Amethi police confirm viral video showing Dalit man being beaten up by Muslim men, 2 arrested

A video showing a man being mercilessly beaten up by a group of Muslim men has gone viral on social media. The Twitter user who shared the video claimed that a Dalit man was beaten up by men from the Muslim community in Amethi.

Following the video, the Amethi police, yesterday, released a sound byte in which an officer in-charge confirmed the incident.

He is heard saying that in the incident which transpired on June 21, 2019, in Jayas district in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, a Dalit man named, Shashank Padam Bhusan Sonkar was mercilessly beaten up by people of ‘another community’. Shashank’s brother and his wife also suffered injuries in the brawl. It is being claimed that the victim was opposing molestation of his sister when the people of the Muslim community attacked him and started beating him up.

The police confirm that on the basis of the victim’s wife’s complaint a case against the miscreants had been registered under IPC sections, 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and the SC/ST Act. Two arrests have also been made so far, confirmed inspector Tiloi in the sound byte.

He further confirms that the police are investigating the case and perpetrators would be punished.

Many such incidents of atrocities and discrimination against Dalits by men from the Muslims community have previously also come to the fore. Yesterday we reported how the Dalit community had approached the police in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh against caste-based discrimination by Muslim barbers in the area.

Last month, it was reported how a Muslim mob had entered a temple in Ghasauli village, Meerut, and beat up a group of Dalit men who had put up loudspeakers in the temple for playing devotional songs. The Muslim community had objected to the loudspeaker on temple premises, which is near a mosque after the men from Dalit community put them up.

Later, the mob attacked the temple and beat up the Dalit men with lathis and sticks. They also reportedly attacked them with a sharp object and even started pelting stones. Over half a dozen people inside the temple were injured and the communal tensions escalated.

In February also, reports had emerged wherein a minor conflict between some people belonging to the Dalit and the Muslim communities escalated into communal violence in Durveshpur village of Sardhana, Uttar Pradesh.

BJP’s Mukul Roy sounds the war bugle, says 107 MLAs, mostly from TMC, set to join BJP ‘very soon’

West Bengal is turning out to be the state to watch out for as the political battle seems to be simmering post BJP’s new-found foothold in the state. Mukul Roy, BJP leader, has now claimed that 107 MLAs, majority of whom are from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are all set to join BJP ‘very soon’.

He said that 107 MLAs belong mostly the the TMC, but a few are from Congress and CPIM. He also asserted that most people are sick of Mamata Banerjee’s rule and are fed up with the way things are functioning.

BJP had recently won 18 out of the 42 seats in West Bengal during the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Since then, 6 TMC MLAs have joined BJP and one each from Congress and CPIM have switched the the saffron party.

After dwindling electoral fortunes, Mamata Banerjee had hired Prashant Kishore to improve the image of her party and Kishore had recently announced that his aim was to get 5 lakh youngsters to join the party.

Last month, there were speculations that TMC supremo Banerjee, spooked by BJP’s implausible inroads in West Bengal, had decided to hire services of renowned poll strategist Prashant Kishor almost two years ahead of the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.

After reports confirming that poll strategist had agreed to work for TMC started doing the rounds, JD(U) had distanced itself from the Kishor. JD(U) had on June 7, disowned Kishor, merely eight months after inducting him as the party’s National Vice-President.

According to reports, however, Kishor is unlikely to be the face of TMC campaign in the state. His team is specifically looking into the reasons behind the shift of vote bank from Left to BJP and the region-specific reasons behind BJP’s vote share increase in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.

The World Cup is about to come to its conclusion, and there would be a new World Champion on Sunday. Individual players gave their best to help the team to win the cup. So if one has to make a World Cup XI of 2019, who all can be part of that?

2. Rohit Sharma

He is the top performer of the World Cup, most runs and hundreds in the tournament. The perfect partner for Warner too, a left-hand, right-hand combination and someone who takes time to get set. Once Rohit is set, we all know what he can do with his magic willow.

9. Jofra Archer

England’s most significant find of the tournament, they picked him over David Willey, and he proved the selectors his worth. Nineteen wickets in the World Cup before the finals, most by any English bowler in any World Cup edition. He is super quick with the ball and has bowled the maximum number of dot balls in the tournament (338).

10. Jasprit Bumrah

The number one ODI bowler can swing the ball both ways, keeping the batsman guessing. The most economical bowler of World Cup 2019. Imagine the situation for the batsmen when they have to face Starc and Bumrah in tandem. A treat to watch for the fans, maybe someday in IPL.

‘Chacha Nehru Madarsa’ run by former VP Hamid Ansari’s wife to also have a ‘temple’ inside

Salma Ansari, the wife of former Vice President Hamid Ansari, has decided to build both a temple and a mosque inside the Chacha Nehru Madarsa that she runs in Aligarh. In the year 2017, rat poison was reportedly mixed in the water supply of her madarsa by some unknown men.

She said that the step is to ensure the safety of the hostel students who need to go outside for visiting a temple or a mosque.

Salma Ansari told that she got her school affiliated as a madarsa because it cost her much cheaper compared to the cost of affiliation from other boards. She said that people had warned her that people would be hesitant to associate with her school if she got it affiliated it as a madarsa. However, the biggest donors of her madarsa are Hindus and the six biggest rolling trophies of her school are also funded by Hindus.

Speaking on the illegal weapons recovered from madarsa in Bijnor, Ansari condemned the incident and said that madarsas should ensure that such incidents do not take place. Ansari also said that there is a need for a law to control the population and that people need to be educated about population control. “There is a drastic climatic change that is taking place. Monsoons are weakening. People in villages travel miles for water. Fields are drying”, she said.

Recently, a former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer had levelled some serious allegations on her husband former Vice President Hamid Ansari of endangering the lives of RAW officers in Tehran and exposing the RAW set-up there. This allegedly happened during Ansari’s tenure as Indian Ambassador to Iran.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has sent a legal notice to the Entertainment Journalist Guild and Press Club of India for “wrongful, immoral, unethical and illegal acts of lending support to a journalist Justin Rao who is accused of indulging in unprofessional and illegal activities”.

She has accused the journalist Justin Rao of intentionally violating journalistic norms by openly ridiculing, annoying, criminally intimidating and defaming her.

Recently, Kangana’s sister took to Twitter to post a video message where she shot back at the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild for her their alleged bias and propaganda. Amusingly, a Google search for the words ‘Entertainment Journalists Guild’ prior to this month returns nothing, which means there is no news or any mention about this organisation prior to their announcement about the actor. The Twitter handle also mentions no website of the organisation.

Muslim barbers in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, refuse haircuts to Dalits

Dalits in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh have approached the police and district magistrate against caste-based discrimination by Muslim barbers in the area. Allegedly, Muslim barbers have refused to offer haircuts to Dalits living in their village.

According to a report published in India Today, elders from the Dalit community alleged they have been suffering discrimination for years and now want their new generations to lead a free life. They asserted putting an end to the caste-based discrimination and claimed their children face discrimination at the saloons run by Muslims. Upon receiving the complaint, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Moradabad, Amit Pathak created a joint team of local district officials and police officers to investigate the case. Pathak asserted to take strict actions if the allegations are found to be true.

The barbers in the area have shut shops to protest the complaint filed by the Dalits. They argued that entertaining Dalit customers would mean losing customers from their own community. It is pertinent to mention, as per reports, Peepalsana is a Muslim majority village.

“This has been going on for decades but now we have decided to raise our voice against this practice which amounts to promoting untouchability,” said Rakesh Kumar, a Dalit from the village.

According to them, they are educating their children who should be allowed to lead a dignified life like everyone in this changing world. They claimed the support of police and district administration in resolving the matter.

Kallan, a Dalit elder, has claimed that the Muslims in the neighbourhood hate the Dalits. He has even alleged that their children are not able to get married because they are mocked for not even being able to get haircuts in village saloons.

Anil Kumar, a Dalit youth, said that the relatives often humiliate them because of refusal of haircuts in the village. “Police negotiated the matter and the barbers agreed that will allow us to avail services. But now they have shut their shops. We have to travel long distances to get haircuts. Our problem must be resolved,” he said.

The barbers, however, have a different version. Naushad, a local resident said that the Dalits in the village used to go to nearby village Bhojpur for haircuts. “Dalits never used to visit barber shops here. But now they want to get haircuts here. The barbers were clueless when cops took them to the police station. There they came to know that Dalits have complained against them. I am 45 years old and in my lifetime no Dalit ever took a haircut in our shops,” he said.

Naushad pointed out the worries of the families of barbers in the village and said these shops are their only source of income. “If Dalits take haircut and shave in these shops, the towels will become dirty. How will other Muslims take haircuts after that?” he questioned.

Not just the barbers but other members from the Muslim community are also opposing the entry of Dalits in their barber shops. They suggested that Dalits should visit the ‘regular’ barber shop they have been visiting over the years.

Another local resident, Ali Ahmed said, “This is Muslim-majority village with 95% Muslim population. Today they [Dalits] are demanding entry in saloons, tomorrow they will start booking marriage halls. There are some people who want to create chaos here. The village has been peaceful for decades. This matter is being raised with ulterior motives.”

Meanwhile, Gulam Gaus, a local resident maintained their village has always has been peaceful.

“Hindus and Muslims here have never had any enmity. We want peace and won’t let anyone vitiate it. As far as saloon service for Dalits, people here don’t want them to visit the saloons in the village. If they [Dalits] want, they can start their own shop and avail services there,” Gaus added.

He stated further that this particular issue is being raised needlessly and claimed the involvement of ‘outsiders’ in this matter.

Khalistani terrorist Gopal Chawla admits Pakistan being under pressure from India to throw him out of Pakistani Sikh committee

Venting his frustration for being unceremoniously thrown out of the Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), Khalistani terrorist Gopal Singh Chawla admitted that Pakistan was under severe pressure from India for his removal from the committee.

A day before the crucial rounds of technical-talks for the Kartarpur corridor between India and Pakistan, Islamabad dropped Gopal Singh Chawla and other Khalistani proponents from the committee.

Miffed with the development, Chawla was found in a video admitting that Pakistan was under intense pressure from India for his removal. He also continued peddling his usual rhetoric regarding Khalistan. Apart from Chawla, the other anti-India, pro-Khalistani proponents that were dropped from the committee are Maninder Singh, Tara Singh, Bisan Singh, and Kuljit Singh.

Dropping Chawla’s name from the panel, an official statement from Pakistan on Friday said, “The Federal Government (Federal Cabinet) has been pleased to re-constitute the Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC).”

The dismissal of Chawla comes amidst persistent objection flagged by the Indian authorities over Chawla and other Khalistani supporters’ inclusion by Pakistan in the committee entrusted with the responsibility of overlooking the Kartarpur corridor project.

“India has made its concerns known to Pakistan and solicited explanations on reports that controversial elements have been selected in a committee associated with the Kartarpur corridor. It has been conveyed that the next meeting on the modalities can be scheduled at an appropriate time after receiving Pakistan’s response,” said India’s official response on March 29 this year.

The Kartarpur corridor had hit roadblocks after differences in modalities emerged between the two countries. India was particularly less inclined to take the talks ahead due to the presence of undesirable elements in the committee appointed by Pakistan to administer the project. Many security analysts have already been arguing that the real motive of Pakistan behind developing Kartarpur corridor is to mobilise terrorists and once again revive militancy in Punjab. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had voiced similar concerns too.

Gopal Singh Chawla, an ardent supporter of Khalistan, a separate nation for Punjabi Sikhs and is also an active member of pro-Khalistani terror outfits. He is also suspected to be involved in the bomb blast at a Nirankari gathering in Amritsar in which three people were killed. Gopal Chawla is also believed to be a close aide of Pakistan sponsored Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Hafeez Saeed and has been accused of being in contact with the ISI to hatch terror plots against India.

Unnao: Police says CCTV footage reveals that Hindu boys mentioned in FIR weren’t even present at the spot

The Unnao police released a press note today regarding the alleged thrashing of madarsa students over a game of cricket. The madarsa students had alleged they were forced to chant Jai Shri Ram and when they refused, they were beaten up.

On examining the CCTV footage it was found that the names mentioned in the FIR weren’t present at the spot. The madarsa students had an argument with one of the 4 people in the other group which led to a clash.

The police have also said the complaint of raising slogans hasn’t been verified yet. One has been arrested so far. Further investigation is to be done.

The UP police had earlier stated that the preliminary reports had revealed students weren’t beaten over chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. A fight had broken out between two groups of children over a game of cricket. They have said that there was no religious angle to the incident.

The children studying at Darul Uloom Madarsa were playing cricket at GIC cricket ground on June 11. It was alleged that some men had reached the ground and got into a fight with the Madarsa kids. Four children have been injured. An FIR was subsequently registered.

After the news of the incident spread, a Jama Masjid Imam had warned of communal violence. He said that ‘unprecedented action’ would be taken if the men who allegedly beat up the Madarsa children were not arrested by Friday namaz.

Recently in various cities, there have been incidents of violence after Friday prayers by Muslim mobs protesting against “mob lynchings” and alleged incidents of Muslims being forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram”, though many of such claims have been found to be either false or unverified.
