Mahesh Jethmalani questions arrest

In a post on social media platform X, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani questioned the arrest and called it a “baseless and frivolous case”. He said that the night magistrate granted Dr Singh bail at around 10 pm and observed that the influencer did not do anything wrong.

Jethmalani added that the Delhi Police was pulled up by the court and asked who had pressured them to carry out the arrest.

What the case is about

According to media reports, the case is linked to social media posts in which Dr Singh had allegedly raised questions over the circumstances surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s death and concerns linked to his will. Delhi Police has not made any public statement on which posts of Dr Singh are under investigation.

Dr Singh is a dermatologist and social media commentator with a large following on X, Instagram and YouTube.

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, died in London on 12th June 2025. Though his death was officially ruled natural, controversy later emerged over inheritance disputes and calls for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
