Five individuals were arrested on Wednesday after a violent stone-pelting incident disrupted an anti-encroachment demolition drive near Turkman Gate in Old Delhi. The demolition was being carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) with police support, in compliance with directions issued by the Delhi High Court to clear illegal structures around the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque area.
According to police officials, the situation escalated when a mob began pelting stones at the joint MCD–Delhi Police team as they moved in to remove encroachments. Several police personnel sustained injuries in the attack, including Head Constable Jai Singh and Constable Vikram Ravindra.
