A horrific crime unfolded on the streets of Faridabad in the early hours of Tuesday, when a 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving van for more than two hours before being thrown onto the road.
According to police, the incident took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The woman, who is married and a mother of three, was waiting for a vehicle to return home late at night when a van stopped near her. Two young men offered to drop her home and persuaded her to get inside. Instead of heading towards her destination, the vehicle was driven towards Gurgaon Road.
What followed was a prolonged ordeal. The woman was allegedly held captive inside the van for nearly two-and-a-half hours, during which the two men repeatedly raped her. Despite her resistance and pleas, the accused continued the assault and allegedly threatened her to keep her silent.
At around 3 am, the accused pushed the woman out of the moving van near Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar and fled. She suffered severe facial injuries in the fall and was found bleeding heavily on the road.
In a desperate attempt to seek help, the woman repeatedly called her sister. When the sister returned the call and learnt about the assault, family members rushed to the spot and took her to a hospital. Doctors said the victim had sustained serious injuries to her face and required 10 to 12 stitches. While her condition is now stable, she remains in deep shock, and her detailed statement is yet to be recorded.
In her complaint, the victim’s sister told the police that the woman had called her around 8.30 pm the previous evening, saying she had an argument with their mother and was going to a friend’s house. She had assured her sister that she would return home within three hours.
Police confirmed that both accused have been arrested and the van used in the crime has been recovered. An investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full sequence of events surrounding the brutal assault.
