Uttar Pradesh: Six-year-old girl sexually assaulted by Saddam in Lakhimpur Kheri, arrested

Police in the Palia police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Palia police, on Monday night (16th February), arrested a man named Saddam on the allegation of sexually assaulting a minor girl. The incident came to light on Monday after the 8-year-old victim told her father that Saddam, a barber, sexually assaulted her on several occasions.

As per reports, the victims’ parents run a cosmetics shop near the barber shop of the accused. The victim’s father said that the accused called the minor to his shop when he was alone and sexually assaulted her. He added that, on Monday, the accused harassed the victim when she was on her way to her mother’s shop. She then informed her mother about the incident.

The allegations levelled by the victim caused huge outrage among locals, who gathered at the Palia Police Station and demanded action against the accused. As a result, Saddam was arrested by the police, and a case was filed against him. The victim was sent for medical examination.

Circle Officer, Lakhimpur Kheri, Jitendra Singh Parihar, said that the accused, Saddam, son of Samiullah, a resident of Ekram Nagar, Palia. The case against him has been registered under Section 64 of the BNS and Section 3/4 of the POCSO Act. “The accused has been arrested, and medical reports of the girl are pending,” said the CO.

On Tuesday (17th February), Saddam’s shop was reportedly demolished by the administration. The police force was deployed in the area to maintain peace.
