ED moves Delhi high court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Robert Vadra

The Enforcement Directorate has approached the Delhi High Court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Robert Vadra. ED is investigating the brother in law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in money laundering case and requesting his custodial interrogation.

On April 1, a special CBI court had granted anticipatory bail to Robert Vadra in the money laundering case. They had applied for anticipatory bail after ED had sought custodial interrogation of Vadra stating that there was a risk of the investigation getting tampered. Vadra’s close associate Manoj Arora was also granted anticipatory bail on the same day.

Vadra was earlier on interim bail granted by Patiala House Court in Delhi, which was extended several times.

Vadra is being proved in several cases by investigating agencies, which includes money laundering and illegal land deal cases. According to ED, the money laundering case involves payment of Rs 300 crore in a defence deal and USD 10 million received in a petroleum deal. A 1.9 million GBP London based property owned by Vadra is also a subject of the probe.

Earlier ED had questioned Robert Vadra in its office, but ED had alleged that he was not cooperating in the investigation and said that his custodial interrogation is required. ED ha said in the court that “Robert Vadra is not cooperating despite several opportunities and his custodial interrogation is required.” The agency had also said that Vadra had started political mudslinging, saying “It is unfortunate that the petitioner has got involved in political mudslinging. His conduct during the course of investigation raises even more apprehensions that he is a key to unearthing the modus operandi and black money.”

‘Chup Chaap Kamal Chhaap’: The slogan that changed Bengal politics forever

The verdict is out and Prime Minister Modi led BJP is set to form the government with a thumping single-party majority. BJP managed to bag a whopping 303 seats all on its own, making the need for alliances redundant. This brute majority sees BJP better its 2014 score and a major role in this thumping victory has been played by West Bengal which is currently ruled by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.

West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha constituencies. Of those, TMC managed to bag 22 seats while BJP won 18 and Congress managed to win 2. While on the face of it, it would certainly seem like TMC has held on to its bastion, BJP winning a massive 18 is no mean feat. With a brute majority of 213 out of 295 Assembly seats, in 2014 General Elections, out of 42 seats, TMC bagged a whopping 34 seats while BJP bagged only 2.

West Bengal has traditionally been a communist bastion which shifted en masse to TMC in the hope of a better future. Unfortunately, what the state got was communism gift wrapped by TMC with a sheet of renewed, more severe violence and intimidation.

The promise of ‘Maa, Maati, Maanush’ was lost. Mothers were made to drink urine and their sons thrashed simply for praising the Prime Minister in a Facebook post. The maati, earth, was soaked with blood often and the maanush were lost in a sea of illegal immigration. In all, the Bengali mostly felt like motherless children.

Often, several Bengali Hindus spoke up and demanded change. But that change was also demanded in hushed conversations. The fear of their rebel against TMC being known shuddered their soul. Nobody wanted a broken house, bashed up children, the fear of goons hitting out at your workplace, or worse, the state government using the police machinery to throw you in jail.

The fear that Bengal lives through could be unfathomable to ones who live in other parts of the country. But it was real and palpable.

With BJP, the saffron party getting 18 seats in 2019, many in Bengal are shell-shocked. For every voter that went and reposed their faith in the Lotus, it was a personal rebellion, one they weren’t sure others would partake in.

How did the BJP manage to craft this victory? One that not even the people of Bengal saw coming? The voters led a personal rebellion on an organic level. None of them anticipated this Tsunami and none of them really believed that others felt the same way.

One slogan that became extremely popular in West Bengal in the run-up to 2019 Lok Sabha elections was ‘chup chaap kamal chhaap’ (silently, press the Lotus button). Essentially, BJP and volunteers told Bengalis (and I include the Marwari, Gujarati, Sikh community of Bengal in this) that they don’t need to risk their well-being by declaring how their allegiance has shifted from TMC to BJP, but just go vote for BJP.

It was a silent bond of trust that BJP managed to build with Bengal. ‘We understand you are scared, we will help you through this’, the slogan essentially said.

When OpIndia spoke to a volunteer from West Bengal, he said, on the condition of anonymity that for a large part of Bengal, the feeling was that BJP did not understand their plight, with this slogan, they began to trust the party.

There were numerous anecdotes about how some brave citizens started chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ on the street when convoys of TMC leaders passed. This came from a few brave quarters who had had enough of the tyranny.

While Bengal is the land of Maa Durga and Maa Saraswati, ‘Jai Shree Ram’ soon became a symbol of political protest.

One recalls how Mamata Banerjee got riled up when some youth yelled ‘Jai Shree Ram’ as her convoy passed. She got out of the car, threatened them, and claimed that they abused him.

TMC knew that their regionalism on television channels was not helping. They knew that their assertions that Lord Ram will not find resonance in Bengal were hogwash. More than religiosity, it was the political rebellion that Jai Shri Ram symbolised.

Bengal has traditionally shifted its political allegiance after several years of silent tolerance. It happened with the Communists. They lost the faith of the people and the people of Bengal never looked back. It seems to be happening with TMC now as well.

Whether this victory will translate into a sweep in the 2021 Assembly elections is yet to be seen. Perhaps BJP would need to develop a greater grassroots connect and certainly, find dynamic local leaders who find resonance with the local population.

However, a political revolution has begun. Bengal is ready to move as far away from communism (yes, even TMC’s brand of it) as possible. Bengal yearns for change. It took a step in that direction in this general election. Now it is up to BJP to live up to the faith Bengal has reposed in it.

Smriti… who? Smriti, the one who gave your brother a run for his money

During the run-up to the 2014 general elections, when BJP in a very bold move fielded Smriti Irani against the then Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, she was dismissed by many as a ‘scapegoat’. For taking the fall for the party which just wanted to make a statement by fielding someone against the Gandhi scion who was sure to retain his ‘family seat’.

Except for a brief period between 1998-99 when BJP’s Sanjay Sinh won Amethi, the Lok Sabha seat has seen a Congress MP since 1980 when Sanjay Gandhi won it for the first time. After his death, his brother Rajiv Gandhi contested and won from Amethi four times. Afte his death, Congress’ Satish Sharma contested and won Amethi twice. In 1999, Sonia Gandhi won it back and held on to it till 2004. In 2004, Rahul Gandhi forayed into politics by contesting from Amethi. He had been a three-time MP from Amethi.

During the run-up to the 2014 general elections, Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was not holding any official post in Congress till then, was campaigning for her brother in Amethi. When she was asked about her reaction to something Smriti had commented on her, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit back with an arrogant ‘Who?’

Back in 2014, Priyanka’s arrogance refused to acknowledge Smriti as a contender against her brother.

Dear Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, let me tell you who Smriti Irani.

The one who lost Amethi to your brother in 2014 but managed to bring down the victory margin to little over a lakh. The one who spent last five years strengthening her constituency, ensuring the people she expects to vote her have a reason to do so. Residents of Amethi have credited Irani, the one who lost the seat to your brother, for developmental works undertaken.

Citing Soil lab, urea racks, Reservation counter, Sainik School etc, they say all this has been possible because of Smriti Irani’s commitment to the city. Smriti Irani is also credited for Utretia to Varanasi rail electrification via Amethi, linking Amethi-Rae Bareli to NH and WiFI for devotees at Kalikan Dham.

Smriti who empowered women by providing them with security insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Mahila Suraksha Bima Yojana. Who got a girls’ college in Sangrampur block of Amethi and got approval from state government for women’s hospital in Jamo block.

Who got a record number of toilets and houses built in Amethi, providing the people with the dignity. The basic amenity your brother failed to provide over 70 years after India’s independence. Let that sink in.

Smriti who made your brother run away to Wayanad to a ‘safe seat’ because he got a whiff that he will not be able to hold on to the family bastion for another five years as a ‘missing MP’.

The one who made Amethi ready for a BJP win in the five years. And the one who dethroned your brother.

That Smriti.

Wanted terrorist Zakir Musa killed in encounter with security forces, protests and clashes erupt in Kashmir valley

In an exchange of fire that broke out between the security forces and terrorists at Dadsar village in Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, wanted terrorist Zakir Musa has reportedly been killed.

Musa, who was the Chief of the terrorist group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a cell of terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda, was reportedly trapped in the encounter in Tral. The area of Dadsara village was cordoned off by a joint team of the Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and the CRPF late in the evening. There were inputs regarding the presence of the terrorist commander Musa in the region. According to the information given by a police officer, the area was cordoned off following these inputs.

A police officer said that the terrorist was given an opportunity to surrender by the joint team but he opened fire at the security forces. This led to a gunfight which resulted in his encounter. Internet services have reportedly been suspended in most parts of South Kashmir and are reported to be suspended in the entire valley soon. All the educational institutions will reportedly remain shut in the valley tomorrow as per government directions to avoid possible law and order crisis.

According to local sources, protests have erupted in several places in the valley over the killing of Musa. Clashes also erupted in Sopore and other places. Reportedly thousands of people are visiting the native village of Musa to attend his funeral.

BJP’s Kolkata Dakshin candidate alleges more votes counted than actually polled, ECI revises numbers citing human error

The BJP has exceeded expectations in West Bengal with its performance in Lok Sabha elections. So far, the party is leading in 18 seats against 23 seats of the Trinamool Congress. There was widespread rigging during the elections by the Trinamool which was observed by various journalists. Now, BJP candidate from Kolkata Dakshin, Chandra Kumar Bose, has alleged that there has been a discrepancy in the aftermath of the elections as well.

Bose claims that more votes have been counted in the constituency than were actually cast. As per the official app of the Election Commission of India, a voter turn-out of 69.65% was recorded in the constituency. As per Bose, it translates to around to 11.97 lakh votes among 1719821 registered voters. However, the actual votes that were counted as showing in the ECI results website was 1490235, which translates to an 87% voter turnout.

Bose has approached the Election Commission and registered a complaint regarding the matter. Amusingly enough at 5.40, the total votes counted was adjusted on the Election Commission website and by some magic, around 3 lakh votes disappeared into thin air. But the final number of votes counted is still greater than the number that was polled according to official stats by the ECI.

Kolkata Dakshin election result

The Election Commission, for its part, has claimed that it was human error on its part and that someone updated the website with the wrong numbers, ABP Ananda reported. It may be noted that ECI is yet to release the final voter turnout numbers for the seventh phase, which includes Kolkata South. Therefore it is possible that actual turnout numbers may have gone up. However, considering the events in West Bengal since polling began, it’s understandable why many people including the BJP candidate find it hard to believe.

Prakash Raj concedes defeat after dismal performance in elections, says a ‘Solid Slap’ on my face

Actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj, who entered the election fray to change the brand of politics has been shown his place as he managed to get paltry 28,000 odd votes in a constituency where total votes polled was almost 12 lakhs. Raj, who was hailed as a revolutionary crusader by the Lutyens Media took to Twitter to concede his embarrassing defeat from Bangalore Central.

In a tweet posted by him, Raj acknowledges the mortifying defeat handed to him by the votaries of his constituency. The Wanted actor stated that it is a “SOLD SLAP” on his face and more abusing, trolling and humiliation is on its way directed at him. However, as a face-saving move, he claimed that he would continue his fight for ‘Secular India’ and this has just been a start to a tough journey.

Anuraag Saxena tweeted saying that Prakash Raj couldn’t honour people’s verdict who rejected his brand of politics and embraced PM Modi and the BJP.

Prakash Raj’s tweet also tickled funny bones for many on Twitter. In a hilariously contemptuous manner, one Twitter user creatively portrayed how Raj was mauled in the Lok Sabha elections.

Another Twitter user highlighted the pathological hatred Raj harbours for PM Modi and asked him to get rid of it.

One Twitter user responded Prakash Raj with a meme from his move Singham in which he accuses the protagonist of playing foul.

Till exit polls, Prakash Raj was propped up by Lutyens as if he is going to go straight to being one of the top 89 PM candidates of Mahagathbandhan but he has managed to finally poll 2.36% votes and stood a distant 3rd in Bangalore central Constituency after BJP’s PC Mohan and Congress’ Rizwan Ahmed.

6 instances when Indian media got it horribly wrong and predicted a Modi loss in 2019

Some media houses in our country have a dubious distinction of prognosticating fallacious outcomes. Especially, when it’s related to their bete noire Prime Minister Narendra Modi, propaganda often takes precedence over rationality. Ever since Modi was declared as PM candidate ahead of 2014 General elections, attempts were made to undermine his candidature and scuttle his chances of becoming the PM. Nevertheless, he won the elections with a landslide victory.

However, the media outlets having an ill-disposition against him didn’t relent at this. While senselessly excoriating PM Modi has been the hobbyhorse for many Indian media outlets, for some the hatred for the man was so intense that obituaries were written for the Modi government as early as 2017.

The Exit Polls results have come as a rude shock to everyone who was hoping the public might have been disenchanted with Modi and BJP and would vote him out of power. Most exit polls suggested a trend that BJP is all set to come back for the second consecutive term and the NDA would comfortably cross the 300-seats mark.

As the election results are pouring in, it is legitimizing the predictions made by the exit polls. With the results overwhelmingly favouring the BJP, Modi is set to take oath as the country’s Prime Minister. At this juncture, let us have a look at the instances when PM Modi was written off by his detractors, only to be proven wrong.

1. Newslaundry published an article stating 11 reasons why PM Modi may lose the 2019 General elections

The article published on Newslaundry in April 2018 lists down 11 reasons why PM Modi may lose 2019 elections. It stated that the growing discontent among the NDA alliance partners, consolidation of regional rivals, the rise of regionalism, aggressive anti-BJP stance by the regional rulers, joblessness and agrarian distress, social disharmony and Dalit-Muslim-Tribal bonhomie, hollow anti-corruption plank, failure of foreign policy and border skirmishes, charges of crony capitalism and NPAs, internal challenges faced by the BJP and the rise of Congress are reasons why PM Modi might lose the elections.

2. Yogendra Yadav penned an article in the Print asserting that 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be a replica of 2004 General elections

In 2004 General elections, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was widely expected to comfortably win the elections but he lost the elections to the UPA coalition. In his article, eminent psephologist who has a dubious distinction of getting his predictions wrong contended that despite Modi’s popularity ratings high, he might in for a setback in 2019 General elections. In an attempt to undermine the undercurrents favouring PM Modi’s return, Yadav blathered about Type-1 and Type-2 errors committed by the pollsters in predicting an outcome.

Type-1 error is a type of error that gets the winner right but underestimates the extent of his/her victory. Type-2 error is where one gets the victor wrong or predicts a big sweep that fails to happen. Yadav then goes on to draw a similarity between the 2004 elections and the 2019 elections and asserts how the Type-2 error had led to pollsters playing safe in estimating the loss of seats for the BJP. Based on this phenomenon, Yadav suggested to “mentally chop-off” 30-50 seats from the BJP tally as suggested by the polls.

3. Another article published in the Print suggested that Modi’s return as PM in 2019 is uncertain

The article discussed various scenarios based on the number of seats won by the two principal national parties- BJP and Congress. The author asserted that PM Modi’s return is unlikely as the BJP will have to win more than 230 seats on its own to have Modi as PM once again. According to him, If BJP’s tally dip below 230, all regional coalition partners in the NDA will pressurise the BJP to choose a slightly amenable PM candidate in order to gain more control over the ministries.

In a scenario where BJP gets less than 200 seats and Congress leads the coalition of regional parties, the article stated that Rahul Gandhi will be the Prime Minister of the Country. In an event that none of the two National parties has a sizeable majority to stake a claim at the centre with their alliance partners, then anybody can be the PM with the outside support from Congress or BJP.

The article said that it is a “foregone conclusion” who the next Prime Minister will be, emphatically stating that the people of the country will vote anyone to power but Modi.

4. Amidst the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, Scroll published a speculative piece on the consequences of PM Modi’s defeat

Amidst the Lok Sabha elections and just two days before the last phase of the elections the Scroll, known for its hostile reports against the BJP government had come up with an article conjecturing what would happen if PM Modi loses the Lok Sabha polls. The article proceeded to demolish the possibility of a catastrophe should Modi loses the elections.

Disparaging the Modi government, the article ventured into contending that the apprehensions raised of a likely turmoil in the Financial Markets, the stagnation of the Economy and the vicissitudes accompanying an unstable coalition government are all unfounded and the country will only perform better than it did in the last 5 years. It also asserted that the Modi’s defeat would mean that the purported Mob lynching culture that has been allegedly promoted by the current government will be done away with and heads will roll which would lead to Yogi Adityanath’s ouster as CM of the Uttar Pradesh in 2022.

5. Deccan Herald argued that 2019 is Narendra Modi’s ‘India Shining’ moment

Likening the 2019 General Lok Sabha elections to 2004 elections, Deccan Herald contended that PM Modi, who is seeking a second term in 2019 might end up meeting the same fate as Atal Bihari Vajpayee did in 2004. In 2004, the ‘India Shining’ campaign was run by the BJP on the hills of a triumphant Vidhan Sabha elections in 3 states. Vajpayee called the elections six months prior to the slated dates but lost the elections to Congress-led UPA coalition, despite the opinion polls and exit polls forecasting an absolute majority to the Vajpayee government.

On similar lines, the article argued that Narendra Modi might also lose the elections as the opposition leaders, especially Rahul Gandhi has been instrumental in highlighting the problems faced by the country in the last 5 years. The author even went on to predict that Rahul Gandhi might upend Narendra Modi’s election bid to become Prime Minister just like Ronald Reagan did to Jimmy Carter in 1979 in the United States’ politics.

6. The Wire predicted that a Mayawati-led Centre is why people are voting against PM Modi

It is a political dictum that India’s PM comes through its most populous state Uttar Pradesh. Defeat someone in the Uttar Pradesh and his chances get remarkably diminished to stake a claim at the Prime Ministerial position. The Wire in its article asserted that there ain’t an ‘Undercurrent’ but an “Earthquake’, fuelled by disappointment and sadness, waiting for the BJP in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It also postulated that the vote against PM Modi is actually a vote for Mayawati-led coalition government at the centre.

In 2014 the BJP had won 73 seats out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. It is predicted in the article that the BJP will be reduced to 15-20 seats in the state, while the SP-BSP-RLSP coalition would bag 40-55 seats. The author disregarded PM Modi’s popularity in the state claiming that even his once ardent supporters, women, are seething in rage against Modi’s “well marketed but poorly implemented” schemes and are likely to vote against him.  In another article by the Wire, the media outlet floated a theory that Modi would be curtailed by the opposition party as BJP is poised to lose 75 seats in the Hindi heartland.

The liberal intelligentsia took great efforts in belittling PM Modi but braving all odds, he scripted a magnificent victory. As PM Modi appears in a formidable position to return back to power, all the contrived scenarios and the figment of imagination purveyed by the media outlets are decidedly put to rest. It is a sobering realisation for those media outlets who underestimated PM Modi and overestimated the botched up ‘Mahamilavat’ coalition he was up against.

Contrary to the predictions made by the news outlets of a possible anti-Modi government at the centre, the election results reinforced an unprecedented Modi Tsunami that conclusively dealt a body blow to the credibility of those media outlets who shunned the facts to further their propaganda. The strong and convincing verdict to PM Modi reaffirms people’s faith in his leadership of the world’s largest democracy.

Yes, EVMs were hacked, by the people who chose nationalism over casteism, and development over divide

Today, as the nation is glued to its television screens from early morning, waiting with bated breath for the results to unfold, we are expecting a barrage of lame duck excuses ranging from ‘EVM hacking’ to come our way. The counting is on and it is ‘Lagbhag’ certain that PM Narendra Modi will make a comeback for the second consecutive term.

The Janta, in general, is in a celebratory mood, but the opposition had already set the pitch rolling to dump the blame of their defeat on the EVMs. Ever since the exit polls predicted a clear mandate for the BJP, the whining about EVM hacking started. Today, as it stages a comes back as the single largest party, lies peddled by the opposition including Congress stand busted.

In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the nation witnessed unprecedented hate, below-the-belt attacks, and accusations levelled at the man who occupied the centre stage amidst all this chaos and cacophony.

Despite a clean chit from the court in 2002 Gujrat riots, Modi was referred to as a ‘mass murderer‘ by the elitist activists. They continued to play the politics of hate on him, all the while accusing him of resorting to hate-tactics. It is a known fact that he was hounded for years by the left-leaning Lutyens media even though one of their own recently confessed that Modi had no role to play in the riots, which he was accused of fanning.

The opposition mocked his humbled background and called him a Chaiwala, Neech and even brought his family into their slandering.

They questioned his integrity and cooked up an imaginary scam in the Rafael deal. To dent his reputation, they went a step further and coined the phrase ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai,’ which backfired and snowballed into a pan-India ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign.

During election rallies and otherwise, they gave fancy soundbites to the media invoking his mother and wife, accusing him of abandoning his family for political gains. They abused him and his family in a hope to gather votes in his name.

They accused him of riding politics on communal lines because he wore his religion with pride on his sleeves, in his personal capacity. All this by conveniently brushing aside their own style of ‘appeasement‘ politics under the carpet.

The opposition accused him of dividing people into religious and hate lines. International magazine Time even carried the cover story titled ‘India’s Divider in Chief‘ on him while the elections were ongoing. The agenda based story reeked of bias and Hinduphobia.

If Modi harboured such hate for the Muslim community, as propagated by the opposition, why would he table Triple Talaq Bill to empower the women from this community? Ironically, the ones peddling these lies at the highest decibel levels are the ones who stand against it and promised to scrap it if voted back to power. Honestly, it makes me wonder, how a government that is committed to safeguarding the rights of Muslim women is diving the community on hate lines? Well, it is nothing but fear mongering by spreading lies, by the vested few, who want the country divided for their political brownie points.

The opposition has always pegged their agenda on caste-based politics. The idea has been to divide the people into caste lines to garner votes. However, this time around, the people seem to have walked over such falsehoods and voted for a strong government. The rejection of parties that have been thriving on caste polarisation is a clear indication of the trust that voters have invested in keeping nation above caste. It makes us believe that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ is not a mere political slogan! Some of the most notable schemes that have perhaps helped him win a second term include Ayushman Bharat, rural electrification, Ujjwala Yogna, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana, Digital India, Make in India and GST.

The opposition’s promises of freebies, lies and fake promises were called out as quick as they were floated. These tricks don’t appear to entice the voters anymore. Having realized the perils of the falsehoods, the voters chose to use their fine sense of judgment and not get bogged down by bogus schemes. Shrouded in doubts, even the NYAY scheme, which promised a minimum income scheme for poor amounting to 72,000 per annum failed to attract the interest of the voters.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi had excitedly announced the scheme but failed to clarify how he would manage to disburse this amount. The scheme that was pegged to create a ‘revolution’ in the history of Indian politics, turned out to be a disaster and fizzed out sooner than expected!

The leadership of PM Modi to deal with national and international issues is what makes this thumping majority a reality. Modi has consolidated every Indian who wishes to participate in the nation-building process. In him, the countrymen have found a desi leader of global relevance and stature.

His journey from the Chief Minister of Gujrat to India’s Prime Minister has not been easy. However, his perseverance to serve the country with all his might makes it look easy.

He was constantly scrutinized and judged for his performance as the PM while his supporters and detractors looked on. Irrespective of the opinions that his haters hold for him, he is all set to occupy the PM chair another time.

Blaming the EVMs has been the opposition’s modus operandi but what they fail to see through the dark lenses is that PM Modi is loved by India’s people. It’s not Modi who has hacked the EVMs but the public that trusts its beloved leader in shaping their dream of a stronger India. PM Modi has unified a country that has finally risen above the social and regional divides.

In the nutshell, it is the Janta that has hacked the EVMs. The people of India have hacked the election by choosing development over divides, and nationalism over casteism.

Modi Shining, Rahul a loser.. it’s not 2004, but 2014 again

Prime Minister Modi is set to win and is set to win big. According to trends so far, BJP is set to clock a larger victory than in 2014. Till last night, despite the Exit Polls giving a massive victory to BJP, several supporters of the party were fearful that 2019 could be a repeat for the dreadful 2004 where Exit Polls had predicted a massive victory for Atal Bihari Vajpayee but in an emotional twist of events, Vajpayee lost. As things stand now, 2019 seems to be a repeat of 2014 and Rahul Gandhi, continues to be a loser.

Just recently, Rahul Gandhi had revealed that his true intention was to dent PM Modi’s ‘incorruptible’ image. Speaking to several media houses, Rahul Gandhi said that he had succeeded in dismantling the clean image that PM Modi had. It was clear then that Rahul Gandhi was basing his campaign not on what he could offer to the people of India, but just the opposition’s unbridled hatred for Modi. The ‘chowkidaar chor hai’ campaign was evidence of the kind of venom that Rahul Gandhi harboured. It was hardly surprising considering it was his mother who had first called Modi ‘maut ka saudagar’.

Rahul Gandhi, throughout the campaign, lied and then lied some more. PM Modi was abused mercilessly, vilified, called names and not just by Rahul Gandhi or other politicians, but the entire Congress ecosystem.

In fact, it was not just PM Modi who was vilified. His supporters and in turn, every Hindu of the country was abused and branded. The “liberal” ecosystem thinks of PM Modi as the one politician who has been able to consolidate the Hindu vote and hence, in their mind, Hindus had to be vilified. They tried to brand Hindus are violence, lynching, terrorists just to scare the majority into submission. Sadhvi Pragya, after being tortured and falsely implicated, was once again vilified when BJP fielded her and in turn, Modi was branded as a “saffron terror” apologist.

The international media too jumped in. The Economist, New York Times and assorted rags regurgitated the same bile that is often spewed by Indian “liberals”.

In the end, however, the truth prevailed. The electorate of India, which has matured considerably, pierced through the veil of propaganda and lies to elect a decisive government, seating PM Modi in the Prime Minister’s seat yet again.

Modi has passed through blazing fire and emerged victorious. What we can expect now is the “liberal” ecosystem regrouping after the initial shock wears off to brand the millions who voted for Modi as terrorists. The brand the ones who voted for BJP has Hindu fanatics, fascists and the ones who destroyed democracy. Their rhetoric never changes. It is almost like being stuck in a bad movie that refuses to end.

What remains to be seen is whether the opposition will actually introspect on how horribly they have got India wrong, or would they continue with the same, never-ending cycle of abuse and lies.

World leaders congratulate PM Modi for his stunning victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Leaders across the world are sending congratulatory wishes to PM Modi on his magnificent electoral performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. BJP has already crossed leads on its 2014’s tally of 282 and is currently hovering at 300 seat mark on its own. The NDA alliance on a whole is leading on 350+ seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first world leader to congratulate PM Modi for scripting a spectacular victory in the recently concluded polls and promised to strengthen their ‘great friendship’ as well as bilateral ties between the two countries. Netanyahu asserted that the victory reaffirmed PM Modi’s leadership of the world’s largest democracy.

Another international leader, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe took to Twitter to congratulate his compatriot PM Modi on what seems like an inevitable BJP victory.

Next up was Russian president Vladimir Putin who sent a congratulatory telegram to PM Modi to wish him good wishes on the convincing victory of the BJP at the general parliamentary elections.

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also conveyed his congratulatory wishes to PM Modi for the electoral victory.

Chinese President Xi Jinping too had congratulated PM Modi on winning the 17th Lok Sabha elections. In a letter addressed to Modi, Xi expressed his “heartfelt congratulations” to Modi on his victory.

Xi also mentioned in the letter the significance of PM Modi’s victory in building and sustaining the closer developmental partnership between the two countries and expressed satisfaction on the strong momentum of development gained between the two neighbours in the recent years.
