Journalist Ruchi Tiwari, who was assaulted by mob that tried to disorbe her, exposes hypocrisy of Neha Bora on women’s safety

Journalist Ruchi Tiwari, who was sexually harassed by a mob of communists at Delhi University’s Arts Faculty, recently called out AISA national President Neha Bora for playing the woman card. Bora had accused the Delhi Police of allegedly assaulting and groping female protestors and journalists during the ongoing protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Ruchi Tiwari posted a couple of videos on X exposing Neha Bora’s hypocrisy on women’s safety. Tiwari pointed out how Bora did not care for women’s safety when Tiwari was dragged around by a mob of communists while she was covering a protest in support of UGC guidelines.

Tiwari said that Bora not only encouraged the mob that assaulted, groped, and tried to disrobe her but actively took part in it during that protest that happened in February 2026. “…she (Neha Bora) did not care for women’s safety when she dragged me around with her goons, when she was calling for stripping me in public and was pulling at my clothes,” Tiwari said.

The journalist accused Neha Bora of falsely accusing the Delhi Police and the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, to please her political masters. Tiwari said that Bora is a hypocrite who is now crying about women’s safety, while she did not see anything wrong when she publicly assaulted and tried to strip her.

Tiwari further said that when Neha Bora and her supporters were assaulting her, some students present there tried to intervene and protect her, but Bora scared them away by threatening to file fake cases against them. The journalist added that neither Neha Bora nor other people who joined her in assaulting her have faced any legal action for their acts to date. She said that since the assault on her, she is scared to go out and do her work.

Ruchi Tiwari was brutally assaulted by a mob of communists and cast activists on February 13, 2026, in Delhi University’s Arts Faculty when she was covering a protest held in support of the 2026 UGC regulations. When the protestors learnt that her last name was Tiwari, a surname generally used by Brahmins, they shouted phrases like “Yeh Brahmin hai, isko pakdo” (She is a Brahmin, catch her). Viral videos of the incident showed a group of protestors dragging Tiwari around, groping and beating her, and pulling at her clothes in an attempt to disrobe her.

The protest was organised by left-wing student groups like the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students’ Association (AISA), and the newly formed All India Forum for Equity. The protestors demanded the implementation of the University Grants Commission (2026) “Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions” regulations, which were stayed by the Supreme Court.
