After May 2, Tiwari was suspended indefinitely from classes and hostels with immediate effect. Tiwari hails from Ballan village of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.
"If a student comes dressed in burqa and hijab from home, they are required to remove the attire after entering the college premises," Beena Upadhyay told Opindia.
The Muslim students who are protesting against uniform regulations in the state and had begun the protest were in contact with radical Islamic outfit CFI.
The hijab row in Karnataka has taken an uglier turn with incidents of stone-pelting and violence being reported from various parts of the state on Tuesday.
On Saturday, in solidarity with their classmates, Hindu girl students also hit the streets by wearing saffron shawls to protest against hijab on campus.
