BJP base forced Sadhvi Pragya to apologize, why doesn’t ‘secular’ voter demand same from ‘secular’ parties?

In less than 24 hours, Sadhvi Pragya, now the BJP candidate from Bhopal, took back her words on Hemant Karkare. The BJP’s core voter simply would not stand for such language against a man who gave his life defending the nation against terrorists. Does it not say something good about the core voter of BJP?

Now, here is the man that Sadhvi Pragya is up against in Bhopal.

A veteran Congress leader, a two-term Chief Minister, releasing a book that asks whether the 26/11 terrorist attack was a conspiracy by the RSS! Could there have been a worse way of undermining India’s stance against Pakistan sponsored terrorism on the global stage? Not surprisingly, Pakistani media took great joy in publicizing this event worldwide, playing it up as “proof” of their innocence.

But Digvijay Singh never apologized for something as terrible as this. What does that tell you?

This article is not about politicians or parties. This post is about people. Politicians do not exist in a vacuum. Politicians cater to their supporters. And different parties have different support bases.

So why did Digvijay Singh never apologize? Simple. Because the Congress Party calculated these remarks would actually be well received by their core voter or at least a huge section of their core voters.

This is hardly an isolated incident and hardly limited to the Congress Party. Everyone remembers how leaders from ‘secular’ parties repeatedly referred to Lashkar terrorist Ishrat Jahan as an “innocent college girl”.

Untitled.png

Another great ‘secular’ leader. The formidable Pawar Saheb is a veteran of politics, a prodigy who became CM of Maharashtra at the age of 37 years. Does anybody really think Pawar Saheb would not understand the consequences of such statements? No, the reason such views were expressed is that ‘secular’ parties understand that it plays well with their core voter.

Or you could take Sushil Shinde, who declared in 2013 that BJP was a terrorist organization. At the time, Shinde was Home Minister of India.

Untitled.png

In 2013, the BJP had over one hundred elected MPs and was ruling several major states. The BJP has been embedded in government at local, state and central levels for decades. India’s Home Minister stating that BJP is a terror outfit is practically like India officially declaring itself a terrorist state. Truly unprecedented in the history of the world.

Another disaster for India’s global stance against terrorism. And Shinde never apologized either.

But it played well with the core voter of secular parties. That’s why they said it. Why else would so many ‘secular’ leaders question the sacrifice of Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma in the Batla House encounter? One of the people who spread lies about Batla House encounter is now the Chief Minister of Delhi!

This is what I have been saying. India’s secular politicians know that their base will reward them for such remarks.

Not only do ‘secular’ politicians know that their base will reward them, they also understand exactly where to make such statements.

Untitled.png

I am only going to make passing references to the small fry : a number of MPs and MLAs from secular parties actually wrote to the President of India requesting mercy for terrorist Yakub Memon who had been sentenced to death for his role in the Mumbai serial blasts that killed over 250 innocent Indians.

Perhaps, even more shockingly of the politicians who spoke in support of Yakub Memon were based in Maharashtra themselves. They weren’t hurting the feelings of their base, they were catering to it.

This is a tweet from last year, from the Congress official handle

Mentioning by name “activist” Vernon Gonsalves who has been convicted and served a jail term in a case related to left-wing terrorism.

By the way, did you know that within weeks of the November-December 2018 state elections, the new Congress government decided to drop murder charges against certain people in Chhattisgarh? Among them, the spouse of a top editor who founded a prominent left-wing website that is deeply wired into the secular propaganda machine.

Sadhvi Pragya had to take back her words because the BJP understood that their core voter would not rally behind any perceived insult to a police officer who died for the nation.

But ‘secular’ parties expect no such backlash from their voters. Rather they expect rewards. Why? Who is this core voter of ‘secular’ parties that would rather give a clean chit to Pakistan and blame 26/11 on the RSS? You tell me.

BSE slams propagandist Kunal Kamra for ‘unauthorised and illegal use of BSE building for nefarious activities’, contemplates legal action

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today pulled up propagandist masquerading as ‘comedian’ Kunal Kamra for ‘unauthorised and illegal use of BSE building for nefarious activities’.

The BSE was referring to a morphed image Kamra had posted on his social media account which had the BSE building with the ticker which displayed the text ‘Don’t Vote For Modi’.

The bourse was not too pleased with Kamra’s ‘sense of humour’ and expressed its disappointment. The BSE even tweeted that they reserve the right to take appropriate legal action against Kamra. Kamra, in his propaganda, has been running a campaign asking his followers not to vote for Modi. In his bid to run an anti-Modi propaganda, Kamra ended up morphing the picture of the stock market, which could have created a wave of panic at the stock market.

Instead of admitting his mistake that he may have crossed his line and ended up giving fodder to those who spread fake news by passing off morphed image as himself Karma thought it was incredibly funny to mock the stock exchange.

In the past, Congress leader Nagma Morarji has been caught spreading a Photoshopped image to peddle anti-Modi agenda. Aam Aadmi Party worker had recently spread a fake message of Prime Minister Modi’s death. Madhya Pradesh Congress’ official Twitter account was caught spreading maliciously cropped satire article as real news. Propagandist and low IQ journalist Pritish Nandy was also caught using an example of fake news to spread fake news.

Azam Khan tells voters that ‘voting for Congress is like eating shit covered with silver foil’

Samajwadi Party (SP ) leader Azam Khan does not seem to mend his ways despite being subjected to a 72-hour ban by the Election Commission for making misogynist remarks against BJP Lok Sabha candidate Jaya Prada.

https://youtu.be/WE9L-wTbgBI?t=137

After resuming his election campaign from Moradabad after ban, Azam Khan told the voters that Congress is not going to win the elections and that it is trying to divide their vote. “You know very well that Congress Party is not winning here. It is trying to divide your vote. If you want to eat shit, eat it directly don’t cover it with silver foil”, he said. The Samajwadi Party leader, using his typical sarcastic tone in Urdu, termed voting for Congress as eating shit covered with silver foil.

Addressing the people in Moradabad constituency where the Congress has fielded Imran Pratapgarhi against SP-BSP-RLD alliance candidate S T Hassan, Khan insinuated that the Muslim voters should vote for Congress candidate. Khan said, “Ye baat har gaddar se keh do use gandagi khana h to sidhe khae chandi ka varak lga kar na khae” (Tell this to every traitor that if they want to eat shit they should eat directly and not cover it with silver foil).

Azam Khan also lashed out at the media and accused them of showing him in bad light. Calling the media as people’s “badtareen dushman” (worst enemies), Khan urged people not to listen to the news . “Inki khabron par mat jana ye tumhare badtareen dushman hain. Inhone 2 din jo zabaan mere liye istemaal ki hai agar mai patthar ka bana hota to mera dil fat jata khoon behar mai mar gya hota“, he said. (Don’t trust their news. They are your worst enemies. Because of the language they used for me for two days, had I not been made of stone my heart would have ruptured and I would have died of bleeding.) He asked people not to waste their time watching television and to stop listening to their community being abused.

Azam Khan was barred by the Election Commission from campaigning for 72 hours for making outrageous and sexist remarks against Jaya Prada.

Desperate times? At loggerheads for decades, Mayawati and Mulayam share stage in UP’s Mainpuri after 25 years

After almost 25 years of political rivalry, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati shared the stage with SP’ patriarch, Mulayam Singh Yadav at a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri on Friday.

In the rally, which was organised to spread a message of bonhomie between both the parties, Mayawati campaigned for Mulayam and asked people to vote for the SP founder in Mainpuri. This time, Mulayam Singh Yadav, instead of contesting from Azamgarh, is contesting from Mainpuri constituency in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

This is the first time the two stalwarts are seen together after 1993. the two parties forged an alliance to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1993. After the BJP wave took over Uttar Pradesh politics after the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, Mulayam and BSP founder Kanshi Ram decided to forge a historic alliance to tackle the resurgent BJP and to keep the saffron party out of power.

The coalition formed the government with Congress’s support from the outside. But the tie-up could not last long. Political rivalry and bickering had followed. Finally, the infamous guesthouse incident, where Mayawati was attacked and by SP goons had ended the alliance.

In June 1995, when BSP had announced taking back its support from the Mulayam government, she was attacked by SP goons inside the Meerabai guesthouse in Lucknow. Reports say that the goons had beaten her up and had torn up her clothes when BJP MLA Bhahmadutt Dwivedi had to risked his life to fight with the goons and rescue Mayawati. Mayawati and Mulayam had been archenemies since then.

On January 12, 2019, SP and BSP once again declared, in a joint press conference done by BSP supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, that they will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections under an alliance. This opportunistic alliance is forged to basically tackle the BJP before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, otherwise, the party insiders also believe that this alliance will not work in both the party’s favor.

In fact, along with other MLA’, SP MLA from Sirsaganj of Firozabad, Hari Om Yadav had raised serious qualms over the coalition between the SP and BSP for the Lok Sabha Elections.

Meanwhile, Mayawati, while campaigning for SP’ patriarch, Mulayam Singh Yadav in the rally in Mainpuri, took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi and called him a ‘fake OBC’. “Isme koi sandeh nahi hai ki inhone (Mulayam) SP ke banner ke tale UP mein sabhi samaj ke logon ko apni party mein joda hai. Ye PM Modi ki tarah nakli veh farzi pichde varg ke nahi hain, Mulayam ji asli hain. janam-jaat pichde varg ke hain, Mayawati said.

Responding to critics who raised questions on BSP-SP alliance, Mayawati, a former Uttar Pradesh CM said, “They want to know why I had entered an alliance despite my past equations with Mulayam Singh Ji and the state guest house episode. But we sometimes have to take such tough decisions, keeping national interests in mind.”

It is, however, no secret that the only thing that has driven SP and BSP together is political desperation. After BJP’s massive sweep of Lok Sabha seats in 2014 and a landslide victory in 2017 assembly elections, both parties have been reduced to their weakest level in a long time.

Meanwhile, the SP-BS-RLD alliance is contesting on all the 80 Lok Sabha seats of the state with SP contesting on 37 seats, BSP on 38 and RLD on three seats. Two seats of Amethi and Rae Bareli were left for the Congress without any pre-poll understanding.

Whether or not the alliance manages to hold on to their caste-based vote banks in the general election remains to be seen as Uttar Pradesh is set to vote in all seven phases. Results will be declared on May 23.

Home Ministry rubbishes claims by Media that it had asked Assam govt to take action against editors opposed to Citizenship bill

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday clarified that it has not asked Assam Government to take any action against Editors of media houses opposing Citizenship Amendment Bill. It termed the allegation as “baseless” and “a mischievous interpretation of the facts”.

Home Ministry said that it received a public grievance petition from “one Vinay Joshi” from Maharashtra about the Bill. The ministry furthered that it routinely receives such petitions and they are forwarded to concerned state governments.

MHA confirmed that Vinay Joshi’s petition has been forwarded to Assam Government and no inquiry has been ordered as claimed by few media reports.

Few leftist media portals had reported that home ministry has sought a probe into four Assamese editors and a news channel based on a complaint by a Hindu right-wing outfit with links to the RSS.

SS of the report published by Leftist portal, The Wire on April 18, 2019

According to these reports, the MHA North East Division letter dated April 16, signed by Under Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and addressed to Ashutosh Agnihotri, Assam Commissioner and Secretary (Home and Political), and Kuladhar Saikia, Director General of Police, asked them to take “necessary action” on the complaint by Vinay Joshi who heads the Maharashtra-based Legal Rights Observatory (LRO). It said, “the applicant may be informed directly”.

But now the Ministry of Home affairs has come out to rubbish the claims made by these leftist media portals.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on 8th January, seeks an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955, to provide citizenship to the persecuted minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, and Christians) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The bill was met with severe opposition from Assam and other political parties of North-east. It was alleged that the bill is against the interests of the people of Assam, as it will allow non-muslims from bordering countries to settle there. They have alleged that bill is in violation of the 1985 Assam Accords.

In Assam, the Congress party and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) stood against the Bill. The TMC, along with the Congress, had staged a walkout during the discussion on the Bill.

PM Modi came down hard on the misinformation on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in a public rally in Amingaon, Assam on February 10th and prior to this had urged support for the Citizenship Amendment Bill to provide persecuted minorities with a dignified life in India.

Here is what RVS Mani, bureaucrat of Congress era, has to say about Hemant Karkare and his involvement in ‘Saffron terror’ narrative

Sadhvi Pragya, the sannyasin who was jailed, tortured and hounded by the Congress government in order to concoct a fallacious theory of ‘saffron terror’ has formally joined BJP and is all set to contest from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh against Digvijay Singh, who was one of the foremost proponents of the saffron terror theory.

While Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature and her foray into politics ruffled some feathers and the “neutral” commentators came out of the woodworks to rain hate on her, it comes as no surprise that if anyone would be blunt about the Congress dispensation and how they concocted the saffron terror theory and their partners in crime in this misadventure, it would be Sadhvi Pragya.

Sadhvi Pragya blamed Hemant Karkare, the officer who was killed during the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack of colluding to further the saffron terror narrative and keeping her falsely and illegally imprisoned. She said that when Karkare was told by someone in the investigative agency that Sadhvi should not be held without proof and that her detention is illegal, he said that he will get proof from somewhere, even if he has to create it, to keep her in jail. She also said that Karkare had been killed because she had cursed him.

The outrage on Sadhvi Pragya’s statement from the usual elements in the media was shrill.

However, beyond the “liberal” self-serving outrage, one needs to evaluate what has been alleged against Karkare. For that, we can rely on the account of an insider. RVS Mani is a former bureaucrat who worked as an undersecretary in the Home Ministry during the Congress era. In his book ‘Hindu Terror’, Mani has illustrated and explained the entire collusion and the players who colluded to create the ‘saffron terror’ narrative and how, senior Congress leaders and several others were involved in the conspiracy.

With reference to Hemant Karkare too, RVS Mani makes some startling revelations in his book.

RVS Mani describes his first encounter with Hemant Karkare in his book ‘Hindu Terror’.

RVS Mani talks about his meeting with Hemant Karkare after the 2006 bomb blast at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. He said he was working in Internal Security at the time and he was summoned by the Home Minister, Shivraj Patil. When he was ushered in, he saw Digvijay Singh in Shivraj Patil’s chamber and Hemant Karkare. He writes that Hemant Karkare and Digvijay Singh were interrogating him while Shivraj Patil watched unconcerned. They asked him several questions about the blast and RVS Mani writes that Hemant Karkare and Digvijay Singh were “not too happy with RVS Mani’s information that a ‘particular religious group’ was involved in most of the terror attacks.

He writes that from the conversation in the room, they were not happy that according to intelligence inputs, Muslims were aiding terrorists. He says that there were repeated references to Nanded, Bajrang Dal etc in their conversations.

He further talks about Nanded blast and says that this was the first case in which ‘Hindu terror’ term was first used.

RVS Mani raises several questions on why Digvijay Singh and Hemant Karkare were as close as Singh had claimed.

RVS Mani writes, “It may be interesting to recall that Digvijay Singh had later claimed in a media report that he was in personal touch with the police officer who was in the room of the Union Home Minister along with him at that time and obtained specific information on the Nanded attack. Singh had also declared the personal mobile number of this police officer in the media. This can be verified from media reports”.

He further writes, “What was intriguing, which no one from the media or otherwise at that time asked, was: what was the relationship between a political leader and an Indian Police Service Officer of a neighbouring State cadre? Indeed, having been the Chief Minister of a State, Singh might have known many a police officer from his own State. But to be so friendly with a serving IPS officer of a neighbouring State is something that begs an answer. Without imputing motives to any individual, what was the police officer doing with a politician of a neighbouring State? AIS Conduct Rules expressly proscribe general hobnobbing of All-India Service personnel with political leaders except in the discharge of functions”.

RVS Mani in his book says that it was immediately after this that “Hindu Terror” bogey came into the record where it was claimed that one Sameer Kulkarni of Nanded was allegedly storing explosives in his workshop, which exploded on 20.4.2006.

In another part of the book, RVS Mani says that when Hemant Karkare was ATS chief, the evidence that Ahl-e-Hadith/Hadees were involved in the Malegaon blast was just tossed aside and the narrative was changed completely. Mani says that it was around this time that reports of the involvement of Hindu organisations were sent from Mumbai ATS to the Home Ministry and Sadhvi Pragya was named the prime accused. He says he is not aware whether the motorcycle, which was the prime evidence according to ATS (and was later explained as sold by Sadhvi Pragya) was planted or not but the time taken by the ATS raised questions. He says that during Mumbai blasts, it took the ATS over 5 months to make arrests while in the Malegaon case, the arrest of Lt Col Purohit took only 35 days.

Of course, it was later reported by the Media that NIA had reached the conclusion that the RDX was planted by Maharashtra ATS to frame Col Purohit.

It is indeed a fact that Hemant Karkare martyred in the line of duty while showing exemplary courage during the Mumbai attacks. It is also true that several questions have been raised not just by insider RVS Mani and victim Sadhvi Pragya, but several others about his conduct and collusion in the concoction of the ‘saffron terror’ lie. The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between. But the ‘liberals’ trying to silence the voice of Sadhvi Pragya, who was tortured, jailed and hounded, is certainly not going to get us closer to the truth.

Congress Party has shrunk to a fringe party by siding with Tukde Tukde gang : Union Minister Prakash Javdekar

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar attacked the Congress Party by saying that it has shrunk from a mainstream party to a “fringe Party”  which has no chance in future elections by siding with the ‘Tukde Tukde gang’. Javdekar dismissed Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot’s statement that the democracy and the Constitution are under threat under Modi’s rule and there would be no elections held if Modi came to power, as wrong and baseless.

Countering Gehlot’s remarks, he said that Modi had won the 2014 elections and now the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are being held. He said that elections will take place in 2024, 2029 and so on but Congress has no chance in these elections.

“Congress was the mainstream party and now it has become a fringe party siding with the ‘Tukde-Tukde gang’. Congress is giving a certificate that this is freedom of expression. They give such kind of defense,” said Javdekar.

Javdekar, who is the BJP poll in-charge for Rajasthan, claimed that BJP would get a landslide victory by getting more seats than it won in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and that the NDA would get two-third majority in the elections.

“After two phases of polls, the BJP is very certain of its landslide victory. We will improve our tally of 2014, will cross the 300-mark on our own and NDA will have a two-thirds majority. We are receiving people’s support in all states across the country and the opposition is completely nervous, they are facing imminent defeat and therefore they are reacting the way they are,” said the Minister.

Slamming the opposition patties Javdekar said that they know that they are going to be defeated and therefore they are trying to use the EVMs as an excuse. “They know they are going to be defeated so from today only they are preparing ground and finding some excuses for their defeat. This is what Congress and opposition are all about. We are very confident that people are responding to Modi’s leadership and they want Modi to be PM again,” he said.

Condemning the remarks made by Gehlot on the caste of the President, Javdekar said that President’s name has never been dragged in the elections discussion. He demanded action by the Election Commission (EC) on the casteist remarks made by Gehlot.

“In Rajasthan also, CM Ashok Gehlot is making casteist remarks against the President of the county. The Election Commission must take notice of it because never in the history, the president of India has been brought in the election discussion. It was Congress which brought him and specifying his caste is not only unethical but illegal too,” he added.

Gehlot had said that President Ram Nath Kovind was elected as the President by the BJP to appease his community.

Rape accused former Goa MLA Atanasio Monserrate joins Congress, likely to contest for Parrikar’s vacant assembly seat

On Thursday, former Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate, accused of raping a minor girl joined the Congress party and is all set to be the candidate for the assembly by-elections from the Panaji constituency scheduled on 19 May, reports The New Indian Express.

Reportedly, rape accused Atanasio Monserrate is likely to be fielded from Panaji against prospective Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Utpal Parrikar, son of late CM Manohar Parrikar.

Monserrate has a habit of changing political parties. He started his political career as a member of the United Goan Democratic Party (UGDP), then switched to the BJP in 2004 and then reverted back to the UGDP in 2007.

Further, he became a member of the Congress but was later thrown out from the party in 2015 for anti-party activities. Since then, he had been with the Goa Forward (GF).

Monserrate is believed to be a prominent leader in the state capital, despite being charge-sheeted in 2018 for allegedly raping a minor girl, and for human trafficking. Authorities have previously also booked him in a case of extortion.

“You can say it’s the return of the prodigal son. The son has learned a lesson roaming everywhere. It’s like a homecoming. I am here to defeat the BJP,” Monserrate said to media persons after joining the Congress.

It is being speculated that with Monserrate’s political hold and his influence, Congress can now hope to win the Panaji assembly seat and also gain an advantage in the two Lok Sabha seats of the state.

West Bengal: BJP’s Hooghly candidate Locket Chatterjee’s house attacked, party blames Trinamool goons

The rented residence at Hooghly, where BJP candidate from the Lok Sabha constituency, Locket Chatterjee was staying was allegedly attacked by goons associated with Trinamool on Friday, the 19th of April. The residence is located near Bandel, Hooghly. The incident occurred at around 11.30 in the morning.

Chatterjee was reportedly present in the house when the attack occurred. The goons gained access to the residence carrying BJP flags and once they were inside, they ran amok. The residence was then vandalized.

OpIndia.com has accessed images that depict the damage that was caused.

Speaking to reporters, Locket Chatterjee said, “I am a woman. To stop me, they have dared to enter my bedroom! My clothes have been strewn all over. I will approach the Police for protection. I will register a complaint with the Police. My medicines, my clothes, utensils, they have vandalized everything.”

Speaking to OpIndia.com, Arindam Munshi, Locket Chatterjee’s associate, said, “For some days, a few bikes could be seen right in front of the residence. We are new here, so we asked the owner of the house if they knew who these people were. They said they didn’t know them and they were not BJP workers. Today, we were having a meeting. Those people entered our house and started vandalizing the entire place. To protect Locket Didi, we took her inside a separate room as the door to her own was open. They vandalized her room as well. She has fortunately not been hurt.”

When asked if they knew who these people were, he said, “They belonged to the TMC. They picked a few BJP flags and managed to enter the place. Because they were carrying BJP flags, even our workers were taken aback for a moment. They could not understand what was happening. Trinamool is scared of Locket Didi’s campaign and thus, they are trying to put a stop to it.”

West Bengal has been under the grip of vicious political violence in this election cycle. Only yesterday, a BJP worker was killed and his body was found hanging on a tree in Purulia district. During phase 1 of the elections, rampant polling malpractice and violence was reported in the state. The same occurred during phase 2 as well.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission appears to be busy sending notices to people for appealing to people to vote for Narendra Modi in their wedding cards and banning movies.
