The high-profile investigation into the 13 September alleged hit-and-run on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road has taken a dramatic turn. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) concluded that Kalyan Bainsla deliberately rammed his car into a woman biker, Shivani Chauhan alias Sia. The SIT team found out that the act was “not an accident”. The probe has concluded that it was an “intentional act“.
The five-member SIT, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crimes Against Women) Sushila, recently submitted its report to the Gurugram Police Commissioner. The panel found that Bainsla intentionally steered his white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz into the motorcycle of Shivani Chauhan, a 27-year-old Delhi resident known on social media as “Sia”, after harassing and showing her inappropriate gestures.
ACP (Crimes Against Women) Sushila said, “The SIT has prepared a draft of the charge sheet. The charge sheet will be filed in court within a week, in accordance with the sections of law applied in the FIR”
Investigators state that CCTV footage and helmet-mounted camera videos from Chauhan and a fellow rider support these findings, showing the car pursuing the group before striking the motorcycle from the side and fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred on the morning of 13 September when Sia was riding her Aprilia RS 457 with a group of bikers from Golf Course Road towards Extension Road.
According to the investigation, the occupants of the car rolled down their windows, made obscene gestures, and told her to pull over. When she refused, the perpetrators accelerated their car and hit her motorcycle. Sia sustained minor injuries to her hands and legs.
Sia said there were four people in the car, and they appeared to be intoxicated. She tried to stay ahead of the car so it could not cut her off. Meanwhile, a friend riding behind tried to keep the white car away from her. However, the car kept chasing them. Then, the driver tried to cut in front of her bike, hit it, threw her off, and dragged the motorbike for several metres before speeding away.
The case came to light after Sia posted a video of the incident on Instagram. Subsequently, Gurugram Police arrested Bainsla and his friend, Lavnish, from Rajgarh in Dausa, Rajasthan. Both are currently lodged in Bhondsi Jail, Gurugram, after the court rejected their bail pleas.
Gurugram police filed an FIR after Sia’s complaint. FIR was filed under sections 78 (physical and digital stalking), 79 (use of any word, sound, gesture, object, or intrusion of privacy with the intent to insult the modesty of a woman), 109 (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS.
