the proposed temple site led to opposition from the Muslim community. The DM added that a Kalki Temple already existed 20 KM away from the proposed site.

Also, any regulatory authority did not sanction the plan of the Temple and the Zila Panchayat of Sambhal or the Nagar Palika, which also became a reason for staying on the construction of the DM.

Acharya Pramod approached High Court against the DM orders. In the petition, Pramod’s counsel argued that the orders by DM were based on assumptions and not evidence. In its judgment, the court noted there was no dispute regarding the title of the petitioner over the land. Furthermore, the court observed the case was not of any religious group that would hurt the religious sentiments of any other religious group or community.

The court noted there was no evidence presented in the court on record that would show any substantial opposition by the Muslim community, and even if there was any opposition,  “mere construction of a Temple by any person on his private property cannot offend the religious sensibilities of any other community.”

The court observed, “The right of the petitioner to construct a Temple on his private property is protected by Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution, and there is no evidence that the construction would have disturbed public order or was against morality or would be inimical to public health. As noted earlier, there is nothing on record to show that the petitioner, by constructing a Temple intended to insult any other religious community, and mere objection by a few persons belonging to other religions cannot be a ground to restrict the rights guaranteed under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India.”

The court said the district administration has the right to exercise its power under the CrPC, including the powers under Section 144 of the CrPC, if any communal disturbance happens after the temple’s construction. Furthermore, it is DM’s duty to protect the fundamental rights of every citizen.

Acharya Pramod and his Muslim appeasement

Interestingly, a controversial Congress leader, Acharya Pramod, once said, “Nahi hai jo Mohammad ka, humara ho nahi sakta.” (People who are not followers of Prophet Mohammad cannot be together with us). His statement came in 2017 while Muslims in Sambhal opposed Temple construction on his land.

In June 2017, while addressing an event, ‘Acharya’ Pramod made a shocking communal statement and said, “People who are not followers of Prophet Mohammad cannot be together with us”. Interestingly, these videos became viral in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh after ABP journalist Vikas Bhaduria shared them.

Pramod Krishnam is also known for his severe Muslim appeasement. Claiming to be an ardent follower of Hazrat Ali, son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad, Krishnam has also attempted to polarise the elections by seeking votes based on religion. As the Congress party has fielded him as a candidate from the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, Pramod Krishnam has been busy appeasing Lucknow’s Shia community voters by reciting songs and prayers on Hazrat Ali during his campaigning.

On April 28th April, Pramod Krishnam speaking to Kabil Sibal-backed Tiranga TV, went on to question the Narendra Modi government for promulgating an ordinance three times on the issue of Triple Talaq and not once on Ram Mandir. By deliberately ignoring that Triple Talaq has been declared illegal by the Supreme Court and Ram Mandir issue is still being sub-judice, Pramod Krishna resorted to propaganda by falsely comparing a religious issue with a socio-gender issue of Triple Talaq.

Uncle vs nephew in Chhattisgarh: BJP gives ticket to Vijay Baghel against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from Patan

Bharatiya Janata Party has released the list of 21 candidates for the assembly elections to be held later this year in Chhattisgarh. Vijay Baghel is one of the names on the aforementioned list who is a Lok Sabha MP from the Durg constituency. He is scheduled to contest polls from the Patan assembly seat which falls under the Durg district.

Interestingly, Congress leader and Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel is the present MLA from there. More importantly, there is an uncle-nephew relationship between the two leaders, as Vijay Baghel is the nephew of Bhupesh Baghel. Now, it would be intriguing to witness the electoral contest between the uncle and nephew in this seat.

The Patan assembly has long served as the district’s main political hub. There has been political consciousness among freedom fighters in the region since the beginning and the results of the awareness are regularly visible during the polls. This is the reason behind the change in results every time during elections because the voters have always voted with their discretion.

Bharatiya Janata Party had fielded Moti Lal Sahu in front of the Congress veteran from this seat last time and he had won by more than 27000 votes. This is the fourth time that Vijay Baghel will be in the fray against his uncle. He had first contested the poll in 2003 on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket from the Patan seat opposite the latter and was defeated.

He was defeated a second time in 2008 by the Congressman by a margin of 7,500 votes. Afterwards, the nephew and uncle faced off yet again in 2013 and the former failed to win for the third time. Vijay Baghel replied, “I will accept the party’s decisions if they send me to run from the Patan assembly constituency,” when asked if he would contest in the assembly elections from the Patan constituency, in an interview.

Ram Vichar Netam, the party’s most prominent tribal figure, has also had his seat transferred by the Bharatiya Janta Party. He has been now chosen to run for the Ramanuganj seat rather than Balrampur. He has been in politics for more than 30 years and has been a cabinet minister for 10 years. He has also served as the president of Scheduled Tribe Morcha. The party has given a ticket to former Chief Minister Raman Singh’s nephew Vikrant Singh from Khairagarh.

There are a total of 90 assembly seats in Chhattisgarh. The state currently has a total of 11 Lok Sabha and 5 Rajya Sabha seats. There are a total of 27 districts in Chhattisgarh. A total of 51 seats in the state are reserved for general, 10 seats for Scheduled Castes and 29 seats for Scheduled Tribes.

The BJP suffered a humiliating loss in the 2018 Chhattisgarh assembly elections. The party only succeeded in winning 15 seats whereas Congress was able to capture 68 seats and formed the government. It is currently preoccupied with addressing numerous concerns as well as determining the causes behind the seats it lost and formulating a future strategy.

Furthermore, Bharatiya Janata Party has also announced the names of 39 individuals who are set to contest the upcoming assembly election in Madhya Pradesh.
