Shambhu Kumar Singh, editor-in-chief of National Dastak, has recently come under fire after an undated video of him using highly abusive and derogatory language against the Brahmin community went viral on social media. In the clip, Singh can be heard making controversial remarks, saying, “They are a disgrace in the name of Brahmins.”

He further added, “These Brahmins need to be beaten with shoes and thrown out.”
Singh, a Delhi-based ‘journalist’, had earlier entered electoral politics in Bihar’s Vaishali constituency as a BSP candidate. Before contesting the Lok Sabha elections, he had spoken about his journey from journalism to politics, promoting Bahujan politics and development-based campaigns. He had cited leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mulayam Singh and argued that social workers should also contest elections. However, he lost the election.
Such open hostility and hate-filled remarks are widely seen as a threat to social harmony and peaceful coexistence.
