In Rohini area of Delhi 994 kgs of crackers were seized in total and 25 cases registered. 23 people were also arrested by Delhi Police. Amusingly, from East Delhi, Delhi Police has arrested two people for possession of two ‘sutli bombs’ and two ‘used bombs’. Last year too Delhi Police had arrested a man after his children were found bursting crackers.

The Supreme Court in 2018 had banned conventional firecrackers in Delhi in a bid to curb air pollution in the national capital.

Uttarakhand: Anuj and Ishu injured in clash over Diwali firecrackers, Mehruddin, Shahnawaz, Bhura and Salim arrested

A major clash broke out between two communities over bursting of crackers during Diwali in the village of Libberhedi, Uttranchal. The arguments over Diwali firecrackers deteriorated into a massive stone-pelting, which caused a stampede in the village and injured four people. Police rushed to the spot after being informed and charged baton to disperse the crowd. In the view of the current tense situation in the village, the police have deployed additional personnel to prevent recurrence of any untoward situation. Four people have also been arrested by the police.

According to reports, the relationship between two communities in the village was tensed for the last few days over the issue of bursting firecrackers. But this situation turned violent when a large group of one community attacked a youth from the other community.

Anuj, the younger brother of Arvind, a resident of Libberhedi village, was coming back from his uncle’s house in Rudki on Diwali night after delivering milk. When he was coming back to the village on a motorcycle with Ishu, a young man from the village, around 50-60 people including Mehruddin, Sohail, Shahnawaz, Bhura were standing in front of Shamim’s shop in the village. These people stopped the two, thrashed them and attempted to and attempted to kill Ishu. Both were badly injured after attacked by sticks and sharp weapons. During this attack, Anuj managed to inform his family about the incident. In no time, a swarm of people gathered and rescued Ishu and Anuj.

They approached the spot where the two sides came to blows with each other. They started throwing stones at each other. There was a stampede as soon as the stones were pelted. The police arrived at the spot to take control of the deteriorating situation. However, despite the police’s presence, heavy stone pelting continued. Four people were injured from one side. The police charged baton at the fighting crowds and rushed the injured to the hospital.

Anuj was seriously injured and he was referred to an advanced medical facility. Ishu was discharged after providing first aid at a local health centre.

On Anuj’s complaint, the police caught Mehruddin, Shahnawaz, Bhura and Salim while the other accused are still at large. Apart from these four, a case has been registered against 8 unknown persons. Inspector Pradeep Chauhan said that police forces have been deployed in view of the tension in the village. The police have also said that they have not received any complaint from the other side.

A day ahead of EU delegation’s visit to Kashmir, terrorists lob grenades at bus stop injuring 20 civilians

0

Some terrorists lobbed a grenade into a crowd waiting at a bus stop in Kashmir’s Sopore town, injuring at least 20 civilians on Monday. This came a day before a group of 28 MPs from the European Union are slated to visit Jammu and Kashmir.

The civilians were attacked by grenades when they were waiting at the bus stand. Of the 20 civilians injured, six people who have been critically injured were referred to a hospital in Srinagar. The others are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, officials said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab the attackers. However, no arrests have been made so far, police confirmed.

Nearly three months after its decision on Article 370, the Union government has decided to allow a delegation of European parliamentarians to travel to Srinagar and see the situation in Kashmir. India is all poised to expose Pakistan for its nefarious propaganda about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as 28 member delegation of Members of European Parliament will visit Srinagar tomorrow to observe the situation in the state firsthand.

This move came in after six American lawmakers had written to Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, claiming that the picture portrayed by India in the Valley is different from the one being told to them by their constituents and sought from India free access for foreign journalists and congressmen to Kashmir.

This team would be the first foreign delegation to visit Kashmir since the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir was revoked in August.

After India took the bold decision to withdraw Kashmir’s autonomy, it put the region under a preventive lockdown. However, after the administration has been gradually easing the restrictions in the Valley, an isolated Pakistan due to its desperation to internationalise the issue has been attempting to incite violence in the valley to disrupt the normalcy.

In a bid to do so Pakistani terrorists have been killing non-local workers, traders and truck drivers to instil fear amongst the civilians in the Valley. With Pakistan trying to meddle in Indian internal affairs, at least three non-locals have been shot dead by Islamic terrorists. In just last two weeks, two non-local truck drivers have been shot down by terrorists. In another such incident, an apple trader from Punjab named Charanjeet Singh was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Shopian district last Wednesday.

These killing came two days after terrorists shot dead a truck driver from Rajasthan and assaulted an orchard owner in Shirmal village in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The truck, bearing a Rajasthan registration number, was set ablaze on its way to Jammu. The body of the driver was recovered from the truck.

In August, terrorists had shot and killed a 65-year-old shopkeeper for defying their diktat and keeping his shop open. On September 7, three fruit traders and a toddler were shot by terrorists in Sopore.

P Chidambaram taken to AIIMS after his health deteriorated in Tihar Jail, later discharged from hospital

0

Held in judicial custody in Tihar Jail for his alleged role in INX Media scam, former finance minister and UPA stalwart P Chidambaram was reportedly shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi after his health deteriorated.

74-year-old Chidambaram was taken to the premier medical institution after he had complained of stomach ache. His condition was found to be stable by the doctors at AIIMS, and he was discharged from the hospital after spending some time there.

The Special Court in Delhi on October 23 extended P Chidambaram’s judicial custody by a week till October 30 in the money laundering case related to INX Media company. He was allowed western toilet, home-cooked food, medicines and a separate cell during his stay in the jail.

Representing Chidambaram, counsel Kapil Sibal in the court argued that the veteran Congress leader was ailing from multiple diseases, including dyslipidemia and irritable bowel disease. He also claimed that Chidambaram lost considerable weight and his health was rapidly deteriorating in Tihar jail. However, the court extended his judicial custody maintaining that he could be shifted to AIIMS if his health deteriorated.

On October 5, P Chidambaram was taken to AIIMS after he complained of stomach ache. However, he was brought back to Tihar Jail the same evening. P Chidambaram was held up in Tihar Jail since September 5 this year in the INX Media scam in which both CBI and ED have been probing his role in the case.

The former Union Minister was arrested by the CBI P Chidambaram on August 21 on the charges of misusing his position as finance minister under UPA regime and granting several clearances to INX Media company which also received overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007, during Chidambaram’s tenure as finance minister.

Left goons at JNU block way of ambulance in which Dean was being taken for health checkup

Students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) protested on Monday over various issues such as a hike in hostel fees and electricity charges. However, during their protests, they engaged in despicable behaviour that has potentially endangered the life of a professor. As per our sources, the ‘protests’ were backed by the Leftist student organization.

According to Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, professor Umesh Kadam fell ill due to the protests and the students blocked the ambulance carrying Kadam.

In a statement on Twitter, Jagadesh Kumar slammed the ‘students’ and called their conduct ‘highly condemnable and outrageous’. The statement said that the students did not allow the ambulance to move towards the hospital. It said that the students displayed ‘complete heartlessness and insensitivity’ towards the professor who fell sick with high blood pressure.

Even after the professor’s wife requested the students to make way for her husband, the students refused to budge and prevented the University security from shifting him to an appropriate hospital outside the campus. Instead, the ambulance was forced to the University Health Center and Professor Kadam was now confined to a doctor’s office while the students surrounded the health center.

The statement also said, “The University administration is contemplating on a severe action against the students whose conduct today has been not only unbecoming, but dangerous and shameful. The University shall not be allowed to be held hostage to the whims of a small section of these agitating students and brook no indiscipine in the campus.”

As per VC Kumar, a meeting of the Inter Hostel Administration (IHA) was scheduled to be held today at 10 a.m. in the convention center of JNU when students who are not a part of the IHA forcibly entered the venue and disrupted the meeting. After they were requested to leave and let the meeting continue, the students started sloganeering following which Professor Kadam fell sick.

The ailing professor’s wife and child were inside the health center as well. However, the students weren’t allowing Professor Kadam to be shifted to an appropriate hospital outside. His ambulance was blocked while on its way to the health center.

Unfortunately, such hooliganism has become the hallmark of college campuses dominated by the Left. Recently, Union Minister Babul Supriyo was manhandled by protesting Leftist students at Jadavpur University for merely entering the campus and attending an event. He was blocked from leaving afterward and the Governor of West Bengal himself had to travel to the campus to rescue Supriyo.

Philippine Army shows interest to buy India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile to increase its costal security

0

The Philippine Army has shown a keen interest in buying the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, regarded as the world’s fastest supersonic missile, in order to strengthen its coastal defences.

Major General Reynaldo Aquino, the Vice Commander of the Philippine Army, confirmed this over the weekend while undertaking a tour of the visiting Indian Navy Ship (INS) Sahyadri docked in the country’s capital Manila.

Philippine Army wants BrahMos missile as its First Land-Based Missile System Battery (1LBMS).

Philippine Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala also confirmed that Major General Reynaldo Aquino and INS Sahyadri Commanding Officer Captain Ashwin Arvind discussed the possible acquisition of the BrahMos missile.

The Indian-manufactured weapons system is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft, or land. The BrahMos missile, with a flight range of 290 kilometres, can ensure the lower dispersion of targets, quicker engagement time and non-interception by any known weapons system in the world. It is the world’s fastest anti-ship cruise missile in operation.

This extraordinary missile has been developed as a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) of Russia as BrahMos Aerospace via an inter-government agreement.

It was successfully test-fired at 10.20 am on September 30, 2019, from Chandipur in Odisha for its full range of 290-km during the launch jointly conducted by DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace. The successful flight test was a landmark achievement in enhancing India’s “Make in India” capabilities. While several nations have expressed interest in the BrahMos, India has yet to secure an export deal for the weapon, which was first tested in 2001.

Last year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Philippines, India and Philippines signed four agreements, including one to step up bilateral cooperation in the defence and logistics sector.

The Left has a new enemy: Brahmin Sambar Powder

‘Sociologist’ Nandini Sundar, professor at Delhi University and wife of the founding editor of The Wire, has found herself a new punching bag: Brahmin Sambar Powder. She said the product, which is hosted by Amazon, should be ‘banned for promoting casteism’. She added, “If there was a will there are laws. But this country is now openly casteist and communal”.

The product advertises itself as ‘direct from a Brahmin home’. Like almost everything related to advertising, it’s most likely to be a marketing gimmick. However, it was enough to send the Left into a frenzy. Amusingly, these are the same people who had erupted into a raucous cheer when Zomato said, ‘Food has no religion‘. It appears people who believe food has no religion do believe it has a caste.

Brahmin cuisine or Tamil Brahmin cuisine essentially is ‘satvik’ food which does not include onion or garlic. Some traditional TamBrahm households also do not include drumsticks, bottle gourd, carrots, etc because they are not considered ‘satvik’.

This isn’t the first time that the issue of ‘Brahmin food’ has popped up in Leftist discourse. Not too long ago, Akshaya Patra of Iskcon was attacked by the Left and slandered for providing a Satvik diet at schools during midday meals. It was demanded that the government terminate its midday meals contract with the organization on grounds that it was providing children nutrition-deficient ‘Brahmin diet’.

Read: Halal certification of vegetarian products: It’s no longer about choice, but making others pay for your beliefs

As it turned out, one of the activists at the forefront of demonizing Akshaya Patra is a rabid anti-Brahmin bigot who believes ‘Brahmins obstruct India’s development’ and that ‘brahmins should be actively taken out of certain key spaces.’ Later, Akshaya Patra received a shining endorsement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself and was also awarded the Gandhi Peace Prize.

In the case of ‘Brahmin Sambar Powder’ as well, it appears to be a recipe or a cuisine specific ingredient, rather than anything sinister. ‘Chinese cuisine’ or ‘Continental cuisine’ does not refer to anything sinister, these are just varieties of food. The ‘direct from a Brahmin home’ reference may be an effort by the sellers to advertise its authenticity more than anything else. ‘Chinese food made by the Chinese themselves’ is likely to attract more customers than ‘Chinese food made by a Bengali chef from Jadavpur University’.

There’s nothing wrong with that. If no one sees any problem with various cuisines named according to regions or cultures or specific groups of people, what’s wrong with Tamil Brahmin cuisine? If no one has any issue with Jain Pav Bhaji (the one which is made without use of root vegetables), and they shouldn’t, why does anyone have an issue with ‘Iyer Sambar Powder’, which in all possibilities is cuisine specific to Tamil Brahmins and does not contain onion-garlic?

There’s no crime involved here, no one is being oppressed by sambar powder unless the suggestion is that people are oppressed by the very mention of Brahmin surnames, which could very well be the case here.

Intriguingly, while the likes of Nandini Sundar rant on and on about ‘Brahmin food’, they never seem to find the time to highlight the extremely problematic aspect of Halal meat. It’s far more problematic than any ‘Brahmin food’ could ever be even at its absolute worst. However, as usual, a stoic silence is maintained on Halal while the Left outrages about the other.

Halal can only be performed by a Muslim man. Thus, non-Muslims are automatically denied employment at a Halal firm. There are certain other conditions that must be fulfilled that makes it quite clear that it is intrinsically an Islamic practice. Guidelines for the procedure make it clear that non-Muslim employees cannot be employed in any part of the slaughtering process. Even the labelling of the meat can be done by Muslims only. The guidelines also say that if at the time of slaughtering the name of anyone else other than Allah is invoked (i.e. animal sacrificed for him/her), then the meat becomes Haram “unlawful.”

The pervasiveness of the practice and the insistence of the Muslim community on consuming only Halal meat has resulted in Muslims effectively creating a monopoly over the process for people of their community. It is a process through which non-Muslims are deliberately denied employment while being fed meat that goes against their religious beliefs. Now, the process of Halal certification has also been expanded to include vegetarian and other products which is little more than forcibly extracting money from the businessman for people of their community.

However, as fate would have it, the Left flagrantly ignores the monumental bigotry that is deeply embedded in the Halal process. Instead, they squabble about and rage against ‘Brahmin food’. Halal is more widespread in society than ‘Brahmin food’ could ever be. The process of Halal by its very definition discriminates against people of other faith. And yet, the Left prioritizes ranting against ‘Brahmin Sambar Powder’ rather than the former. It does appear that the Left has its priorities set straight.

Nandini Sundar, herself, has an extremely shady past. She was accused of a tribal man’s murder in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma. The Supreme Court in November 2018 refused to quash the FIR against her and ordered the Chhattisgarh government to submit its report. It was only after the Congress party came to power in the state after winning the state elections later that year that the Police gave her a clean chit in the case in February 2019.

Tensions continue between two Christian factions over possession of church in Kerala following Supreme Court verdict

0

Tension prevailed in Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district in Kerala on Monday after a large number of priests and followers belonging to the Jacobite faction prevented those belonging to the Orthodox faction from entering a church to take its possession as per a Supreme Court’s 2017 verdict regarding the Church’s management. In its order, the apex court had given the Orthodox Christians rights over thousands of churches which were under the control of Jacobite Christians. Jacobites are refusing to give away the churches, leading to frequent protests and clashes.

Hundreds of Jacobite supporters are protested and raised slogans outside the church known as Kothamangalam Cheriyapalli, which the Jacobite church followers consider to be their major pilgrim centre.

The supporters of the Jacobite faction closed the doors of the church from inside barring the people of the Orthodox faction to enter the church premises. A large number of police forces have been deployed in the premises.

On being asked whether they would give in to the growing protests, Thomas Paul Ramban, an Orthodox priest, said that the court has ordered to the police to implement its order and said they would only leave if the state police chief admits that his force was incapable of implementing the apex court order.

Meanwhile, the Jacobite faction was hellbent that they would not allow the rival faction to take control of the church.

The district administration declared the congregation of the Jacobite faction inside the church as “illegal” and urged them to leave the place.

The Orthodox faction had reached the church to take its possession after Muvattupuzha court, following the Supreme court 2017 verdict, directed the police to provide protection to their priests to conduct religious services in the church.

In a landmark judgement delivered on July 3, 2017, the Supreme Court had ruled on a centuries-old dispute between Jacobite and Orthodox factions of Kerala’s Malankara Church. The SC had ruled that 1100 parishes and their churches under the Malankara Church, which were until then controlled by the Jacobite faction should be controlled by the Orthodox faction, as per the 1934 Malankara Church guidelines.

Last month, the Kerala High court directed the police to arrest the supporters of the Jacobite faction who had blocked the police the previous day from implementing the controversial Supreme Court 2017 verdict regarding the Churchs’ management. The supporters belonging to the Jacobite faction, under the leadership of a few Metropolitan priests, had on September 25 locked the gates and assembled inside the St Mary’s Church in Ernakulam district’s Piravom in Kerala, barring supporters of the Orthodox faction to formally take over the administration of it.

The dispute between the two Christian factions are not new, in fact, it is about a century old. Last year, the situation at the Piravom Valiyapalli remained tensed after one member of the Jacobite faction threatened to jump off the Church building, while others poured kerosene over their heads and threatened to set themselves alight, as police then too tried to implement the SC verdict.

British media personality Katie Hopkins heckled and attacked by Pakistanis in London on Diwali

0

British media personality, columnist and former businesswoman Katie Hopkins was on Sunday heckled and attacked by a Pakistani mob in London who took to the streets to oppose the Indian government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 on the occasion of Diwali 2019. Katie alleged that the protest march was carefully engineered on the day of Diwali in order to disrespect the religious festival celebrated by Indians across the world.

As can be seen from the video attached in the above tweet uploaded by Katie, scores of Pakistanis and their sympathisers who were part of a procession registering their protest against India’s decision in Kashmir harassed Katie for calling out their propaganda. Katie asserted that Pakistanis deliberately took out a procession on Sunday as a mark of disrespect for the Hindu festival of Diwali. She alluded that such a scenario would not have been possible had it been Eid and contended that Islam taking over Great Britain is responsible for such chaotic turmoil on the day of Diwali.

“This is the centre of London today. This is on the religious festival of Diwali. Do you really think if this was Eid, it was acceptable to have these protests on Eid? No, but because these guys are Pakistanis, Islam is taking over my country(England). Not a single woman in these protests, all men but not a single woman is a part of this protest march,” Katie said.

Katie further alleged that she was being called “slut” and “whore” by Pakistani men participating in the protests. One of the protestors came treacherously close to Katie and heckled her by asking if she is getting paid for “hating on Muslims”. Another protestor pulled off the beanie cap donned by Katie. Another protestor who was carrying a propaganda placard continued to video bomb the recording made by Katie notwithstanding her veritable attempts to avoid him.

One protestor carrying a big loudspeaker stood next to Katie while she was recording her comments, and an announcement made by a protester over the sound system meant that its sound overpowered Katie’s own voice, and only the announcements coming out from the loudspeaker were recorded in the video made by Katie, while her own voice was not recorded.

A man in the mob alleged that the writings of Katie Hopkins were instigating white supremacists to gun down Muslims in mosques. When she denied the allegations, the mob booed her right in front of her. People present in the protest surrounded her and shouted slogans against her.

WaPo’s sympathetic headline on Baghdadi shows how frightening modern ‘liberalism’ is

Yesterday, US forces raided a compound in Northern Syria where ISIS Chief Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi was hiding, leading to the world’s biggest terrorist killing himself. Considering the horrific nature of the crimes committed by the Islamic State, you would expect all members of the civilized world to be uniformly delighted by his end. Let’s hope he suffered.

But Western liberals beg to differ. The Washington Post carried an obituary of him with a frighteningly sympathetic headline, referring to him as an “austere religious scholar.”

Untitled.png
Washington Post glorifying ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

The Washington Post later changed its headline in obituary of Baghdadi after outrage broke all around. But the thing is that this is not an isolated incident. It fits into an increasingly common pattern. Remember how the New York Times wrote about the 9/11 attacks being a case of “planes taking aim” at the World Trade Center?

Untitled.png
NYTimes watering down the 9/11 terror attacks

Remember that ISIS carried out numerous attacks on US forces and civilians. They brutally beheaded American civilians and put the videos on the internet. And that some 3000 Americans lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

As such, this changed attitude from New York Times or Washington Post reveals something truly frightening about modern liberalism. In at least two ways.

For years, we Indians have chafed at the way “anti-India” bias of such international media outlets. Most recently, their one sided coverage of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 left many Indians fuming.

But what explains their bias? One popular theory is that liberals in Europe and America simply don’t care enough about what happens to Hindus in India. Perhaps they just don’t know enough? This holds out the hope that if only they were more sensitized or more informed, they would be more fair.

But the stance of Washington Post towards ISIS blows this theory to bits. They may not know enough about Kashmir, but surely they know enough about what ISIS has done to Americans. The New York Times is based in New York : they know all about the pain of 9/11. So this urge to whitewash the crimes of Islamism is coming from a place deeper than ignorance.

Read: The Washington Post headline on Baghdadi’s death: Another progressive step in the long march of liberalism

Another popular theory to explain the softness of liberals towards Islamism is to follow the money. The finger of suspicion is often pointed towards the Saudis and their myriad investments (both direct and indirect) in all sorts of companies all over the world. Perhaps there are economic compulsions that make big media go soft on Islamism?

That explanation doesn’t wash in this case. The Saudi royal family absolutely despises ISIS. They see ISIS as the biggest threat to their own rule.

What explanation does that leave? If not due to ignorance, if not due to money, why is the modern liberal whitewashing Islamic terror? Could it be out of genuine support for extreme Islamism?

A truly frightening possibility.

If this is true, it radically changes how we have to interact with the global left. No amount of information or lobbying will suffice. You can’t change the minds of people who might sympathize with ISIS, can you?

If this is true, it leaves us with no option but to view the international left as an active security threat.

It’s more than just hypocrisy.  They become active security threats who sympathize with terrorists. Calling them hypocrites or ignorant or foolish no longer makes sense. Their intent goes far beyond the scope of such words.

Where does that leave us? It is hard to say. How do we deal with a global media that is actively supporting terrorists? And they are not even in it for the money.
