The Uttarakhand government sealed or shut down five more unrecognized madrasas in Dehradun and Haldwani for failing to comply with educational standards, bringing the total number of closed institutions across the state to 20 under its new minority education authority.

Ankit Pal is a member of the Shri Ram Seva Dharmarth Nyas organisation that performed a Havan ceremony on 10th August at a venue in Haldwani, where a Congress rally was held on 8th August. The Congress rally was attended by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is a Dalit.

The Court clarified that ownership of the disputed land is undisputed and belongs to the State, observing that rehabilitation would be assistance, not a right, and that infrastructure expansion cannot be stalled indefinitely.
