Police claim Rajsamand murderer invented ‘love jihad’ story for covering up an illicit relationship

0

In December of last year, Rajasthan’s Rajsamund district witnessed a brutal murder when a man named Shambhu Lal Regar allegedly burnt a Muslim labour alive and circulated a gruesome video of the proceedings on social media.

In order to ‘justify’ this barbaric act of his, Regar alleged that he did so to take revenge for his sister, who allegedly was a victim of love jihad. Regar as per reports had also shown no repentance for his crime, and had alleged that the victim was threatening to kill his family.

Now it seems that the cops have punctured this elaborate ‘love jihad’ theory of his, if reports are to be believed.

As per the charge sheet filed by the police, the accused Shambhu Lal Regar had conjured up a ‘love jihad’ angle, in order to hide an illicit relationship with the woman whom he called his “Hindu sister”.

This charge sheet was filed in the Rajsamand chief judicial magistrate court on Friday, which includes charges of murder, outraging religious feelings and criminal conspiracy. The hearing in this case is scheduled on 17th January.

The charge sheet speculates that the reason Regar came up with the ‘love jihad’ angle to cover his real motive for the murder which was being angry over the fact, that the woman in question, was still in contact with a labourer Ballu Sheikh with whom she had eloped in 2010. Regar then reportedly tried to bring her back to his village, but she refused. The person named Ballu Sheikh belonged to the same village as the murder victim.

This murder of the Muslim labourer had also resulted in communal tensions in the region.

We had reported how section 144 was imposed in Udaipur and Rajsamand after a rally was taken out by Hindu groups purportedly in order to protest against inflammatory sloganeering carried out by Muslims in Udaipur’s Chetak Circle.

As per a tweet put out by a Hindustan Times journalists, Muslim groups had carried out a rally in Udaipur on Friday to demand death penalty against the accused, but it wasn’t confirmed whether this inflammatory sloganeering was part of this protest march.

It’s time to right a historic wrong and confer Bharat Ratna on Field Marshal Cariappa

0

On 15th January 1949, India got its first Indian army Commander-in-Chief; Field Marshal KM Cariappa. Army day is celebrated on this day to celebrate this proud and memorable occasion. He took over from General Roy Butcher. According to recently declassified British records, it has been revealed that Gen Butcher was not loyal to India. He advised the Indian Cabinet against sending in troops to liberate Hyderabad. At this instance, Sardar Patel asked for Gen Butcher’s resignation. Cariappa took over and Indianized the army in subsequent years.

Kodandera “Kipper” Madappa Cariappa, (28 January 1899 – 15 May 1993) was born in Madikeri, Karnataka. Cariappa completed his education in Presidency College, Chennai and joined the British Army. He started his career in 2nd Battalion of the 88th Carnatic Infantry. KM Cariappa served the British in both first and second world war. His important achievements include Operation Kipper in Kashmir and smooth division of British Indian army into Indian and Pakistani constituents during the process of India’s partition. After four years of service as the Commander-in-Chief, Cariappa retired on 14 January 1953. He has been decorated with the highest rank in the army i.e. ‘Field Marshal’ for his distinguished services to the country. The only other person who has earned this rank is Field Marshal Sam Maneckshaw.

Operation Kipper

In his book ‘Leadership in the Army, Biographies of Twelve Soldiers‘ , Gen. VK Singh writes :

Cariappa experienced some of his finest moment during the Kashmir Operations. Operation Kipper, which successfully captured Naushera and Jhangar was planned by him. This was followed by Operation Easy for the link up with Punch and Operation Bison for capture of Zojila, Dras  and Kargil. Had he been given additional troops and necessary permission he would have succeeded in pushing out Pakistanis out of Kashmir, plans for which had already been made. Unfortunately this did not come about due to the intervention by the United Nations after an appeal from India. Characteristically, Nehru to the decision to appeal to the UN without consulting the armed forces

This incident sparked off the difficult relationship that Cariappa had with Nehru. Nehru never trusted Cariappa’s or any other army chief’s advise. As a result of this haughty attitude, India suffered humiliation at the hands of Chinese in 1962. In an interview to the Open Magazine the army veteran said:

“I had told Nehru long ago, and repeatedly, not to trust the Chinese. I had warned Menon in no uncertain terms. They paid no attention. Bilkul nahi.

If Nehru had heeded to the suggestions and advice of the illustrious Cariappa, we would not be struggling with the threat of a two and half front war today. The animosity between the two personalities explains why Cariappa did not get Bharat Ratna under successive governments.

He Is My Son No Longer

During the 1965 war, Field Marshal Cariappa’s son, Nanda, an IAF pilot, was shot down in Pakistan and captured as a POW. Once General Ayub Khan got to know that Nanda was Cariappa’s son, he got in touch with his former boss. Field Marshal Cariappa was once Ayub Khan’s senior in the British Indian Army. His biographer Vijay Singh recounts that Cariappa scoffed at the idea of special treatment to his son. Cariappa said to Ayub Khan ;

“He is my son no longer. He is the child of this country, a soldier fighting for his motherland like a true patriot. My many thanks for your kind gesture, but I request you to release all or release none. Give him no special treatment.

Field Marshal KM Cariappa Should Get a Bharat Ratna

While speaking at the Cauvery College in Karnataka’s Kodagu District on November 4 2017, army chief Bipin Rawat reiterated the popular demand that Field Marshal KM Cariappa should be awarded Bharat Ratna. The army chief said:

“It’s time to recommend Field Marshal KM Cariappa for the Bharat Ratna,” asserted General Bipin Rawat, who was here to unveil the statues of Field Marshal KM Cariappa, and Padma Bhushan and Distinguished Service Order (DSO) awardee General Kodendera Subayya Thimayya, at Cauvery College in Karnataka’s Kodagu District.”

While obliquely hinting at some of the undeserving people who have received the award, he right said

“If others can get it (Bharat Ratna), I see no reason why he (Field Marshal KM Cariappa) shouldn’t be a deserving personality for the same,” he added.

This is absolutely true. We must never forget, the first PM, who never took KM Cariappa’s advice but gave a Bharat Ratna to himself.

It is thus time to rectify this historic wrong. India as a country has to learn to be eternally grateful to the greats who crafted this country, and give them their due. It is time, that Field Marshal KM Cariappa gets recognised for the great man he was.

How technology from Israel is helping Indian farmers

0

There is a lot of buzz about Israel’s competence in the field of agricultural technology. There is great expectation on this front as far as the Indo -Israel cooperation is concerned. The progress of this partnership, is crucial for the future of Indian agriculture and to the Prime Minister’s dream of doubling farmer’s income But details there of have not been disseminated in the mainstream media.

The Indo-Israeli Agricultural Project started in 2008 following the signing of a three-year action plan between the two governments. The plan was later on extended to include the 2012-2015 period. On the occasion of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s 5-day visit to India, Indians should know about the phenomenal success stories that have emerged from this partnership.

The Indo- Israel partnership in agriculture is implemented by MASHAV,  Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation which shares the best of Isreal’s experience in development and planning. MASHAV is running centres of excellence in Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. These centres demonstrate the best of Israel’s technology in growing fruits and vegetables.

The Indo – Isreal Agriculture Project (IIAP) document on their embassy’s official website says :

India is presently in the midst of its second “Green Revolution”. During the first “Green Revolution”, India achieved self-sufficiency in the supply of food grains, an extraordinary achievement of its agricultural sector. While dealing with a high rate of population increase, the issue of food security has become crucial, leading the country to a compelling need to find alternative ways to feed its 1.2 billion people.

The first goal of the present “Green Revolution” is the transition towards sustainable agriculture, including implementing agricultural production practices which take into consideration the protection of natural resources and the environment; effective utilization of water resources and the reduction of harmful pesticides.

The second goal is diversification – by diversifying the food basket, the population will benefit from a larger supply of fruits and vegetables, a primary source of essential minerals and vitamins. The important task of achieving this challenge was entrusted to India’s National Horticulture Mission (NHM).

This framework is in sync with the needs of Indian farmers and PM Modi’s vision to double farmers income by 2022.

A Success Story in Gharaunda, Karnal (Haryana)

The centers of excellence in Gharaunda was one of the first that opened under the Indo-Isreal agriculture project. It serves as a model for rest of the centres opened elsewhere. Over 20,000 farmers visit this center according the document. The project is supported by National Horticulture Mission and farmers are provided a subsidy by state government for adopting the technology demonstrated here.

The main technology demonstrated here is called walk-in-tunnel farming/ protected agriculture. Walk-in-Tunnels (WIT) are protected structures with 2.5 to 4.0 meter heights. Tunnels are made of GI steel pipes and covered with 200 microns UV poly sheets. This protects the plants from pests and adverse climatic conditions. The approximate cost of installation of WITs is Rs. 600 per sqm. The Israelis call the same technology as protected cultivation.

A Walk-in-Tunnel (Image Source: MASHAV video on IIAP)

The Israeli technology has demonstrated that the output of the crop can be increased by 5 to 6 times of that obtained using primitive technologies. But the most exciting part of the project is, the increase in yield comes with a 65% drop in water consumption and reduction in amount of fertilizers and pesticide usage. This technology can address India’s water problems and rising food requirement. Here is a table that shows the improvements registered in this center of excellence.

Change in Output of vegetables  at Gharaunda Center Source: MASHAV Document on Indo-Israel Agriculture Proect

Presently, farmers in Haryana are growing vegetables using this technology in 1200 hectares with numbers rising steadily. If this technique is adopted all farmers of India, the output and income of agriculturists throughout the country could go up drastically. We might produce a surplus for exports as well !

There have been similar success stories in Dapoli Maharashtra, where mango output was tripled (1500 kg/hectare to 4500kg/hectare) by rejuvenating senile mango trees and increasing tree density from 100 to 400 trees per hectare. MASHAV says that it has further plans to extend the cooperation in the area of animal husbandry as well. Going forward, Israel could become the best friend of Indian farmers. With increase in budgetary investment for agriculture and better technology, India could very well achieve the goal of doubling farmer income by 2022.

Let’s take a moment to welcome Benjamin Netanyahu and thank Israel for helping our farmers. Cheers to India- Israel partnership !

Fact check: Did Amit Shah organise Judge Loya’s son’s press conference

0

Yesterday, late judge BH Loya’s 21 years old son, Anuj Loya held an emotional press conference, where he appealed to the NGOs, politicians and lawyers to stop harassing him and his family. He said that he had no suspicion about any foul play in the the death of his father.

But far from empathizing with the family that has been struggling to come to terms with the incident, a new controversy has broken out.

BH Loya, who was the special Central Bureau of Investigation judge presiding over the trial of BJP President Amit Shah and various top cops of Gujarat in the alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi, had died 3 years back in Nagpur, at the age of 48. Suddenly last year there were claims that his death was not natural — something which his son denied in the press conference.

However, some journalists and politicians alike were quick to jump the gun and cast aspersions that BJP President Amit Shah ‘arranged’ the press conference and that Loya family is saying this under pressure from the BJP.

A Newslaundry columnist, who has been known for spreading bigotry and propaganda, was quick to accuse Amit Shah of ‘arranging’ the press conference. He claimed that this fact was revealed during the press conference itself.

He then showed ’empathy’ towards judge Loya’s son for having to deal with people who ‘most probably killed his father’.

Former member of Congress’ ‘digital communications team’, Gaurav Pandhi, who has previously taken to spreading morphed images, too accused Amit Shah for ‘organising’ the presser.

Supreme Court Lawyer and politician Prashant Bhushan, who too has found spreading propaganda on Twitter, also claimed that the press conference was organised by Amit Shah.

Discredited IPS officer, Sanjiv Bhatt, who spends his time spreading muck on social media, copied Bhushan’s tweet as if a ‘WhatsApp group’ was activated to spread the agenda.

However, while the above were busy spreading this narrative, some people from the same left-liberal cabal had a different view. A journalist from TheWire and even editor of JantaKaReporter, which often report fake news, countered these claims:

Anti-BJP journalist Abhisar Sharma too was cautious about this:

Others too called out the spin of likes of Prashant Bhushan:

When the abusive Newslaundry columnist, whose propaganda was re-tweeted by AAP chief and Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was presented with facts, he showed his arrogance by refusing to accept correction.

So what is the truth? If you hear the video, it is quite clear that one of the representative nods in the direction of Ameet Naik, the lawyer, who is sitting on his right and says “We thank Mr. Ameet sir for the support”. A representative thanking his lawyer for the support was made out to be him thanking BJP national president for ‘arranging’ the press briefing. Because, clearly, how can there be two people with the same first name, right?

This goes out to show how the propaganda tools were activated last evening, to discredit Anuj Loya, just because what he had to say about his father’s death didn’t suit the ‘agenda’. Very soon this clip will become viral on social media, and a new lie will propagate.

Posters emerge in Amethi depicting Rahul Gandhi as Ram Avatar and PM Modi as Ravana

0

The Amethi congress supporters in order to possibly give a grand reception to Rahul Gandhi ahead of his Amethi visit, have started pasting posters to depict Rahul Gandhi as a reincarnation of Hindu Gods. Rahul Gandhi is visiting his Amethi parliamentary constituency for two days starting Monday.

As reported by ANI UP, a poster has emerged in the Gauriganj region of Amethi, which depicts Rahul Gandhi as Lord Ram’s incarnation and PM Modi as Ravan:

Image via ANI UP

As seen above, the poster claims that the incarnation of lord Ram in the form of Rahul Gandhi will bring Ram Rajya in 2019. In the poster Rahul is seen aiming some sort of a bow or a gun at PM Modi who is shown like Ravan with 10 heads.

However, there seems to be some confusion among Rahul supporters over the divine lineage of Rahul Gandhi as in Lucknow he has been depicted as Lord Krishna:

Image via ANI UP

As seen in the poster, Rahul Gandhi is depicted as a from of Lord Krishna and a person named Rahul Avasthi has been depicted Lord Krishna’s close friend Sudama.

This whole poster episode was enough to grab the attention of Twitter users who decided to react:

Such a depiction of Rahul Gandhi as a Hindu icon seems to have started more intensely since the Gujarat assembly polls, where the party took up an open soft Hindutva stance in order to try and woo Hindu voters.

We had reported about posters where Rahul Gandhi was depicted as a as an avatar of lord Shiva and another poster depicted him a descendant of Lord Parshuram. Besides this he has also been referred to as a Pandit and Arjun Avatar in some sketches.

The posters cropping up though haven’t always been favourable to Rahul Gandhi.

In August of last year it was reported how Rahul Gandhi missing posters had surfaced in Amethi. This was supposedly because Rahul had visited his constituency about 6 months back to that date, after which he supposedly hadn’t been seen again.

Even mother Sonia was subjected to such a treatment, after similar posters were seen in her Rae Bareli constituency. These posters, apart from notifying her absence from the constituency, also promised a reward to whoever notified the people of Rae Bareli about her whereabouts.

Shashi Tharoor’s ‘like’ gaffe Is a confirmation of UPA’s pusillanimous response to 26/11

0

Shashi Tharoor, a former MoS in External Affairs ministry found himself in the middle of yet another controversy. Mr Tharoor had liked the Pakistan’s foreign minister’s tweet that included criticism of Indian army’s chief and a veiled threat of nuclear war against India.

Bipin Rawat had rightly said that the army was ready to call Pakistan’s nuclear bluff in his January 12 press conference. This was not a careless or hollow statement as Indian army had already demonstrated its confidence through surgical strikes.

Mr Tharoor went on to defend himself by first condemning the Pakistan foreign minister . He posted a seemingly ‘harsh’ tweet against Pakistan foreign minister.

He then went on to defend himself in another tweet by saying that a ‘like’ is just a bookmark and not a sign of approval. He might be a master of words, but this time he comes across as naive and illogical. There was no deep or scholarly thought in that tweet which deserved more attention during his ‘free’ time. The Pakistan foreign minister’s tweet was straightforward  in its criticism of army chief and veiled threat. Anyone with average IQ can read and assimilate its contents within a minute.

It was a very poor defence because of another important and obvious reason. Mr Tharoor condemns the nuclear threat in Khawaja’s tweet, but the entire nation knows that UPA’s Pakistan policy was framed and managed based on the same nuclear war threat. Nuclear war fear is nothing but a euphemism for strategic incompetence and low risk appetite. The UPA lacked trust in the army and  jeopardized Indian interests by not punishing Pakistan after 26/11. Allowing Pakistan to go scot free after 26/11 emboldened Pakistan Army, terrorists and ISI.

Using the same ‘nuclear war’ logic with some more additional masala, Mr Tharoor defends India’s pusillanimous response to 26/11 in the second chapter of his book ‘Pax Indica‘. He writes :

With Pakistan denying all responsibility for the murderous rampage [26/11 attack] that was planned on its soil , India seemed to have no good options. It was a typically Pakistani conundrum : the military wasn’t willing ; and the civilian government wasn’t able. And the fear remained that expecting Zardari to fulfill India’s minimal demands may be tantamount to asking him to sign his own death warrant. What we needed to had to done in a way that did not undermine the civilian government.

At the same time we all knew that anything that smacked of temporizing and appeasement would further inflame the public just a few months before the elections were due. But New Delhi also knew that though some hotheads in India were calling for military action, including strikes on terrorist facilities on Pakistani territory, that would certainly lead to a war that neither side could win. If anything, such a reaction would play into the hands of  the terrorists by strengthening their anti- Indian  nationalism in Pakistan and easing the pressure on Islamists. And since both India and Pakistan have nuclear weapons, the risk of military action spiraling out of control is always too grave for any responsible government to contemplate.

Three things are very clear from this excerpt :

  1. For UPA, saving civilian government and Zardari was more important than India’s interests
  2. They did not want the upcoming elections to be affected because of ‘appeasement’ and ‘public anger’. For UPA defending Indian interests is ‘appeasement’ !
  3. They did not trust the Indian army. Instead they feared a nuclear confrontation and rising anti-Indian nationalism in Pakistan.

So, it was not surprising when Amit Malviya found Khawaja’s tweet among Tharoor’s ‘liked’ tweets. It was just an endorsement of his own thinking and UPA’s Pakistan policy. Mr Tharoor, it is time to come out of the closet and admit your true beliefs on Pakistan’s nuclear bluff. It is also high time you realized your poor understanding of military strategy and warfare.

‘We have no suspicion, NGOs, lawyers, politicians please stop harassing us’ – Judge Loya’s family

0

In response to the constant media focus on the so-called mysterious death of judge BH Loya, his son Anuj Loya called for a press conference today. The 21 year old law student, who was visibly shaken and disturbed by the controversy, pleaded with the media to covey his message to the people who were harassing his family.

Anuj was joined by Ameer Naik, the lawyer representing the Loyas, who reiterated Anuj’s plea and helped the visibly frazzled youngster to articulate his views. They stated Anuj’s 85 year old grandfather in Latur, was being harassed by some people who are creating panic in the family by repeatedly questioning the octogenarian on the death of his only son.

They also revealed how Anuj’s mother i.e. judge Loya’s wife was ill, and needed medical treatment every single day and was still being chased by NGOs, lawyers and politicians. They also revealed that Anuj himself was just a 21 year old law student and many people were harassing him over this story and disturbing his academic life.

They said that as of now, there was no suspicion in the mind of any family member. He stated that earlier, since the sole bread-winner in the family, judge Loya, had died, some people had created some doubts in the mind of family members, which had been cleared now. They stopped short of naming these “people”.

Anuj too stated that it was possible that due to emotional trauma, his family may have held initial suspicions, which were recorded on camera by some media houses, but as of now they had no reason to doubt the circumstances of his father’s death.

They stated that 3 senior most judges were with judge Loya when he suffered pain in the chest, and when he was shifted to the hospital. They clarified that doctors made every effort to save him and the family members understood this. But some “other people” created some doubts and harassed the family over the unfortunate incident.

Anuj was asked whether he wanted further probe or investigations into this matter, and he clearly stated that since he had no suspicions, he was not keen on this matter being investigated. He also referred to a letter which he had written earlier, which was contradictory to his current stance, and stated that he was going through emotional trauma back then, but was now clear about it.

The family and the representatives requested the media repeatedly to stop using them to politicise the tragic incident in their family. The full video can be seen here:

Congress downplays Israeli PM Netanyahu’s India visit by putting out a juvenile and offensive video

0

On Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s maiden visit to India, when India is looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations with Israel, Congress Twitter account put out a juvenile video making fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeting world leaders and calling it ‘hugplomacy’.

In the video, Prime Minister Modi is shown hugging leaders of other countries, including US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Netanyahu is the second Prime Minister of Israel to visit India, the first PM being Ariel Sharon in 2003, during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure. Netanyahu’s visit comes within 6 months of Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Israel. While Israel is a key partner in areas of defence and agriculture, there is huge scope for co-operation in cyber security, water management and tourism as well.

However, Congress’ juvenile attempt at trivialising the historic step didn’t get many takers. Twitter users were quick to point out how Congress’ attempt at failed humour is unbecoming of an Opposition.

As people pointed out, perhaps political differences aside, when it comes to international relations and diplomacy, the grand old party of Indian politics is expected to maintain some decorum and dignity.

‘Enemy properties’ worth Rs 1 lakh crore to be auctioned off by government

0

The Home Ministry is planning to auction off over 9,400 ‘enemy properties’ worth over Rs. 1 lakh crore. These properties belong to those who have left for countries for like Pakistan and China and took the citizenship of these countries. The process of identifying these properties and estates will be started soon, the ministry said.

The move comes after the amendment of Enemy Property Act, which ensured that the heirs of those who migrated to Pakistan and China during Partition and afterwards will have no claim over the properties left behind in India. As per recent meeting held with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, it was informed that the survey of 6,289 enemy properties has been completed and that of the remaining 2,991 properties will be completed in due course.

As per the report in The Economic Times, among the 9,280 properties left behind by Pakistani nationals, the highest 4,991 properties are located in Uttar Pradesh followed by West Bengal which has 2,735 such estates. There are 487 such properties in Delhi. The property left behind by Chinese nationals, the highest of 57 are located in Meghalaya, followed by 29 in West Bengal. Assam has 7 such properties. According to the new Act, ‘enemy property’ refers to any property belonging to, held or managed on behalf of an enemy, an enemy subject or an enemy firm.

With 263 such ‘enemy properties’ left behind by Pakistani nationals, Goa ranks 4th whereas despite sharing border with Pakistan, Gujarat has only 146 such ‘enemy properties’.

After the Indo-Pak war of 1965, the Enemy Property Act was enacted in 1968, which regulates such properties and lists the custodian’s powers. Following the claims of heirs of Raja Mohammad Amir Mohammad Khan, on his properties across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the Act was amended.
