A 16-year-old Hindu boy was stabbed and shot dead in the Lal Bagh slum of Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Wednesday night (12th August) following an altercation with accused Aman Mulla. The victim had recently returned from Kanwar Yatra. He used to work in a factory and had returned from Kanwar Yatra on 11th August.
The police received information about a stabbing and a shooting incident around 12:15 AM on Wednesday. Police arrived at the scene and rushed Neeraj to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Neeraj succumbed to stabbing and gunshot injuries.
According to Neeraj’s friend Sahil, he and Neeraj were at a shop buying something. Aman Mulla and another man who was an outsider were present there. An altercation happened between Neeraj and Aman Mulla and his associate, after which Neeraj and Sahil left. Later, Neeraj and Sahil headed back to the shop to collect a beer bottle they had forgotten there.
On their way to the shop, they were interrupted by Aman Mulla, who fired shots at them. Sahil managed to escape uninjured. However, the gunshots hit Neeraj, who was also stabbed by the assailants.
North-West District Deputy Commissioner of Police Akanksha Yadav stated that the accused have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them. A case of murder has been registered against the accused.
Multiple incidents of lethal attacks on young Hindu men have come to light in the national capital region in the past few months. In a similar incident, a minor Hindu boy was stabbed to death in the national capital around two months ago. The 16-year-old victim, named Lucky, was killed by a man named Faizan and his associates in Gautampuri colony in the Seelampur Police Station area of Delhi. A month before that, in May, another minor Hindu boy, named Surya Chauhan, was stabbed to death by Muslim friends after being called to a Bakrid gathering in the Khoda area of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
