The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday asked 10 TMC leaders to furnish bail bonds in a case linked to a protest outside the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Three cases were filed against Kunal Kamra, who was granted interim anticipatory bail on Friday, over his derogatory remarks against former Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde.
The bail application states that the FIR was registered improperly. It also states that Shehzad has fully cooperated with the investigation and that all evidence is already with the police, making any tampering impossible.
Justice Mithal said allowing interim bail to Tahir Hussain would set a wrong precedent while Justice Amanullah argued that magnitude of offense and gravity is not the only criteria for bail cases.
"Going by the dictionary meaning, the word means son of a prostitute. That being so, the learned counsel for the appellant/A3 is right in saying that the same is not a casteist slur," the court noted.
