Speaking at Barasat, PM Modi stated that the women of Bengal have been a beacon of hope and progress for the entire country. "The 'Shakti Swaroopa' women of the state have been leading the country in various fields. But the TMC rule has caused torture, shame, and harassment for women in the state", PM stated.
BJP MP Dilip Ghosh said about Sandeshkhali that "goons and rapists are present in every nook and corner" of the state and are "being protected under the flag" of the ruling party.
Jadavpur University interim VC Sau added that the steps had been taken earlier over the allegations of ragging as per the rules and guidelines. He admitted there have been lapses on the University's side and said, "We will have to ensure that such things do not happen again."
"The situation is not good after the elections, the general public is also not coming out due to fear. The general public is in panic. If anyone comes out, TMC threatens," a local resident said.
