An FIR has been lodged in Assam against Bethsy Lalrinsangi, a Mizo gospel singer, and her husband, BCM-recognized evangelist C. Lalhriatpuia, over alleged forced religious conversion work. The accused couple held a gospel meeting at Mount Olive School in Debitola, Assam, where they performed ‘prayers’ for children.
Reports say that the FIR was registered on the complaint lodged by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliated Hindu rights organisation This came after the complainant found that the accused duo were converting children to Christianity in their gospel meetings.
Earlier this week, the couple was summoned to the Kokrajhar District Court in connection with this alleged child conversion case. During the court hearing, the couple requested interim bail, but the court rejected their plea.
“We are yet to receive the official documents and are not sure of the organisation or individual behind the FIR,” a church official said.
Islamists in Bangladesh continue their relentless attack on Hindus and their festivals, despite assurances of safety and protection from the interim government led by chief advisor Muhammad Yunus. Now, radical organizations have warned the Hindu minority community not to publicly celebrate Durga Puja or participate in any idol worship or immersion of idols as the festival draws near. Additionally, they are also opposing national holidays declared for the festival. Extremist groups recently staged a march against Hindus utilizing a playground in Dhaka’s Sector 13, reported India Today.
The location has been the centre of Durga Puja celebrations for many years. However, as anti-Hindu sentiments in the country are rapidly growing, several Islamic outfits have called for restrictions on celebrating the Hindu festival. Insaf Keemkari Chhatra-Janta demonstrated against the Hindu festival and held placards reading, “No worship anywhere by closing roads, no pollution to water by idol immersion, no worship to idols.” The organization has also put forth a 16-point demand that, citing concerns about environmental damage, asks for limitations on public acts of worship and idol immersion. It also wants government assistance funds for festival expenses to be banned along with a prohibition on closing roads for Hindu religious events.

Members of the organisation displayed banners in the demonstration with their 16 demands, which included “Stop calling Druga Puja a universal festival, its a festival of Hindus”, “Can’t allow organisation of Puja anywhere by blocking roads, Puja should be inside temples only”, “Drinking alcohol in temples centred around Puja won’t be allowed”, “immersion of idols in water causing water pollution”, “Durga Puja holidays should be restricted holiday, not general holiday”, “Stop export of Hilsa fish to India”, “Ban music during Puja”, etc.
According to Insaf Keemkari Chhatra-Janta, Durga Puja should not be celebrated as a public holiday since it disturbs the life of the majority Muslim community as Hindus make up less than 2% of the population. Referring to religious grounds, it further asserts that no Muslim should participate in or support Hindu festivals. They also want temples “built by occupying many special lands in Bangladesh” taken down.
It demands that anti-India banners and slogans be displayed in all temples so that Hindu residents can demonstrate their allegiance to Bangladesh and their anti-India sentiments. “Since India is the national enemy of Bangladesh, the Hindu citizens of Bangladesh must also agree to be anti-India. For this reason, anti-India banners and anti-India slogans should be kept in temples,” Insaf Keemkari Chhatra-Janta stated.
The Hindu community, which is gearing up for a more stressful Durga Puja, is extremely worried about these precarious developments. Attacks on the community have been regular since the previous government headed by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed collapsed on 5th August. Reports of temple vandalism and idol destruction have increased, heightening the anxiety of the marginalised community.
Hindus in Khulna have been asked to pay 5 lakh Bangladeshi taka (nearly, INR 3,50,726) to celebrate Durga Puja. Hindus will be beheaded, according to the letter received in the mail, if they reveal this to the government or the media. It further stated that the recipient’s fate would be similar to what transpired with Hanif’s project if the money was not paid. Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif’s house was plundered for multiple days after Sheikh Hasina’s government fell.
“Listen, if you want to perform Durga Puja in 2024, you will have to pay a contribution of five lakh taka from each temple. Otherwise, you will not be able to organise puja in any way. As was done in Hanif’s project, your fate will be the same. Keep all the money ready within a week. Give the money in a place in Kalinagar market as you will be told. Will inform you of the place later. If you tell these things to the administration, journalists or anyone else, remember that you will be cut like a taro stem. Your family will also not be spared. Tell all other nearby temples secretly as we don’t know the names of all temples. There will be no benefit in the administration and the army tricking us, the money will have to be paid. In the name of Allah, if we don’t get money, we will cut you into pieces. We are watching you,” the letter threatened.
The dwindling minority community of the country especially Hindus have faced gruesome attacks at the hands of the jihadis especially after Sheikh Hasina fled the nation. They have been murdered and raped while their temples and properties have been looted and destroyed by the fanatics in Bangladesh as the administration either watched like a mute spectator or denied the atrocities. Notably, what began as anti-quota agitation swiftly transformed into ruthless persecution of Hindus by Muslim extremists.
Raghuram Rajan, the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), courted controversy on Thursday (26th September) after he suddenly had a change of heart over India’s increased push in the ‘manufacturing sector.’
While speaking to PTI about the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Rajan stated, “I would say the intention is good. I think in some areas, we have done a lot, as I said, in infrastructure…we have done a lot that has been very useful”.
He noted that the Modi government has done well in areas such as infrastructure but claimed that a lot needed to be accomplished to promote ‘local manufacturing’ and ‘job creation.’

This is despite the fact that the Centre has already taken several measures to boost local manufacturing. This includes the launch of the Production-linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which was criticised by none other than Raghuram Rajan in 2023.
As per the data provided by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the PLI scheme alone has resulted in over Rs. 1.03 lakh crore of investment till November 2023. Production/ sales soared up to ₹8.61 lakh crore while over 6.78 lakh people were employed (directly/ indirectly).
Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Modi government had also eased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) norms, created national logistics policy, a single window approval system and reduced compliance burden – all of which led to an increase in local manufacturing.
Raghuram Rajan in this dated conversation (2022) with Rahul Gandhi, sounded less like an economist, and more like Rajdeep Sardesai, when he said, ‘India would be lucky to do 5% GDP growth next year (FY2022-23)’.
During his interview with PTI, Raghuram Rajan remained fixated on growth in GDP per capita and suggested that India would not become a ‘developed nation’ by 2047.
In 2022, he alleged that India would be ‘lucky’ if it achieved 5% GDP growth in FY 2022-23. In reality, India registered a GDP growth of 7.1% for the said period.
When Raghuram Rajan wanted India to focus on ‘services’ instead of ‘manufacturing’
The former RBI Governor, who is now mouthing platitudes about India’s remarkable progress in building infrastructure and boosting manufacturing, had previously shot down Modi’s government’s increased focus on manufacturing.
In April 2022, Raghuram Rajan advocated that India focus on exporting ‘services’ instead of becoming a manufacturing hub. He claimed that India somehow had an advantage in building strength in services instead of using the country’s resources on manufacturing-led growth.
“The problem for us in imitating China’s path is China has already created the backlash in the West to manufacturing-led growth. It is not that we will be able to manufacture those cheap assembly line stuff that China manufactured and sent to the US without seeing a similar kind of backlash against India. There is a lot of sensitivity to this kind of stuff today,” he had infamously said.
Again in October of that year, Raghuram Rajan lashed out at the Modi government for not following his unsolicited advice. He reiterated that India must refrain from going down the path of China in becoming a manufacturing hub.
Weightless services also consume little energy on the way to the final consumer, unlike manufactured goods. Export-led services growth will be much less environmentally harmful — the world cannot afford India to follow China’s path, even if it were open to it,” he had brazened out.
The former RBI Governor claimed that liberalisation of the manufacturing sector was fraught with diminishing returns.
“One reason industrial countries have soured on open borders is their manufacturing workers have been disproportionately hit by global competition and outsourcing, while service workers have benefited. Both politically and economically, further liberalization of manufacturing has diminishing returns,” he had said.
Now that India is doing well in the manufacturing sector, Raghuram Rajan has begun changing his tune.
On Wednesday, September 25th, a minor boy studying in class 2 was reported dead under ‘mysterious’ circumstances in a private school named DL Public School in Hathras. The father of the boy was called from the school saying that his son had fallen ill and was being taken to the hospital by Dinesh Baghel, the school director. But later father Krishan Kushwaha recovered the dead body of his son from the school director’s car.
In an update to the case, the police have revealed that the child was murdered as a part of a ‘black magic’ ritual. As per the reports, the incident is said to have happened at DL Public School at Rasgawan under Sahpau Police Station limits. The police said that black magic was performed to “bring success and fame to the school”. The incident has led to the arrest of a total of five persons including the director of the school.

During the investigation, the police further revealed that the arrested individuals tried to kill another boy in the recent past but fortunately, the attempt remained unsuccessful. Hathras SP Nipun Agarwal while talking to the media confirmed that the school director Dinesh Baghel, his father Jashodhan Singh, and three professors identified as Laxman Singh, Veerpal Singh, and Ramprakash Solanki were all involved in the murder. “The boy was sacrificed as part of a ritual for the school’s supposed success and glory. We are investigating if any other individuals were involved in the murder,” he said.
According to the police investigation, Baghel’s father believed in black magic and tantrik rituals, as did his son and the three teachers. “Jashodhan had tried to kill a boy earlier as well, although it was not successful,” Agarwal added.

D L Public School has approximately 600 students, and the hostel where the boy was murdered houses kids from classes 1–5. The dead child was the son of Krishan Kushwaha, a software developer at a Delhi-based private enterprise.
On Monday, 23rd September morning, a staff member and other students discovered the boy motionless in his hostel bed. Instead of immediately reporting the death, the school director, accused Dinesh attempted to conceal the crime by placing the boy’s body in his car and driving around hospitals to Agra and Aligarh for several hours. The boy’s family, from Tursen, Hathras, meanwhile was told that their son was unwell and was being taken to the hospital. However, when they arrived at the school, they couldn’t find the boy.
Kushwaha, realizing something was wrong, contacted the local police. A manhunt was launched for Baghel, and after a few hours, authorities discovered the boy’s body with neck injuries inside Baghel’s vehicle.
A senior police officer stated, “The child’s body was discovered in the director’s car after the family raised the alarm.” We sent the body for an autopsy, which indicated that the infant died from strangulation on Sunday night. A murder case under BNS section 103(1) has been filed against the five accused.
Ahead of the Durga Puja celebrations, a radical Muslim man vandalised the idols of Goddess Durga and other Hindu deities in Gouripur town in the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh on Wednesday (25th September).
As per reports, the accused was identified as 22-year-old Yasin Mia. The police arrested him on Thursday (26th September) morning for his involvement in the desecration of Hindu idols.
Mia entered the premises of Gobindajew temple in the wee hours of Wednesday and began destroying the idols, which had been sculpted for the past 20 days. While attempting to take the idols away, he was spotted by a Hindu woman named Dolly Rani.
While the foreign advisor kept telling world about safeguarding hinuds, the reality stands just the opposite.
In yet another systematic attack on hindus, idols meant for celebration of #DurgaPuja are vandalized at a temple at Gouripur Upazila in #Mymansing.
She raised alarm and Mia was quickly apprehended by two locals, Akhil Chandra Bishwasharma and Bipul Ghosh. The accused was then handed over to the police.
Durga Puja is set to commence from 9th October this year. As part of the preparation, Hindu artisans were sculpting the idols at the Gobindajew temple in Gouripur. Only the painting of the idols remained when Yasin Mia laid siege to the Hindu mandir.
The arrested Muslim man is now being interrogated by the police. Yasin Mia, the son of Abdur Hannan, hails from Gajandar village in Gouripura upazila. The accused’s mother Mina Akhtar now claims that her son is mentally challenged.
While speaking about the matter, the President of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (Gouripur upazila) remarked, “All idols have been more or less broken. I do not understand why this is done. I have never seen such an incident in my life.”

On 6th September, a procession of Hindu devotees carrying the idol of Lord Ganesha came under attack in the Kadam Mubarak area in Chittagong city of Bangladesh.
Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Thursday allowed Yasin Bhatkal, a notorious terrorist and one of the founders of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), to have a video conference (VC) meeting with his ailing mother.
Bhatkal had originally sought permission for custody parole to meet his mother in person; however, the court granted the meeting via video conferencing instead.
While passing the order, the Additional Sessions Judge, Dr Hardeep Kaur, directed the concerned Jail Superintendent to allow Yasin Bhatkal to interact with his ailing mother through video conferencing, but only as a one-time allowance.
The court further instructed that Bhatkal must communicate with his mother in Hindi only.
Additionally, for security reasons, the court granted the Jail Superintendent the liberty to record the communication if deemed necessary, said the court.
Advocate MS Khan and other counsel advocates Qausar Khan, Prashant Prakash and Rahul Sahani appeared for Yasin Bhatkal in the matter.
Yasin Bhatkal, a convicted terrorist and one of the founding members of the Indian Mujahideen, has sought custody parole from Delhi’s Patiala House Court.
Currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, Delhi, Bhatkal has requested parole to attend to his ailing mother, who has recently undergone cardiac surgery.
Yasin Bhatkal, who was sentenced to death by a Hyderabad court in 2016 for his involvement in multiple terror attacks, has cited his mother’s critical condition following heart surgery as the reason for his request.
In his plea, Bhatkal referenced Para 1203 of the Delhi Prison Rules, 2018, which outlines the circumstances under which custody parole can be granted.
These include, death of a family member, marriage of a family member, serious illness of a family member and any other emergency circumstance subject to the approval of the DIG (Range) of prisons.
Syed Mohammed Ahmed Zarar Siddibappa, commonly known as Yasin Bhatkal (born on 15 January 1983), is a convicted Islamist terrorist and one of the co-founders and leaders of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), a proscribed terrorist organisation.
The Indian Mujahideen was founded around 2005 by Yasin Bhatkal, along with Riyaz Bhatkal and Iqbal Bhatkal (who are brothers, though not related to Yasin), among others.
Under Yasin Bhatkal’s leadership, the group has been responsible for several deadly terrorist attacks across India. Yasin Bhatkal’s actions led to the deaths of many civilians, and he was eventually captured in 2013.
He was sentenced to death by a Hyderabad court in 2016 for his role in orchestrating several terrorist attacks. His involvement with the Indian Mujahideen made him one of India’s most wanted criminals before his arrest.

The Trinamool Congress administration has come under fire after the video of an attack on two young men from Bihar by a group of men claiming to be police officials in Siliguri, West Bengal, went viral on social media on 26th September. Two union ministers, Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Shandilya Giriraj Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party slammed the Mamata administration over the incident.
“Red carpet for Rohingya Muslims in Bengal and Bihar kid beaten up for taking exam? Are these children not part of India? Has the Mamata government taken the contract of only saving rapists,” Giriraj Singh lashed out and also tagged Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

Chirag Paswan also expressed concern over the shocking instance and stated, “The news of the brutal assault on Bihari students in West Bengal is very unfortunate and condemnable. The Chief Minister of that state has once again insulted the Biharis, which cannot be tolerated at all. I want to ask Mamata Banerjee ji, is it a crime to take an exam in West Bengal? Will the opposition party leaders still remain silent? I want to ask the Leader of the Opposition of Bihar, on what basis will you support the Trinamool Congress now?” Additionally, he urged Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, to do a comprehensive investigation into the incident and prosecute those responsible.

The assailants claimed the victims had faked their domicile documents. They forced them who had gone to participate in the physical exam for a Staff Selection Commission General Duty (SSC GD) recruitment to apologize and perform sit-ups. One of the victims was even slammed against a wall.
In the video, two men are seen sleeping when a group of individuals storm into their room, wake them up and ask them where they are from in Bengali. When the duo respond that they are from Bihar, they are questioned about the reason for their visit and asked if they understand Bengali. Ankit Yadav, one of the males, answers they have come for a physical examination. A man in the group asks him about how they may take an exam in the state when they are not its residents.
Members of the group dispute Yadav’s assertion that they were given the Siliguri centre, arguing that only persons who live in Bengal can apply for that station. The males in the group then demand to see his paperwork, saying they are from the police.
Yadav requests that they take him to the police station as the altercation gets more heated and members of the group start threatening them. After being thrown to the ground, he assures that he will go back to Bihar. Following this, Yadav and the other man are forced to perform sit-ups and given a warning not to travel to Bengal for exams ever again. Yadav is likewise forced up against the wall since he won’t hand over his paperwork out of concern that it would be torn. He begs the assailants in the last moments of the video and swears he will go back home.
The prime accused has been identified as Rajat Bhattacharya, according to reports. He is associated with an organization called Bangla Pokkho which is known for its anti-Hindi activism and advocating the Bengali language. He alleged that youths from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are coming to the state for SSC examination and snatching the jobs of Bengali youths. He stated, “We are from the Bangla Pokkho organization and we were told that they have fake certificates. So we went there to catch them. However, some other persons associated with SSB, saved them and they ran away. We wanted to take them to the police.”
“We wanted to catch them red-handed first and then there was a plan to take them to the police,” in response to why they hadn’t notified the police beforehand. He argued that they looked at the certificates and discovered they were bogus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday dedicated three PARAM Rudra Supercomputers and High-Performance Computing systems to the nation. These systems have been installed in Delhi, Pune, and Kolkata, respectively.
“These supercomputers will go a long way in ensuring that India’s scientists have access to state-of-the-art facilities,” the Prime Minister said. “The three supercomputers launched today will help in advanced research from physics, earth science, and cosmology.”
“To instill scientific temperaments in young minds, 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs have been set up in schools. Additionally, scholarships for STEM subjects have been increased,” he added.
The National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) was established to provide the country with a robust supercomputing infrastructure to meet the growing computational needs of academia, researchers, MSMEs, and startups. It is the first initiative of its kind aimed at boosting the country’s computing power.
The National Supercomputing Mission is jointly managed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and is being implemented by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
These supercomputers are equipped with applications catering to domains such as Weather and Climate, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Bioinformatics, and Material Science. The systems offer Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities over Machine Learning and Deep Learning frameworks, along with Compute and Storage as a cloud service.
“In this year’s budget, a research fund of Rs 1 lakh crore has been announced so that India empowers the 21st century world,” PM Modi added.
Highlighting India’s achievements in the space sector, the Prime Minister pointed to recent successes, saying, “India aims to establish the ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035.”
In 2023, India reached new heights with the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 at the Moon’s South Pole and the launch of Aditya-L1, India’s first solar mission. These milestones not only strengthened India’s position in the global space economy but also bolstered the growth of the private space sector in the country.
India is now preparing for the ambitious Gaganyaan mission, which aims to demonstrate human spaceflight capabilities by launching a crew of astronauts into orbit and safely bringing them back to Earth, with a planned landing in India’s sea waters.
The semiconductor sector has also become a crucial component of India’s growth, PM Modi noted.

On Thursday, 26th September, Yupia Sessions Court in Arunachal Pradesh awarded death punishment to Yumken Bagra, the main offender for sexually assaulting 21 minor students of the Karo Residential School in Shi Yomi district. Bagra, who was the hostel warden at the institution, has received the most severe punishment for his involvement in the crimes.
Special judge Jaweplu Chai also sentenced former headmaster Singtung Yorpen and Hindi teacher Marbom Ngomdir to 20 years in prison for aiding and abetting an offense under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and failing to report it. Some of the students had reported the abuse to Yorpen, but he asked them to stay silent so that the school’s image would not be tarnished. This verdict is viewed as an important step toward justice for the victims, and the court’s decision has been highly welcomed by the public.
“We are happy with the verdict as the court heard our pleas for stringent and exemplary punishment,” said Oyam Bingepp who represented the 21 children before the POCSO special court. “This is the first death sentence in India given to an accused under the POCSO Act for aggravated penetrative sexual assault of victims in which the victims had not died,” Bingepp added.
Two other accused, Tajung Yorpen, another teacher at the same school, and Daniel Pertin, a friend of the hostel warden, were acquitted of all the charges. The case came to light in November 2022, when the father of one of the accused Bagra is of sexually assaulting, harassing, and attempting to rape his 12-year-old twin daughters at the residential school.
A special investigative team (SIT) that investigated the issue discovered that between 2014 and 2022, Bagra sexually molested at least 21 kids, including six boys aged 6 to 14, while serving as the school’s hostel warden.
The chargesheet, submitted in July last year, accused the warden of drugging students before attacking them and threatening them not to report the assault. According to the SIT, six of the Bagra victims tried suicide but were unsuccessful.
Bagra was convicted under IPC sections 328, 292, and 506 (administering poison/harmful substance with the intention of committing an offense, showing obscene material, and criminal intimidation), as well as POCSO Act sections 6, 10, and 12 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault and sexual harassment), respectively.
Ngomdir, a female teacher at the school, was also convicted under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Sections 17 and 21 (1) of the POCSO Act for abetment of an offense and failure to report an offense. According to the prosecution, the victims told her about their plight, but she failed to report it to higher authorities, allowing the torture to continue.
Singtung Yorpen, the headmaster of the government residential school at the time of the assaults, was convicted under IPC sections 17 (abetting an offense) and 21 (2) (failure to report a crime).
On Thursday, 26th September, Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as ‘BeerBiceps’, became the victim of a cyberattack that hacked 2 of his YouTube channels. In an Instagram post, Allahbadia disclosed that hackers had taken control of his channels. The name of BeerBiceps was changed to “@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024,” while his personal channel was renamed “@Tesla.event.trump_2024.”
As per the reports, the hackers erased a large chunk of his content, including interviews and podcasts, and replaced it with old feeds of events featuring Elon Musk and Donald Trump. The hackers also posted videos featuring AI-generated avatars of Elon Musk urging viewers to invest in cryptocurrency. They attempted to lure viewers into a cryptocurrency scam by promising to double their money if they invested their Bitcoin or Ethereum in a suspicious website called elonweb.net.
While Allahbadia has not yet issued an official statement on the hack, he did indirectly mention the matter in one of his Instagram stories. He captioned a photo of a meal, “Celebrating my two main channels being hacked with my favorite food. Vegan burgers. Death of BeerBiceps met with Death of diet.”
In another post, he said, “Is this the end of my YouTube career? Was nice knowing you all.” In yet another post he said that he was working on the next steps and was feeling calm. “Life always shows you the next doorway,” he added.
Allahbadia, who started his digital journey at the age of 22 with the debut of BeerBiceps, now maintains seven YouTube channels and has about 12 million subscribers. It remains unknown whether he has recovered access to his channels.
