West Bengal violence: 3 BJP workers, including a 14 year old boy shot for chanting Jai Shree Ram, BJP slams Mamata

The political violence in the state of West Bengal continues unchecked as according to BJP, 3 workers have been shot by the police in Panchasayar in Bankura district allegedly for chanting Jai Shree Ram, reported Times Now. The incident was reported after a clash broke out between BJP and TMC workers after a group of BJP workers chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ during TMC MP Suvendu Adhikary’s public meeting in Bankura. A 14-year-old boy was also injured in the firing.

BJP West Bengal took to Twitter to say that the 14-year-old is critically injured and is battling for his life.

They also slammed the Chief Minister of the state, Mamata Banerjee, for “using her administration to unleash terror on innocent civilians just for perceived descent”.

BJP MP from Bankura slammed the police of the state and rejected their claims that they had fired to control a rioting mob.

Earlier, violent clashes had erupted once again in Bhatpara area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal following the visit of a three-member delegation of the BJP to the area. Slogans condemning the West Bengal police were raised during the visit of the delegation. According to reports, bombs were also hurled after which the police charged batons on the locals to stop the violence.

“When the clash between the two groups took place, police baton-charged one group and shot at the other. We want to know who took that decision? Who was behind this conspiracy? There should be a thorough probe into this. We will submit the report to (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah and apprise him of the on-ground situation here,” IANS quoted Ahluwalia as saying.

The BJP delegation consisting of former Union Minister S S Ahluwalia, Members of Parliament Satyapal Singh and BD Ram, had visited Bhatpara to review the situation and investigate the reports of violence against BJP workers after violent clashes on Thursday claimed the lives of 2 people and injured several.

Mamata Banerjee has been agitated several times before by the chants of Jai Shree Ram. She had recently said that she will continue to oppose ‘Jai Shree Ram’ to save the secular character of the country. BJP had decided to send 10 lakh postcards to Mamata Banerjee with the slogan of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ written on them.

Earlier, around five students sustained grievous injuries after violence erupted between Trinamool Chhatra Parishad and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wings of TMC and BJP, at Arambagh Kalikapur Netaji Mahavidyalaya in Hooghly over chanting of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan.

Recently a BJP worker who was chanting Jai Shri Ram while preparing for a victory procession of the party after winning elections was allegedly stabbed to death by TMC workers.

Mamata Banerjee had also got 10 people arrested for chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ at her. She had claimed that she was being abused.

West Bengal govt to observe death anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Overton Window continues to move ‘right’

Mamata Banerjee appears to be shifting tactics as public mood tilts against her amidst the Saffron Surge in the state. It was observable when she finally met the protesting junior doctors who were on strike following mob violence against them and talked to them very gently and referred to them as ‘Lokkhi Chheley Meye’ (Sweet Boys and Girls) after initially threatening them.

Now, the West Bengal state government has decided to observe the death anniversary of the legendary Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, who has long been a Saffron Icon and neglected by ‘Secular’ parties due to his allegiance to Hindu Nationalism.

It appears that Mamata Banerjee has realized that the perception of Trinamool being a ‘Muslim party’ is increasingly gaining traction among the public. The results of the 2019 General Elections amply demonstrated that there was great religious polarization that fuelled BJP’s rise in Bengal. While Muslims consolidated for Trinamool, Hindus did the same in BJP’s favour.

For a while, Mamata Banerjee tried to portray the BJP as a party of ‘Outsiders’. However, that didn’t appear to be working. Moreover, she accused the protesting doctors of being ‘Outsiders’ and working for the BJP while threatening them which further diluted the charge.

Now, that all else has failed, Mamata Banerjee as a sort of the last gasp appears to have decided that it will be a good idea to celebrate some of the Bengali cultural icons that the Hindutva camp respects. However, it is doubtful whether it will have the sort of impact she expects since, until the rise of the BJP, icons such as Shyama Prasad Mookerjee were completely ignored by the ‘Secular’ camp in order to protect their Muslim voter base.

Icons such as Sri Aurobindo, who are revered widely by Bengalis, still continue to be ignored by the secular camp due to their strong leanings towards Hindu Nationalism. And people notice these things.

The celebration of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee also reflects a great victory for the Saffron Camp. For a long while, Mookerjee remained a political untouchable among ‘secular’ politicians in the country due to his political inclinations. He is considered one of the ideological predecessors of the BJP. The observance of his death anniversary by Mamata Banerjee suggests that the BJP has been successful in fundamentally altering the political dimensions of India.

The Overton Window had been continuously shifting ever since Narendra Modi was elected the Prime Minister of the country in 2014. The next big shift came in 2017 when the Peethadheesh of Gorkahnath Muth, Yogi Adityanath, was appointed the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The nomination of Sadhvi Pragya from Bhopal Lok Sabha Constituency and the refusal to withdraw her nomination even after her remarks on Nathuram Godse was another big shift in the Window. And now, the celebration of Mookerjee by Mamata Banerjee clearly demonstrates the direction in which the country is headed in.

Swati Chaturvedi spreads fake news yet again, this time about Amit Shah allegedly sleeping in the parliament

An abusive troll masquerading as a journalist, Swati Chaturvedi has yet again resorted to sharing fake news concerning India’s Home Minister Amit Shah. In a tweet put out by Swati, she alleged that the former BJP president Amit Shah was merrily sleeping in the parliamentary session.

However, as is normally the case with Swati Chaturvedi and her kind of abusive trolls, she had jumped to the conclusion of Amit Shah sleeping in the parliament without watching the relevant proceedings of the Lok Sabha. The entire video of the proceedings reveals that Amit Shah was keenly listening to the statements made by BJP minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. In one of the instances during the video, while RS Prasad is busily enunciating his points, Amit Shah starts reading some papers on his desk. The image is spuriously captured at that very moment to give an impression that Amit Shah is sleeping in the parliamentary session. The entire video of the proceedings can be viewed here.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxe97H6fCPA]

The video clearly establishes that far from napping in the parliament, Amit Shah was attentively and studiously listening to RS Prasad’s speech. In fact, the video is not of the current Lok Sabha session but of the winter session in early January 2019. Swati had clearly not felt the need to verify the claims made by her before posting it on her Twitter page. After she posted the image inferring that Amit Shah is sleeping in the parliament, several Twitter denizens pointed out the falsity in her claim, consequently forcing her to withdraw her tweet.

Swati has a chequered history of sharing fake news and fanning falsehoods on Social Media. She had recently sent a defamation notice to OpIndia accusing us of having cost her readership because of our articles where we exposed her shoddy journalism on multiple occasions. In the past, Swati had falsely claimed an image of a girl beaten up by a jilted man as being an image capturing violence in Benaras Hindu University. She had also fabricated statements of a national leader on national television.

In another instance, she had spread lies about a simple speech by Amit Shah, the former BJP Party President. She gave credence to fake news, from a dubious website. She had earlier spread false claims that Kanhaiyya Kumar attacker was a BJP office-bearer.

Bhatpara violence: Clashes erupt yet again as BJP delegation reach the area after two people died, Police lathicharge locals

Violent clashes erupted once again in Bhatpara area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal following the visit of a three-member delegation of the BJP to the area. Slogans condemning the West Bengal police were raised during the visit of the delegation. According to reports, bombs were also hurled after which the police charged batons on the locals to stop the violence.

The clashes took place again after the delegation left as locals allegedly started protesting against the police.

Many people suffered injuries in the lathi-charge by the police. Justifying their action the police claimed that there was section 144 of the CrPC in place and therefore the action was required to bring the situation under control.

Commenting on Thursday’s violence, S S Ahluwalia questioned the action of the police and demanded an investigation. “When the clash between the two groups took place, police baton-charged one group and shot at the other. We want to know who took that decision? Who was behind this conspiracy? There should be a thorough probe into this. We will submit the report to Amit Shah and apprise him of the on-ground situation here”, said Ahluwalia.

Earlier in the day, a joint delegation of CPI(M) and Congress visited the areas of Baruipara, Jagaddal, and Bhatpara and demanded a CBI inquiry into the killings.

BJP trashes US State Department Report which makes wild assertions about Minorities in India, says biased against Modi govt

The 2019 International Religious Freedom Report by the US State Department was recently made available to the public by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The report claimed that the condition of minorities was deteriorating. Today, the BJP National Media Head, Anil Baluni, issued a press release trashing the claims made in the report.

Baluni said, “The basic presumption in this report that there is some grand design behind anti-minority violence is simply false. On the contrary, in most of such cases, these instances are carried out as a result of local disputes and by criminal mindsets.”

Accusing the report of bias, he stated further, “Mega schemes launched and effectively implemented by the Modi government have benefited all the castes, religions and regions equally. BJP is indeed proud of its record in uplifting living standards of all poor, underprivileged sections of the society, irrespective of their faith and gender.”

“Indian people have recently reaffirmed their confidence on the development agenda of the BJP-led NDA alliance by giving Modi a massive mandate in the parliamentary election,” he added.

The US report insinuated that there was a concerted attempt to marginalize the Muslim community. “The government continued its challenge in the Supreme Court to the minority status of Muslim educational institutions, which affords them independence in hiring and curriculum decisions. Proposals to rename Indian cities with Muslim provenance continued, most notably the renaming of Allahabad to Prayagraj. Activists said these proposals were designed to erase Muslim contributions to Indian history and had led to increased communal tensions,” the report says.

“Mob attacks by violent extremist Hindu groups against minority communities, especially Muslims, continued throughout the year amid rumours that victims had traded or killed cows for beef,” it stated.

The report also made references to Gharwapsi and the crackdown on foreign-funded NGOs. “Forced conversions of non-Hindus to Hinduism through “homecoming” ceremonies (gharwapsi) were reported, and rules on the registration of foreign-funded nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) were used discriminatorily against religious minority groups,” it said.

The claims made in the report and the consequent reply by the BJP is largely inconsequential for the relationship between the two countries and is mainly meaningless posturing by the USA. Such reports have been published against India since a long time and yet, ties between the countries have continued to strengthen.

It is one of those things that the USA does regularly to claim the moral high ground despite an overabundance of skeletons in its own closet. There is very little it could do right now about any of the claims made in the report even if they wanted to (and they don’t want to), especially since the Trump administration has started a Trade War with China.

The objectives of such reports are not to unravel some dark secrets or publish authentic truths as well, as is evidenced by the ample amount inaccuracies in it. The main objective is to fill the pockets of those who are tasked with the responsibility of creating these reports. The Americans should question their government why does it even bother to commission such reports and waste taxpayers’ money when they do not intend on doing anything about it.

At the end of the day, it’s the American version of NREGA for bureaucrats. The report mentions human rights violations in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as well, countries which the US considers its great allies. Therefore, it’s just garbage the only appropriate place for which is the nearest dustbin.

The Sabarimala private member’s bill tabled by Kerala MP asks only for maintaining ‘status quo’

N K Premachandran, Lok Sabha MP from Kollam in Kerala, recently tabled a private member’s bill seeking to overturn the Supreme Court’s 28 September 2018 verdict on Sabarimala. The bill known as the Sabarimala Sreedharma Sastha Temple (Special Provisions) Bill, 2019 makes no mention of granting a denominational status to the temple.

The bill asks for the continuation of religious practices at the Sabarimala as they were practised on the 1st of September 2018. The bill further asks for dropping all legal proceedings with respect to the religious practices of the temple and also asks protection from any legal proceeding after the enaction of the bill.

It’s also mentioned that any changes in the religious practices would be in accordance with the custom that had existed in the Sabarimala temple before the 1st of September. The central and state government are to ensure that these practices are maintained.

Yesterday, while Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi had pointed out that there was no mention of granting a denominational status to the Sabarimala temple. She termed the bill as being defective and said that it “would only serve the optics” creating headlines in newspapers.

The Supreme Court’s judgement in 2018 had denied the denominational status to the Sabarimala temple, which meant that the temple was denied rights guaranteed under Article 26 of the Constitution. Meenakshi Lekhi had argued that in order to truly protect a unique Hindu tradition, as it is practised in Sabarimala, legislators must take up the task to define what constitutes a ‘denominational practice’.

Taking a U-Turn on the Sabarimala issue, the CPM has now asked the central government should immediately bring about a law to protect the ‘customs and traditions’ of the temple. They have also for an ordinance if passing the law would take time.

The CPM had earlier welcomed the Supreme Court judgement despite massive protests that were staged by the devotees. The Supreme Court had in its judgement allowed the entry of women of all ages, contrary to the practices of the temple.

Devotees took it upon themselves to protect the temple. The state government had decided to unleash its brutality on protesting Ayyappa devotees. The Supreme Court judgement on the review petition that it heard in February has been pending for almost five months now.

How the Khan Market vipers refused to introspect despite push back from the people of India

Recently, I came across an article by a senior member of the Khan Market Gang on the 2019 Lok Sabha election results. It is full of angst about the failure of not being able to produce a result that would give cause for wild celebrations by the Gang.  It goes as follows:

Quote

Dear Sentinels of the Republic,

We goofed once again. As in the 2014 elections, every assumption we made during the 2019 campaign has been savaged. Each one was premised on the values we cherish — freedom, justice and fraternity. Yet all that we did to promote them was to create fear in the minds of voters: fear of Hindu nationalists continuing their control of levers of the state. It prompted us to clutch at the slenderest straw in the wind. That compounded our discomfiture.

We assumed, for example, that while Congress will go a little beyond three digits, its tally of seats would allow it to be more than a bit player in the formation of the next government. That didn’t happen. We also reckoned that BJP-led NDA would fail to reach the halfway mark this time. This would compel it to rope in ‘secular’ non-Congress, non-Left regional parties to take another shot at governance. The latter, we took for granted, would extract their pound of flesh: deny Narendra Modi any role in the new dispensation.

Towards this goal, we added our two-penny bit. We missed no chance to harp on Modi’s RSS background. Time and again we raked up the 2002 violence in Gujarat. We pooh-poohed the ‘clean chit’ the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team and a lower court in Ahmedabad had given Modi. We picked gaping holes in his much-vaunted development model. And when this was not enough to corner BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, we latched on to the intolerance card. On all these counts, we came a cropper.

Congress suffered its second-worst rout in history. The decline in the Left parties continued remorsely. Caste-based formations that wore secularism on their sleeves did no better. On the other hand, BJP got what it wanted: a consecutive 272+ outcome. No non-Congress party had secured successive majorities on its own since the first general elections in 1952. Add to this the seats gained by BJP’s pre-poll allies. That has placed NDA in an invincible position once again.

So why did we lose the plot? The plain answer is that we misread the nation’s mood yet again. We didn’t gauge the depth and sweep of the popularity of Narendra Modi and the real delivery of so many popular welfare schemes. The dread possibility of ‘communal’ forces returning to power, we believed, would override all other concerns of the electorate, including the unproven leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Congress’s mascot. We drew a blank.

An equally miserable failure of ours was to underestimate the spell Modi continues to cast on the electorate. Armed with a hugely expensive media blitz, he led another intensive, spirited campaign built around his personality. He tapped into voters’ aspiration and confidence that India had moved significantly forward and that the future will be even brighter.  He also tapped into voters’ yearning for a leader endowed with the will and aptitude to bring prosperity to the people, ensure clean and effective governance, provide security and instil national pride in citizens.

We made light of all this. The Modi wave of 2014 was a black-swan event, we argued, and the handiwork of media that had been bought over by India Inc. Poll results showed how hopelessly we were off the mark: education, jobs, sound civic services and good governance mattered more to voters than narratives of victimhood replete with populist promises.

We still try to comfort ourselves with the thought that over six out of 10 voters didn’t cast their lot with BJP. Comfort can’t get colder than this. What we need is to acknowledge the flaws in our idea of secularism. Correctly or otherwise, it has been perceived as a hostile attitude to even the most uplifting traditions of India’s myriad religious and spiritual traditions. And, by that token, it has been equated with an indulgent attitude to Muslim extremism. A course correction is in order.

We also need to renounce our animus against economic reforms and modernisation of our armed forces. At the same time, we must not lower our vigil to ensure that casteist, communal, sexist, hyper-nationalist and regional chauvinist forces of all shades do not threaten the fundamental rights of citizens. These rights are the foundation on which rests the edifice of our Republic. And we remain its steadfast sentinels.

‘Unquote’

Actually, this is not an article written in May 2019, but in May 2014. It was authored by the late Dileep Padgaonkar.

All that I did was to do some small changes to make it look like an article written in May 2019. The essential message of the May 2014 article has been kept intact.   So little has changed in the mindset of the Khan Market Gang (KMG).

In May 2014, Padgaonkar had asked for introspection by the members of the Gang so that an honest appraisal is made for their failure. Instead, the Gang members indulged in all sorts of chicanery and tried to create a false narrative with an intention of demonising the NDA government in general, and Narendra Modi in particular.

The manner in which the KMG went about its task of trying to keep its relevance post-2014 has been quite succinctly set out by Surjit Bhalla in his article in The Indian Express (June 17, 2017) where he wrote:

“The Indian people are asking more questions and demanding greater accountability from dynastic political leaders. But the old elite — politicians, corporates, left-intellectuals, academics — cannot be expected to give up their privileges so easily. They will try to derail the transformation and object at every turn: If that means fake analysis, they will do so. If that means intellectual gymnastics, they will do so. The key point is that they must do so.”

What Bhalla calls ‘old elite’ is the same as KMG, and fake analysis and intellectual gymnastics are a polite way to say that they were telling lies. These lies were in the form of taking isolated incidences and project them in a way that the NDA government of the day was responsible and in particular Modi himself personally. The strategy is best stated by Anand Ranganathan in his following tweet dated January 2019:

These vipers added few more fake narratives to the above list during the time of the campaign and each of them failed due to the push back by the people of India:

Balakot distortion. FAILED
Signature campaign. FAILED
EVMs are hacked. FAILED

Clearly, there really was no intention to do an honest introspection, as suggested by Padgaonkar, because the Gang knew that the result would be that they would have to stop writhing in the sand and crawl back into the woodworks. (All metaphorically.)  For the society, this would be a very happy state of affairs since it would pave the way for a sane discussion to take place leading to enduring solutions to the problems that India is confronted with.

At the time when Padgoankar wrote his article in May 2014, I wrote a response which is available here: The parable of Emperor has new clothes, with an Indian twist.

I looked at one of the Hans Anderson’s fables, where a couple of swindlers in the form of weavers fooled an emperor into parting large sums of money for his passion, bordering on the vanity, for clothes.  The swindlers told the emperor that they can weave a cloth which only the wise and the competent can see.  Apart from being an owner of this ‘magical’ cloth, the emperor thought he could also weed out the fools and the incompetent from his court.  It took a little innocent boy to announce that actually, the emperor has no clothes.

The Khan Market Gang was weaving a false narrative that they grandly called Idea of India. No member of the Gang dared to question the Idea because they would then be termed as fools and incompetent and banished from the Khan Market.  The voice people at large was suppressed by the members of the Gang, till the arrival of the internet and Social Media.  Slowly a momentum was being built up against the Gang members, which the doyens of the KMG were blissfully unaware of since their reference points were the thoughts of an incestuous group which had not only become disconnected from the society but also seriously incompetent.

And like the swindlers in the Anderson fable, the members of the KMG extracted money from the society because they posted themselves in various public and private posts, giving themselves grand titles to indicate that they are intellectuals.  This money was more than enough to maintain a lifestyle which only the generation after next of the people at large could aspire for.

India is headed in a positive direction forward which will unleash the inherent energy of the ancient civilisation. The members of the KMG can decide to be a part of this movement, or continue to oppose it as they have been doing for the last five years – through ‘fake analysis and intellectual gymnastics’. They will only slow down the momentum, but not stop it. In the process, they will be subjected to a lot of verbal abuse by the people at large.  They will use this abuse to project that they are being victimised.  But their sad story will no longer be accepted.

Kanhaiya Kumar ‘visits’ SKMCH with over 100 of his supporters barging in while hospital grapples with increasing AES deaths

Despite the deteriorating conditions in the hospitals in Muzaffarpur where the death toll due to the outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome has reached 170, political leaders, showing complete disregard to the solemness of the situation, and the pressure on the hospital administration, are continuing with their token visits to the hospitals.

CPI leader, Kanhaiya Kumar had visited the hospital today, with over 100 supporters, reports Republic TV. Some media reports say that he was even welcomed by his supporters with garlands.

When confronted as to why was he showing such a show of strength even when children are dying, Kanhaiya Kumar first tried to evade the question but later said, “Mai akele aaya hun. Mai kisi ke saath nahi aaya. Ye hospital hai, yaha prarthana kijiye, koi bat mat kijiye” (I have come alone, I have not come with supporters. This is a hospital and therefore pray here, don’t talk)

The CPI leader’s visit along with more than 100 supporters, allegedly created a ruckus in the already deteriorated condition of the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital. Irked by Kanhaiya Kumar’ insensitivity, relatives and health workers outside the hospital started protesting against him.

The protestors claimed that Kumar had such a huge trail of people along with him that even sweepers and other hospital staffs were finding it difficult to do their work smoothly.

However, the sedition accused, Kanhaiya Kumar was not the only leader who has made such namesake visits to the hospitals, which have been grappling to deal with the outbreak of AES.

Ironically, merely a day after the Superintendent of Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Sunil Kumar Shahi, urged the political parties to go to villages to spread awareness instead of visiting the hospitals and hampering the work of healthcare staff, the SKMCH sealed its gates for VVIP passage.

Shahi had stated that the politicians’ visits to the hospital were not needed and instead of visiting with their party supporters and officials and overcrowding the hospital space, they should work to spread awareness about the visit.

The gates of the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, probably due to political pressure, was shut from the morning on June 20 and patients were not allowed inside the hospital. This was done to provide VVIP treatment to LJD leader Sharad Yadav who came to visit the patients in the hospital by unsealing the gate for him and then sealing it again.

Patients alleged that the token visit of Sharad Yadav is unnecessary as the facilities in the hospital are disastrous. Speaking to Republic TV, a patient alleged that the doctors have threatened that if they talk to media their children will be thrown out of the hospital. The agitated protestors also exposed the insensitivity of the authorities.

The state government has also appeared to be unfazed about the increasing number of cases and subsequent death due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome(AES).

In a shocking display of apathy towards the rising distress over the deaths due to the outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Bihar, its Health minister, Mangal Pandey was caught on camera on June 17 being more concerned about the India-Pakistan match rather than the deteriorating situation in the state.

Earlier, two journalists, Anjana Om Kashyap and TV9 Bharatvasrsh’s Ajit Anjum had also faced criticism for barging into the ICU of the hospital while doctors worked to treat the children.

The Bihar government is facing widespread criticism for its lack of management and inability to control the epidemic. Earlier today, another case of sheer insensitivity was brought to the fore when skeletal remains of several unclaimed dead bodies from post mortem department were found dumped behind the hospital premises.

World Cup Match Preview, New Zealand v West Indies: Last chance for the Caribbeans

West Indies is in a situation where they have to win every game and hope other top teams to lose their games to have a chance in reaching the semis.

New Zealand is undoubtedly at a better position, winning 4 out of 5 games with one washout, sure to reach the semis.

West Indies need to apply brains before they go out to bowl or bat in this game. They have lost matches from winning positions too often in this World Cup, and they are themselves to be blamed for such a casual approach. They should bowl bat first and score at least 275 to test the Kiwis batting line up which crumbled in chasing small targets (though they won all).

The Kiwis would be looking for another win to grab the number one spot in the points table. The kind of calmness Kane showed in the last game shows how much they are serious about winning every game of the tournament. The bowlers need to be tight in line and length against the West Indian batting line up which always looks for width and short ball to score runs.

The West Indies team smashed 421 runs against New Zealand in the warm-up of the current tournament.

The weather looks fine at Old Trafford, warm and sunny with light wind to be expected.

Players to watch out

Chris Gayle has not performed at all in this World Cup. West Indies think tank and fans expected him to score runs just like he did against England in the home series before IPL. If he scores big or even gives a solid start, then West Indies will have a chance to win the match.

Kane Williamson has been in great form in the tournament. His last innings against South Africa is one of the best innings played by a Kiwi player in the World Cup tournament. He would love to continue his form, and the kind of attack West Indies has, it shouldn’t be a problem.
