Actor Prakash Raj spreads Fake News about the BJP to attack Yogi Adityanath

0

Actor Prakash Raj who prominently played the role of the villain in the Singham movie, has in recent days been trying hard to become a villain for the BJP.

He has been striving hard to become a thorn in the BJP’s shoe and in the process has asked the Modi government to apologise to the people for demonetisation and has even questioned PM Modi on BJP not winning 150 seats in the Gujarat elections. He had also decided to send a legal notice to BJP MP Pratap Simha, who he claimed ‘soiled his (Prakash Raj’s) image’.

Now Prakash Raj seems to have decided to take the route of spreading fake news in order to attack the BJP. This is what he tweeted yesterday:

In the tweet he attached a text note:

Image tweeted by Prakash Raj

The text note riddled with typos, attacked Yogi Adityanath for condemning the celebration of Tipu Jayanthi. As per the note, Raj questioned why Yogi was sowing seeds of ‘disharmony and hatred’ in the state.

He then asked Yogi to take a close look at the images he shared, which he claims show BJP leaders happily celebrating Tipu Jayanthi a few years back. He thus questioned as to why has he (Yogi) suddenly developed resentment against the event, when he had no issues with it in the past. These are the images:

As seen above former BJP CM BS Yeddyurappa and other BJP leaders are dressed in a Islamic attire and as per Prakash Raj are celebrating Tipu Jayanthi. Such claims which were also spread by Karnataka Congress’ official page and current CM Siddaramaiah, were promptly exposed by us as Fake News.

The truth is that the, the first picture is actually of Yeddyurappa attending an Iftar party:

The second picture of former CM Jagdish Shettar attending an Iftar party which was organised by BJP Minority Morcha state unit in Bangalore:

The third picture as pointed out by @SMHoaxSlayer, is of a Karnataka Janatha Paksha Minority Convention in Bengaluru:

So clearly, Prakash Raj knowingly or unknowingly spread fake news in order to somehow attack the BJP, the party which he for some unknown reason he extremely dislikes. It remains to be seen whether, the BJP too would take a leaf out of Raj’s book and send him a letter for ‘soiling the party’s image’.

Congress ecosystem divides the Country with every breath, but still represents ‘idea of India’

0

Yesterday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to campaign for the BJP in Karnataka, addressing a massive rally in Hubli. The typical reaction of Congress workers? Showing class hatred towards migrants from UP who make a living in Karnataka doing what are apparently low level jobs:

Journalist shows his bias against North Indians

Oops! My apologies. Mr D P Satish is not a Congress worker, but a journalist, apparently even a Senior Editor for CNN-News18. I know the difference is irrelevant for all practical purposes, but still it must be pointed out in the interest of accuracy.

At one level, you have to understand the apprehensions that Congress might have about people who do low level jobs. I hear that a migrant from a village in Gujarat, who started off as a tea seller, managed to go to Delhi and snatch from a crown prince the job that he used to see as his birthright.

But what I want to point out is how the Congress, despite its openly expressed hatred towards the “lower class,” is miraculously able to position itself as the party for the poorest and weakest in society.

This is what should be called “secular privilege.” The amazing ability to divide the country in every single breath and still be able to claim copyright over the “idea of India.”

The next big state going to elections now is Karnataka. Right from the level of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Congress ecosystem is openly playing the “North vs South” card. The campaign for Karnataka has been in full swing for at least three months now and the Congress and its camp followers have spared no effort to insult those from UP and Bihar.

The amazing thing is that this campaign began barely a couple of months after Rahul Gandhi ji proudly proclaimed himself as one of “UP ke ladke.” The poor migrant from a village in Uttar Pradesh who comes to say Bangalore to work as a security guard is insulted and mocked. The spoilt rich kid “UP ka ladka”, who has never worked for a living, also happens to be the Supreme Leader of the Congress Party. He is currently receiving all round praise merely for trying a bit harder than usual in a losing cause for his party in Gujarat.

But the migrant from UP who works as a security guard in rain and sun, making a meager living for his humble family back in Uttar Pradesh : well, that person gets mocked by the Congress ecosystem.

By the way, you know one of those places in UP that cannot create even “security guard jobs” because of which people have to leave their homes to make a living?

Amethi!

And Uttar Pradesh has been ruled by Congress and its allies right since 2004. In case you have forgotten, both SP and BSP extended their support to the UPA government. The Congress was allied both with the ruling party and the main opposition in UP from 2004-2014.

Similarly, the corrupt Lalu Yadav who drove Bihar to ruin is also a top Congress ally. That does not stop the Congress ecosystem from being able to make fun of UP and Bihar when fighting the Karnataka elections down south.

And who can forget Akhilesh Yadav’s “Gujarat ke gadhe” remarks? Or his shocking accusation that nobody from Gujarat ever lays down their life serving in the Indian military?  What kind of disgusting human being would turn over the bodies of martyrs of the Indian army and check their name tags for their caste, religion and state of origin?

The Congress and its allies pull off this lowest form of divisive politics without breaking a sweat. And all we hear about is how they represent the “idea of India.”

Take the alleged “youth leader” and Congress’ great hope in Gujarat:

Hardik Patel

Wearing a cap with his caste “Patidar’” written on it. That is how Congress does “youth politics”.

I hope people fully absorb this. All of the secular ecosystem, its journalists, writers, artists, poets, all its so-called intellectuals had been praying for months now that Gujarat should embrace the kind of politics where every youth goes around wearing his caste name written on a cap on his head. This is their vision of youth politics for this nation. This is the future they so desperately want.

Remind them of this the next time these same liberals tell you how “regressive” the Hindu right is, with its interest in beef bans and alleged obsession with stopping “love jihad.” Remind these “progressive” liberals that they wanted the youth of Surat to walk around with their caste written on their heads.

Patidar, Thakore, Dalit, how many kinds of caps did you want, dear “progressive” liberals?

In every state, in every corner of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the Congress has relentlessly played divisive politics. In Uttar Pradesh, Sheila Dikshit was made the CM candidate to appeal to Brahmins. That was before they decided to go with the Yadavs and dropped her candidature.

In India’s second largest state (Maharashtra), the Congress is fighting with the Marathas to stop the Brahmin CM. In Karnataka, it is fighting against Hindi speakers. Everywhere, the Congress fights for the rights of religious minorities, except in Gujarat where it tried to get the dominant Patel community to rise up against a Jain Chief Minister. In Haryana, the Congress is stoking the fires of Jat agitation, trying to cash in on the fact that the BJP has appointed a Punjabi Khatri as Chief Minister.

The North Eastern state of Manipur doesn’t get much attention, but earlier this year, the Congress tried to win over there by strategically creating eight new districts that would cause heartburn between the Naga and Meetei populations. The state burned for months.

But secular progressive India does not see these fires. Because the only thing they have is the light of greed in their eyes. They are hungry for scraps from the high table of power. And they will do anything, just anything, to get the Dynasty back into power.

Those in the intellectual class, in the media, in academia, thinkers and public intellectuals, were supposed to represent the best of us. They were supposed to be visionaries, beacons of hope. Something very wrong has happened in India, with this class rooting for the return of the corrupt 70 year old feudal zamindari of one Dynasty. They are busy distributing Patidar caps and Maratha caps and Jat caps and what not.

It’s time for us, the little people to stand up with our India caps. Remember Lata ji’s divine voice:

“Koi Sikh, Koi Jat, Maratha
Koi Sikh, Koi Jat, Maratha
Koi Gurkha koi Madrasi
Koi Gurkha koi Madrasi

Sarhad par marne wala
Sarhad oar marne wala
Har veer bharatwasi”

When the Congress ecosystem hears this song,  they remember with a smile how a genocide of Sikhs gave the Congress its best ever score of 400 Lok Sabha seats. They reflect with satisfaction about how well the Jat and Maratha agitations are going. And how they plan to turn the South against the North. They are thinking about how Mamata didi successfully managed to subjugate Gurkhas to the majority Bengali will. And of course, Akhilesh Yadav sees this song as a vindication of his claim that no Gujarati ever dies for the country.

Don’t let them do this to us. Let’s reclaim the country. Jai Hind!

Fadnavis govt planning on giving ‘freedom fighter status’ to those jailed during Emergency

0

The Devendra Fadnavis led Maharashtra government may bring in a proposal to provide a freedom fighter status to those who were jailed during the dark Emergency period, imposed by Indira Gandhi. This was revealed by CM Fadnavis himself, after BJP leader Eknath Khadse raised a query in this regard in the state legislative assembly.

Khadse commented that there were many those who fought for the protection of democracy during emergency, in a similar way freedom fighters fought for the independence of the nation. He then asserted that, they (those jailed during emergency) are no less custodians of democracy, hence they should be rewarded appropriately.

Fadnavis replied that, the Maharashtra government was considering providing such a status to those jailed during emergency, and would take an appropriate decision regarding the same during a cabinet meeting next year.

He claimed that information has been sought from every district regarding this proposal, and such measures have already been taken about six-seven states of the country.

Maharashtra might provide such a status to those detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), and those eligible might get benefits accorded to freedom fighters, which includes a pension.

As per reports, the governments which currently provide such benefits include, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Madhya Pradesh does indeed seem to provide such benefits to “Emergency detainees” as this March, the MP government hiked their honorarium to Rs 25,000 per month from Rs 15,000. These measures were started by the Shivraj government in 2008 under the Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan Honorarium Rules.

While hiking this honorarium, the Minister of state (MoS) for general administration department (GAD), informed that the state calls these detainees as “Loktantra Senani” (Democracy warriors) and they number a total of 2,604 in the state.

Such a status for the emergency detainees seems to be a regular demand.

It was reported that in February, an event was organised by Bharat Suraksha Samithi and Lokthantra Senani Sangh, in Vijayawada to demand a freedom fighter status for these detainees. This meeting was also attended by  Telangana Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, who described that the emergency protesters (including him) fought against suppression, freedom of press, and human rights violation.

Modi Govt cracks down on IT defaulters – Can’t escape scrutiny with change of address

0

As per reports carried by the Economic Times, scrutiny measures are coming into force which will significantly heighten the chance of nabbing Income Tax defaulters.

As reported, the IT department has caught on to those supposedly clever individuals who tried to avoid Income Tax notices by fudging or shifting addresses. The IT rules have now been amended, which mean that the department would deliver IT notices at addresses which the assessees have given to banks, post offices, insurance companies etc if the notice isn’t delivered to the regular address. The notices will continue to be delivered via emails.

Earlier the notices were only delivered to addresses available in the PAN and current, previous year’s income tax returns.

These rules were amended by the Modi government in a notification dated 20th December 2017 and the measures [PDF] have come into force via an insertion of these provisions in sub-rule (2) of rule 127 in the Income-tax Rules, 1962.

Apart from this, another measure which is designed to thwart money laundering via Swiss Banks will come to force form 1st January, 2018. From this day the Swiss government will start sharing information on accounts of Indians in Swiss banks.

Apart from it, an Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) between the two countries based on global standards would start from September, 2019. This exchange requires a strict adherence to confidentiality and data protection.

These aren’t the only measures which might be used by the government and corresponding agencies to ensure scrutiny.

We had reported how the government may use GST data to track Income Tax defaulters. We had almost predicted such a step about a year ago in an article titled, “If demonetisation was bad for black money, GST will be much worse”.

We had also reported how the IT Department had issued detailed guidelines to tax officers, which are to be considered while ordering scrutiny assessments pertaining to filing of revised/belated returns by assessees, post-demonetisation period.

People react after Bombay HC prevents prosecution of Ashok Chavan in Adarsh scam case

0

On Thursday many were shocked, when it was reported that all the accused in the 2G spectrum scam were acquitted by a special court citing prosecution’s failure to prove its charges. The case and its facts though might still continue to spur public debate in the coming days as sinister details keep emerging in the matter.

Barely 24 hours have elapsed since the 2G verdict, and the judiciary has probably managed to provide another shock to the general public.

It has been reported that The Bombay High Court set aside Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao’s sanction which granted the CBI rights to prosecute the former Maharashtra CM in the Adarsh Housing scam.

As per the High Court bench, while asking for the sanction, the CBI had claimed that it had fresh evidence in its possession against Mr Chavan, but it failed to present any fresh material which was capable of being converted into evidence.

The bench also observed that, “The sanctioning authority is an independent body that can’t allow itself to be influenced by anyone’s opinion”.

Such a continuity of ‘unexpected’ judgements seems to have taken a toll on the general public who reacted with a variety of emotions including incredulity:

After two significant judgements regarding major scams have gone in favour of the accused, it remains to be seen what happen in Lalu Prasad Yadav’s case, when his verdict in the fodder scam is announced by a special CBI court on Saturday.

How FirstPost maligned the Indian Army with a shoddy article

0

In a recent article published on FirstPost, authored by Garga Chatterjee, a professor at Indian Institute of statistics, claimed that Indian Army’s official handle @adgpi was tweeting “misleading information” which, according to him, “adds to the culture of jingoistic misinformation, puts Bangladesh government in a tight spot”

He was referring to this tweet

“This is simply false” he asserts. Then he goes on and on about who all retweeted this tweet, before finally telling us why he thinks so. “The truth is, in the territory of Bangladesh, no surrender to the Indian Army took place. All the surrenders were to the Joint Command of the Indian and Bangladesh Forces in the Eastern Theatre.” He reproduces the Instrument of Surrender and claims that since “Nowhere is the term “Indian Army” mentioned”, the tweet in question is a falsehood.

The rest of the piece is a few hundred words of sermonizing and teaching a lot of people how to do their jobs, something that the class of people he belongs to seem to be good at.

It’s astounding that someone who seems to have an alphabet soup of degrees from reputed institutions could put forth such a facetious argument. And even more astounding is that a portal like Firstpost also blindly published it without question.

It’s true that the war in the East was fought by the Eastern Command of the Indian Army and the Mukti Bahini together. And there has never been a lack of acknowledgement from either side for the contribution of the other. But the fact remains that the Pakistan Army surrendered before Lt Gen Jagjit Singh Aurora, who was the commander of all the forces in the Eastern Theatre including the Mukti Bahini. The General took his orders from the Indian Army headquarters, and therefore received the surrender on its behalf. In the words of Lt General JFR Jacob, who was General Aurora’s Chief of Staff, “on the morning of December 16th, Manekshaw phoned me and said “Go and get a surrender”.”

In the 46 years since the war, never once has the fact that they surrendered to the Indian Army ever been in doubt, not even by the Pakistanis themselves. Here’s an account from Pakistani newspaper, The Dawn, which is very clear in its language.

The fact is that the Mukti Bahini, its vital contributions to the victory notwithstanding, was till then a guerrilla organisation with no legal status. The instrument of surrender, being a legal document, could only be signed between such legal entities. If it had been otherwise, the name and signature of the Mukti Bahini commander would have been included as a signatory. Like the Instruments of surrender of Germany and Japan in WWII are signed by representatives of all the allies in the theatre. So General Aurora received the surrender on behalf of the Indian Army, which itself fought the war on behalf of the country.

So the entire piece is not just nonsense, but utterly so. And the last few paragraphs reveal the author’s purpose – essentially to bad mouth the army, the government and a host of others. But using such a lame argument only serves to undermine his understanding of anything beyond his field of specialisation. Maybe he’d do well to stick to that.

ED arrests two key accused in Robert Vadra’s Bikaner land scam case

0

The Enforcement Directorate announced on Friday that it had arrested two people in connection with the Bikaner land scam case involving Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra.  These arrests have been made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

As reported, two people named Jaiprakash Bagarwa and Ashok Kumar were arrested by the agency. Ashok Kumar is believed to be a close associate of Mahesh Nagar, linked to Ms Skylight Hospitality Private Limited. These arrests come after the ED had searched the premises of Ashok Kumar and Mahesh Nagar in April.

It is believed that Skylight hospitality is owned by Robert Vadra. It was issued a notice by the Enforcement Directorate in June, 2016 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, also in connection with the same land probe.

The ED had registered a criminal complaint regarding the matter in 2015 after taking cognisance of state police’s FIR based on local tehseel’s allegations of a forgery in the Skylight’s purchase of 275 Bigha land in Bikaner’s Kolayat area.

The ED has a suspicion that large sums of money was laundered by people who brought land at cheap rates via forged documents.

The state government has already cancelled the transfer of 374.44 hectares of land in Bikaner district after it was found that land allotments were made in the name of fake persons. The Tehsildar of Kolayat has alleged in his complaint that government land in 34 villages in Bikaner which was meant to expand army’s firing range was grabbed by the land mafia through forged and fabricated documents.

We had reported in August that the Rajasthan government had recommended a CBI probe into controversial land deals, which were allegedly executed by Vadra’s company Skylight. The Rajasthan Police had lodged 18 FIRs in the matter which have been sent to the Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for issuing the notification of the CBI probe.

Such an action by the State government came after allegations that things had gone very cold on the Vadra front, so much so that reports surfaced which speculated as to whether the BJP was being gentle with him.

Press Club of India pulls up NDTV for its plan to sack 25% of its employees

0

A few days ago news had broken that NDTV, in some form of a ‘restructuring process’ had decided to lay off 25% of its workforce in the near future. NDTV has claimed that such a decision was in line with the group’s “turnaround plan”, to bring down costs. This was revealed via a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

This layoff comes within 6 months of a report  which claimed that the failing channel had fired 70 staffers. The report claimed that while the editorial staff said that the TV channel was shifting to MoJo (Mobile Journalism), other sources told the media house that the company was facing some ‘financial stress’.

Considering, that a sizable chunk of journalists may be rendered jobless, the Press Club of India has pulled up NDTV via a letter, as per a tweet by senior journalist Barkha Dutt:

Image via Barkha Dutt

As seen above, the letter sent to NDTV’s chairperson Prannoy Roy, by the Press Club president Gautam Lahiri, mentions the massive reduction and layoffs which the channel is planning.

It reminded Prannoy Roy about how the Press Club has played a ‘lead role’ in organising protests against supposed government curbs on NDTV. It then asserted that the journalistic community was concerned about the ‘restructuring plan’ of the organisation.

Thus it invited Roy to the press club to address a meet, and make NDTV’s stance clear so that journalists can understand the logic and reason behind any such large scale retrenchment.

It remains to be seen if the Press Club will organise some form of a protest meet against NDTV itself, if Roy fails to address them in the near future.

It might also not be a coincidence that this statement by the PTI was shared by Barkha, as it is amply clear that she has spared no opportunity to try and target her former employers.

We had reported in the past how she had time and tried to expose the misdeeds in NDTV, which includes writing a long Facebook post, to exposes censorship at NDTV. She also spilled the beans on how former corporate lobbyist Nira Radia had helped the channel financially and had also launched other attacks on the channel.

Apart from the channel, she also doesn’t seem to be seeing eye to eye with her former colleagues and it was documented how she and Nidhi Razdan had a fight on twitter.

Dr. Manmohan Singh and his black-box of honesty and integrity

0

When I was a kid, Doordarshan was the only channel available on Television. The channel used to host an interesting series which ran one story per episode. I don’t remember the name of that serial, but I distinctly remember one of the episodes which went like this:

An old lady had no one left in her immediate family. She traveled from the house of one relative to the house of another relative, stayed with them for some time and then moved to the other relative’s house. Wherever she went, she was warmly welcomed by lovingly hosted by her relatives. Her relatives used to fight with each other for hosting the old lady. This was completely contrary to general social behavior. The answer to this was in a big metal box which the lay always carried with her. The heavy box used to be locked with huge locks. No one had ever seen what was inside it, but it was believed that the lady carried gold, silver and precious metals. The old lady said the same. People served her with the hope that once she dies, they will become the owner of the box.

One day when the lady was alone, some thieves, who had heard a lot about the box attacked her. The old lady beg them to not open the box, but the thieves break the lock. To their shock, they discover stones and bricks inside. There was no precious metal or gems. The sham was created by the old lady for her survival. The lady was never rich.

The verdict on 2G scam is disappointing. All 18 accused, including A Raja have been acquitted. Congress is already claiming that there was ‘no scam’ and journalists want Vinod Rai to apologize. These events are discouraging, however, what drew my attention was statements given by Manmohan Singh after the verdict. Dr. Manmohan Singh says, “The judgement speaks for itself…I am glad the court has pronounced unambiguously that all this massive propaganda that was being done against the UPA was without any foundation.”

In 2011, Manmohan Singh interacted with editors of the electronic media, in which he mentioned that he was not aware of the methodology of first-come-first-serve (FCFS) policy followed for 2G spectrum allocation by former Telecom Minister A Raja. He also mentioned that Telecom Distribution was neither discussed with him nor was brought to the Cabinet. Dr. Singh famously used the phrase “coalition compulsion” to absolve Congress from the shadows of scam and put the burden on DMK.

To my surprise, The same Dr. Manmohan Singh is now saying:

I do not want to boast (about) anything. The court’s judgement has to be respected. I am glad that the court has pronounced unambiguously. All the massive propaganda which was being done against the UPA was without any foundation. The judgement speaks for itself.

By stating this, Dr. Singh is not only giving clean chit to all his “coalition-compulsion”members but he is also saying the cancellation of 122 licenses by the Supreme Court was a “propaganda”.

Dr. Singh carries an image of a leader with high values, honesty, and integrity. People who have stayed close to Dr. Singh claim that Dr. Singh is incorruptible. They also say that he may not speak-up against corruption, but he will not be involved in corruption. This image, along with his brilliant academic timeline, elevates his position a lot among his supporters and defenders.

Sadly, the bold statements given by Dr. Singh in recent days, including the one after 2G verdicts raise a strong question on this image. His belief the 2G scam was a sham and all the accused were innocent falsifies all those who worked day and night to uncover the scam.

The question is : Why is his image of honesty and integrity not shaken when he turned a blind eye to sins of his team members?

The answer lies in the ‘Big metal box’ which no one has ever opened.

Islamic cleric from Kerala declares the Red cross symbol as un-Islamic: TOI

0

An Islamic cleric from Kerala has cooked up a bit of a storm after he has declared that the universal Red cross symbol and the Rod of Asclepius symbol used extensively in the medical field are un-Islamic.

As per a TOI report, a controversial Salafi preacher named Abdul Muhsin Aydeed, in a write-up titled, “Some Islamic Advise to Doctors”, has suggested that Muslim doctors should not use such symbols as they are against the monotheism in Islam.

This write-up was reportedly carried by a Facebook page named Alaswala, Aydeed has claimed that the red cross signifies the concept of trinity in Christians. This as per Aydeed is the worst form of polytheism and is the most detested sin in Islam.

Coming to the Rod of Asclepius (serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek god Asclepius), he called it a belief which destroys Thouheed (monotheism), Islam’s cardinal principle and hence should be kept at arm’s length. He then urged Muslim doctors to avoid all the signs and slogans which are against Islam.

He also decided to turn his attention to female Muslim patients. He stated that Muslim women can approach Male Muslim doctors, provided they fail to find a female Muslim doctor. He also dished out instructions to Muslim doctors about their conduct in presence of Muslim women.

The Muslim male doctors were asked to either look or touch Muslim female patients, only if the situation is unavoidable. He also asked the doctors to wear gloves if he has to touch the female Muslim and stated that non-usage of gloves is only allowed in extreme situations.

Aydeed did not stop at this and even gave his opinion that, plastic and cosmetic surgery isn’t allowed in Islam as its an interference in Allah’s creation.

He in the past too has been in the news for his controversial opinions.

It was reported last year that Aydeed in a speech had urged Muslim parents not to send their kids to mainstream schools, which as per him, attempt to take them away from Allah and make them Kaffirs (Infidels).

He later urged the Muslim community to set up home schools where the kids can be taught in the pure Islamic way.
