The CBI has registered an FIR against the US-based Christian missionary group The Timothy Initiative for violating FCRA and FEMA rules to illegally push funding into India for conversion activities and fuelling left-wing extremism.

Over the years, the government has taken action against several organisations after investigations or inspections exposed financial irregularities, misuse of foreign contributions, violation of FCRA rules or activities beyond their declared objectives.

TTI’s own material says donations fund leadership training, travel, stipends, field verification and village mapping. ED says foreign debit cards were used to withdraw cash across states while bypassing FCRA.

"The govt won't tolerate any misutilisation of foreign funding and will take strong action against such elements," Rai warned.
